Just ordered one in grey. Not that i needed another gmrs, but living in Western NC and seeing how much these radios were used after the hurricane i realize you can't have too many. At this price it doesn't hurt if i give them away or they get damaged.
Cradle charging is for Battery Longevity whereas USB charge is Fast charge. Cradle output is usually 70mAh where USB is normally 1 amp via a wall wart.
I have bought 3 of them the first came from Amazon totally ptt locked to GMRS , secend and third have come from another sites all over rides the ptt and is working very well
Thank you so much for the video. I bought the radio based on your review. Thank you. Question, I lost my manual, can't find a download anywhere. It is not on Baofengs website either. Any suggestions?
This is from the FCC database where the approval documents are available. They include the manual. fcc.report/FCC-ID/2ajgmgm21/7098161.pdf The BF UV21 manual is about 95% identical, too.
There are several small sets of adapters on Amazon. One set had a variety of UHF connector options and the other had a variety of SME connectors. amzn.to/3CqTI8y or amzn.to/4ethRIT
Just received my GM 21, the display reads in frequency only, I noticed during your video display reads in GMRS channel number or Repeater number. I can’t figure out how to change, can you help?
Better is hard to define. The K5 is cheap, works OK, and is a great tool if you're into using open source firmware. Can't think of another radio doing that. The K5 is also a ham radio, not GMRS. The GM21 is solid budget class GMRS HT. It is one of several models that fall into that category.
I have on channel 16, a letter c inside a circle. What did I do to make that appear? I have no idea what it does or how to get rid of it. Any suggestions?
That means you have a CTCSS code set for that channel. Check the menus to make sure they read off for TX CTCSS and RX CTCSS. 4.2 in the manual. Enjoy your new radio.
Thank you for posting I always enjoy your videos very detailed
Glad you like them! Cheers

Great video. I have ZERO knowledge of GRMS radios. Last night just ordered the UV-9G. Now I need to find a University that offers classes for dummies.
Lots of good videos on UA-cam. Check out my GMRS playlist.
Thank you for the great info! Why do I have the feeling that you were the voice on some Air Force CBTs? Lol 73

I have the UV21 and it is a pretty neat radio

What's the difference between the UV-21 and the GM-21. I went to Baofengs website and couldn't find the GM-21.
The GM 21 is a GMRS radio. The UV 21 is a ham radio.

Where did you find the adapters to connect in GM21 to a test meter?

The long press on the flashlight does that do the frequency search like the 5G plus?
I know there are a few other beofeng radios that have the one touch frequency scanner outside of the uv-5g plus
The Uv-17, uv-20, uv-5g plus, and uv-21.
The UV-5G Plus accesses one touch search via the green one touch key. The GM21 accesses one touch search via a long press on SK2. Cheers.
Does this radio have that feature as a big brother GMRS version of the UV-21R @GadgetTalk4U
I can confirm they have a frequency copy by long press of flashlight button...
Good video and thank you much. 😅
What's the diff between:
BAOFENG GMRS Radio GM-15 Pro
and
BAOFENG GMRS 9R PRO
IP Score. 9R is submersible
Good review.

You're looking for Menu items 24 and 25. They names are criptic but they change the displays. Cheers, sorry about the late response.
How does this compare to the us-5RH?
The UV-5RH is a ham radio, not GMRS. The similar GMRS radio would be the UV-5G Plus. I've reviews for both on this channel. Cheers.
Is this radio better then the Quansheng UV-K6 UV-K5(8) ? What are your thoughts on the Quansheng radio?
Better is hard to define. The K5 is cheap, works OK, and is a great tool if you're into using open source firmware. Can't think of another radio doing that. The K5 is also a ham radio, not GMRS. The GM21 is solid budget class GMRS HT. It is one of several models that fall into that category.
It already was GMRS, maybe was not supposed to be but all three of mine are. 🤣🤣🤣
Same here bought 3 uv5rs in 2011/12. Never opened them till recently. Learning how to use them got gmrs license and ham next.
@@ordyy89 how'd you get one before everyone else?
@@Alchemist39 I have the UV21R

I would never buy a radio that put out less than 4 watts. There are many better options out there.
Most budget class HTs output 3-4 watts. Spend a bit more for either ham or GMRS and you get closer to 5. Cheers.
