This took a dark turn. No wonder im so smart, I watched this as an 8 year old.
The guy that jokes mean spirited with his wife about her should not be shocked if she ends up having an emotional affair with someone who validates her and makes her feel good about herself. He facilitated it after all.
I think some men do this so that their wives will have low self esteem and think they must put up with such a husband because no one else would want them. But all it takes is another person to make her feel special and desired. The husband is setting up his marriage for failure. A joke at another’s expense, especially if they let it be known that the comments are hurtful is cruel. It’s not funny if only one person is laughing or if the person is only laughing because you make them feel like they can’t trust their own feelings and are being too sensitive or such.
Any chance that episodes of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” from the late 1980’s and the 1990’s can be uploaded? I personally think those were far better!

She wasn’t in love with him. Probably never had been. My husband and I have gone through multiple weight/appearance changes over the years, and we are more in love and attracted to each other than ever before. Real love isn’t that shallow.

My ex husband treated me the same. No matter how tired or sick I was, I had to give in because it was all about him and it felt like rape. I eventually lost all love and respect for him.

Phil was much more honest and direct in these years. I liked him then, not anymore.
I remember when she first introduced him and I never missed a show. I found this Dr Phil person to be wildly refreshing who is more than willing to honestly talk directly about the elephant in the room.
