I know that I'm in the minority here, but I can watch NASCAR road course races all day long. Montoya and Ambrose were two of the best road course racers NASCAR ever saw, and both of these guys won at this track in stock cars. I can't help but think that if JPM had shown the patience he displayed in his last few years of NASCAR, he would have done even better in Formula 1, while I remember how tough Ambrose made it for AJ Allmendinger without wrecking him. Those were two of the best outsider drivers ever to win in NASCAR.
Oh hell yeah dude, this is some great stuff. The limitations of the stock cars add to the spectacle and entertainment value of these races, as well as just further show how talented these two are.
I think they made a great decision in adding more road courses, 1.5 mile ovals are less interesting, road courses challenge the driver and equalize the field...short tracks and road courses plus Darlington are my favorite NASCAR tracks.
I know a lot of the Aussie fans have a problem with Ambrose but from my view it is a thing of beauty watching Ambrose pick apart they guy in front of him on a road coarse. He took a lot of these guy's to school who were already good road coarse racers. He schooled Montoya here pretty good and took apart Keselowski more times than Brad cares to remember I'm sure.
The Aussie fans didn't have a problem with Ambrose -- they had a problem with the brand of car he drove in the V8 Supercars, which was a Ford Falcon. A lot of Holden fans have a superiority complex that no other brand of car could possibly be better than a Commodore - so all discussion about Ambrose's skill, or the superiority of the vehicle (or both) are null and void. He stuck it to Holden for 2 years straight with his consecutive championships in 2003 and 2004. The brand doesn't exist anymore, but Holden had the fan numbers back in the day. Source: I'm Australian, watched the V8 Supercars of that era for a fair few years - and yes, obviously a Ford and Ambrose fan. :) I was sad when he announced he was going to Nascar. :(
Another thing that was common was guys going between the rails and getting decapitated. Sir Jackie Stewart summed it up better than anyone: "Back then racing was dangerous and sex was safe."
Ambrose came into Nascar as the best V8 supercar driver which is a very similar car to the Nascar at the time with the live rear axle car, and Montoya from F1 even if he faded a bit probably from interest because he still had it at this point, your looking at probably the best two tin top drivers on earth at this point.
@steven sparkz As a motorsport fan of 20 years that has attended 9 F1 GPs, you are the reason why I hate associating myself with F1. Great racing from great drivers happens to be great racing. Go back to /r/formula1 and learn what "Hammys" dog had for breakfast or whether or not "Le Kimster" still plays squash.
Both these clowns are no good I still believe Jacques Villeneuve should have taken over the #3 instead of Kevin Harvick he would have 8 Championships by now.

Sterling Crockett Trust me, you're not in the minority.. 👍

Right there with you buddy!

@@PaperBanjo64 to be honest America has so many good road courses, I imagine someday getting a dirt road course, the races in there would be nuts
3:40 That's the kind of intense road racing that Nascar needs. Two talented drivers from two different backgrounds of Motorsport duking it out
Especially with slow equipment if I'm not wrong
@@virtual_car996Yea
Ganassi was very average very rarely they were above average fore say
Petty the car Marcus was driving rarely competed for wins
It stinks not having either of these guys drive Cup anymore.
Truly the best on the road courses. Old fashioned hard edged drivers
NASCAR on Sky Sports with ESPN commentary, the memories!

....but montoya won. Montoya said post race he wasn't pushing it as hard as he could have at the beginning.
Ambrose was always in 2nd tier equipment too, makes what he did even more impressive

I miss Ambrose.
V8 supercars vs f1 hehe
0:48 exactly where it goes from four Armco barriers down to three is where François Cevert died back in 1973. RIP.
Another thing that was common was guys going between the rails and getting decapitated. Sir Jackie Stewart summed it up better than anyone: "Back then racing was dangerous and sex was safe."
Great announcing no trying at all and flows perfect
Ambrose was a chance for nascar to catch a little of their old glory and they blew it.

Seeing Ambrose and Montoya battle it out is like Ambrose is the Michael Schumacher in this situation.
Bad Ass. Trackhouse should have them run the 91 car in the road courses next year
What if Eurobeat intensified
Both of this guys are ROAD TRACK EXPERT :) F1 background v8background...
Watch v8 supercars you'll understand why ambrose is a good racer.
I used to love V8 supercars.
Svg vs Larson
Ambrose would be perfect in NASCAR today with the extra road courses
Ive watched both of them from Australia and Van Gisbergen is a better driver than Ambrose ever was tbh
@@ray.shoesmith I am not going to disagree with that
almendinger and boris would be nice seeing them 4 race on this track in top 4
What's the bet that if Montoya's car was an actual Holden Commodore in red that he'd "miss" the brake and punt him off the road?
Are you referring to the 05 thing with Murphy?
I think I was referring to the contemporary HRT car #2. But bugger me if I can actually remember what I was talking about that long ago.
Que buena carrera a la final quien gano ?
Juan Pablo Montoya Gano . Esto fue en el 2010
Quien gano
Creo que schumacher
f1 vs super v8.

Mark Adams that’s ridiculous
@@TheMW2informer Hahahahahahahaha
Mark Adams he had lots of talent in his NNS starts at Montreal and Road America but he couldn’t save his equipment or be there at the end
Jacques is and was my ultimate race car hero
How stupid not to record the over take .
