One of the legends of the NHL, the epitome of the original six franchises, but, most notably, the Chicago Blackhawks. The Golden Jet and his ability to score goals made for a thrilling era of North American sports at a time when things were a little simpler, at least. Then, Bobby Hull went to the now-defunct World Hockey League with the Winnepeg Jets. But the legacy of Chicago is what most will remember about Mr. Hull. May he rest in peace. Thank you for what you did for hockey and pro sports.
i got to see bobby hull play in person against the boston bruins back in the 60's. we started putting bends in our stick blades like him and stan makita because back then the sticks we bought were flat. we found out how to do it in a magazine that showed how they did it. bobby hull was one of the greatest.

The Winnip Jets should forever kiss his autograph ING hand and should never let anyone wear his number 9. He was one of the finest gentlemen I've ever met. The fig salaried players should set up a special retirement fund in his honor, because he changed salaries forever!

Thank you very much for putting this video out. #9 Bobby Hull is my idol and was my inspiration to learn to play hockey and later became an Illinois Highschool Hockey State Champion! Bobby gave me one of his game-used sticks, a Northland Pro, all wooden, huge hook on the blade would be totally illegal in today's NHL. I keep it in bubble wrap, only brought it out when the Hawks were in the finals , helped us win the Cup in 2010-13-15, had it right by my side with my Rosary watching the games! Long live Robert Marvin Hull #9 the GOAT!
Bobby Hull was my hero but Gordie Howe was most definitely one of the all-time greats. Many years ago I had the great fortune of having dinner with Gordie. A company I worked for was doing business with a company Gordie represented as a celebrity spokesman. It was a fantastic evening I will never forget. He was the nicest and most gracious guy you could imagine. He answered all our questions and told us lots of great hockey stories. He wasn't as big as I thought but his hands were huge, especially his fingers. They were like sausages.

Awesome. I miss the old barn on Madison, and Lloyd Petit. That place was so loud, your ears hurt. Playoff games against the Minny North Stars and Blues were an event. and against the hated Habs. Bobby was one of a kind. I know he wasn't the nicest person personally, but, that slapshot was a mortar shell.
Seen him play for the jets in Chicago s international Amphitheater, on Halsted St in the 1970s. Agenst the chi Cougers..as a kid my dad had Sean Tix s for both Chicago hockey clubs..
i was at that game when he came back to Chi. for the first time, we were able to get down stairs somehow and watch them come out of the dressing room, and go onto the ice. if you remember, Pat Stapelton was with the Cougars then....RIP Robert Marvin Hull

In the 1970s in Toronto my late father had season tickets for the Toronto Toro’s of the defunct WHA. On a few occasions we’d speak to Bobby when he came into town playing for the Winnipeg Jets. My Mother took a photo of him standing on the ice one game and he then signed it the next time in town. I still have the photo. What memories…what a great man.

Great job putting this film footage together ! I remember my dad taking me to Madison Square Garden to see Chicago play the Rangers in the early 70’s in a playoff game . Both teams were full of hall of farmers - those were the days ! Bobby was great for sure . I’d hate to be a goaltender back then - no mask and seeing him wind up for a slap shot ! In 1980 Hull was with the Hartford Whalers. In a game in Detroit which I attended that was Gordie Howe's last NHL game in Motown Bobby scored a goal a quick wrist shot. At first the we groaned at the opposing goal but a second or two later we realized it was Hull and we all cheered him.

I have been a Habs fan since I was three years old( almost seventy now). When Montreal played the Hawks I hoped that Bobby wasn't in the lineup for any reason. everyone please judge him for his one ice performance not what may have gone on off ice. His contributions to the sport were immense. Bobby and the Blackhawks that have gone before him are probably suiting up for a game against an Original Six team. Leafs maybe. LOL RIP

Got his autograph as a kid. He stayed signing them until everyone that wanted one got one. When he wound up with the puck behind his net everybody in any arena he played in rose in anticipation.
he could skate and shoot like a rifle i always remember he was someone that was incredible shape as he worked on the farm in the offseason. He was at one time a great spokesperson for the nhl but he had some character flaws and eventually that caught up to him. Still one of the greats as a player. Hull Howe beliveau and a few others that were the real stars.

LOL. the beer guys would bring as much beer as they could carry up all those stairs between periods, when thy ran out that was it...i think they only had a small concession for food up there? being 78, i'm surprised i remember that much...LOL

Hull does not get the credit he deserves. He single handedly raised the salaries of every professional hockey player in 1972 when he gave the WHL instant credibility with his 1 million dollar signing. Immediatelythe flood gates opened with exodus of players from the NHL to sign huge salaries in WHA. At the same time NHL teams and owners had to open their wallets to keep players in their league. All salaries instantly inflated.There was no one player at that time who was not thankful to Hull. Funny how no one seems to mention this hmm.

growing up in Chicago 50s 60s found out about hockey listening to it on the radio. got out of the service in '67, we bought seats from a scalper 2nd balcony 2nd row on the goal line, the end where the Hawks came out. many great memories watching him wind up behind his own net and fly down the left wing and let go with that wicked slap shot . he was one of a kind, he played the game the right way...RIP Robert Marvin Hull
Personally, I believe the Golden Jet predated the legendary, Bobby Orr, as the 1st, truly modern superstar in the NHL. He had the shot, the speed, the physique, the looks, the charisma...that package, he carried into and through the post-Original 6 & WHA. Not only was he the biggest signing to the newly formed, rival league, he gave them some legitimacy. His line with Swedish stars, Anders Hedberg & Ulf Nilsson, brought a dynamic, European style of offenive influence, to the North American style of traditional hockey. Along with the Nordiques, Stastny Brothers & the merging Edmonton Oilers young superstars, they influenced NHL, lifting their dark ages game into a new era. Has the National Hockey League ever publicly commended the maverick league for their much needed, kick in the *ss❓️The parallels between the merger & influence of the ABA into the NBA, bringing playground/streetball/Show-Time to the boring NBA, can't be overlooked... 🏒 In September, 1974, the WHA had their training camp for their Team Canada and series against the Soviets. It was held in Edmonton & I got several players autographs & photos, including Bobby Hull's. Another piece of memorabilia, is 1962 print of Hull & "Boom Boom" Geoffrion, commemorating the 1st time two 50 goal scorers faced one another. There's no question, Bobby had his personal demons & challenges...unfortunately, his family was affected. 🇨🇦

growing up in Chicago 50s 60s found out about hockey listening to it on the radio. got out of the service in '67, we bought seats from a scalper 2nd balcony 2nd row on the goal line, the end where the Hawks came out. many great memories watching him wind up behind his own net and fly down the left wing and let go with that wicked slap shot . he was one of a kind, he played the game the right way...RIP Robert Marvin Hull

Personally, I believe the Golden Jet predated the legendary, Bobby Orr, as the 1st, truly modern superstar in the NHL. He had the shot, the speed, the physique, the looks, the charisma...that package, he carried into and through the post-Original 6 & WHA. Not only was he the biggest signing to the newly formed, rival league, he gave them some legitimacy. His line with Swedish stars, Anders Hedberg & Ulf Nilsson, brought a dynamic, European style of offenive influence, to the North American style of traditional hockey. Along with the Nordiques, Stastny Brothers & the merging Edmonton Oilers young superstars, they influenced NHL, lifting their dark ages game into a new era. Has the National Hockey League ever publicly commended the maverick league for their much needed, kick in the *ss❓️The parallels between the merger & influence of the ABA into the NBA, bringing playground/streetball/Show-Time to the boring NBA, can't be overlooked...
🏒 In September, 1974, the WHA had their training camp for their Team Canada and series against the Soviets. It was held in Edmonton & I got several players autographs & photos, including Bobby Hull's. Another piece of memorabilia, is 1962 print of Hull & "Boom Boom" Geoffrion, commemorating the 1st time two 50 goal scorers faced one another.
There's no question, Bobby had his personal demons & challenges...unfortunately, his family was affected.
