That poor little boy imagine how he must have felt being a small child being moved away from his family and being told that your family can no longer speak to you, that’s heart breaking
I would love it if you could do a show on or with a “wife” who is beyond child-bearing years. I’ve heard rumors about how they fit in when they’re older but would like an informative video on it.
Apparently they cover up children from underaged children and also have connections to financial investments and check up on victims social media activity with other Mormons to harrass and libel victims if they report.
I was raised in the FLDS, and I know of many women who were basically "set aside" once they were no longer of childbearing age.
My own mother was. My father wouldn't even share a bed with her. Other men would tell their older wives they were "a waste of my energy" when they could be spending their time with younger wives.
Other women were moved into big bedrooms they would then share with children. An older mother with several sets of bunkbeds in her bedroom, with a group of either boys or girls in the same general age group that she was in charge of watching over and keeping in line.
These women weren't even allowed the privacy of having a bedroom to themselves, and they were left to be little more than live in house servants.

As an outsider who's used to living my own life, having my own space, making my own decisions (including choosing to not ever have any children), I cannot imagine living a life of reproductive servitude like that and then just to be discarded when you can no longer bear children for them. How awful. I really hope all women who want to escape from being trapped in that system make it out! They need to know they have more value and worth than that!
I was raised in the Catholic church. I am now 71 years old and I remember when I was about 8 years old, we saw a movie in catechism that showed a marriage where a man was very mean to his wife and we were told that, as girls, we were commited to stay in a marriage no matter what. I decided then and there that it was very weird and I would never stay with someone who hurt me. It is very feasable for a child can understand and make a decision at a young age.
The things that usually cause a person as a child to make those realizations. Is just from observing that people around them. For me, it was my mom. I didn’t want a marriage like that.

The bible does say you should try to stay married. If you remarry or your spouse remarries, it's called adultery in the bible.

I have a really similar story to yours. My mom is sick and heavily medicated (history of addiction, but doesn’t count it as active addiction bc she needs the meds) my stepdad is an abusive ahole who abused me in every possible way. They converted to jw when I was in hs so I loved most of my life with bdays and Xmas and then at 14 we just randomly stopped. I have so much religious and general trauma and I am so appreciative of you sharing your story! Makes me feel less alone. No one in my life seems to understand how messed up my life was before I left home at 17.
Her poor 8 year old brother who had to be separated from his mother...that's heartbreaking. :(

When she's talking about the full restoral group, one of the most stringent rules was you MUST wake up each morning by 4 am. No. Excuses. One girl who was epileptic, had a seizure from lack of sleep, and died.
That is so devastating.
Maybe somebody already mentioned this, but prisoners still have a right to freedom of religion. I imagine that is why Warren was allowed to call and talk for hours at a time. Preventing him from doing that would probably be considered to be infringing on his rights. Thank you for sharing these videos. Joanna is truly an inspiration!

I’ve got a question for Joanna. When you were rebaptized into the UO did you get a locking wooden box? I’m from the Canadian group and was always curious if they gave them out down there also. It was filled with the latest revelation pamphlets and that was where we had to keep our record of belongings and also fill out our nightly “how many hours did you spend blessing other today” sheets. Also we weren’t allowed to let anyone look in our box, which for my siblings and I turned it into a perfect hiding place for things we weren’t supposed to have🤷♀️

I honestly just have always believed that bc Warren Jeffs is in Prison for life he wants all of his followers to be just as miserable 😩 and have the same restrictions he has!! So sad 😞 and devastating for his followers

As a Catholic, I find the re-baptisms fascinating. In Catholicism the doctrine is that your baptism is valid if done before Christ (doesn't matter if it's Orthodox, Protestant, Coptic, or any other Christian denomination), and you can only be married once because that's a covenant between the couple and god (as opposed to allowing two weddings, one for each spouse's faith).
It feels like the purpose of baptism in the FLDS is not to introduce you to God, it's to mark you as a member of the community.
The catholic church just invalidated over 100,000 baptisms done in the Catholic church for incorrect wording. They don't accept all their own baptisms let alone other churches baptisms.
As a Catholic we are baptized as infants to be cleansed of original sin. LDS/FLDS baptize at 8 and asked to choose to be a part of the church and from that point forward to live according to the scriptures.
The Catholic Church recognizes Baptism by most Protestant and all Orthodox Churches. They do NOT accept Mormon Baptism because their theology is completely different. So a Mormon convert would be Baptized again.
In Catholicism, it is true that one Christian baptism is valid. However this is only if that Christian denomination believes in the Trinity and baptizes in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit. Therefore LDS and it's off shoots, Jehovah's Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventist, and Pentecostal are not considered valid baptism by the Catholic Church because those "Christian" denominations do not believe in the Trinity (three persons in one God) . Yes they believe in a Father Son and Holy Spirit but they believe they are three separate "beings."
I watched every escaping polygamy on TLC. The last few episodes were very telling to me!! I am slowly bringing attention to people here in Denver with hiring companies to do hospitals and malls in cities of Denver. We need to make the decision collectively in when to cut that stuff off... being aware is what we need. Both sides have the it's not right however it's does effect your loved ones still in so it should be talked about on both sides so we can do things to make positive changes!!

I know Warren banned sex at some point during his imprisonment (not sure if it was right after he got arrested or awhile after as he got more strict) but what would happen if a woman got pregnant after he gave that order? Did anyone actually get pregnant after that? Great interview btw, look forward to hearing more!!
If anyone was caught having sexual relations, let alone getting pregnant, they would be cast out of the community.

It’s encouraged to have a years worth, not 7. And it’s for general preparedness and self sufficiently in time of bad economy, job loss, disaster, etc.

Wow, this is wild, I just watched “Keep Sweet” on Hulu, and the “current day” members were barefoot and had their hair down, the level they’ll go to for propaganda I wouldn’t be surprised if that was intentional, but it’s interesting for sure. Perhaps they weren’t part of this full restoration thing, or the United Order or whatever, there are so many fascinating details about the FLDS.

As someone who has lots of prison knowledge I dont see how they could stop him from calling anyone unless it was in part of his sentencing not to have contact with his victims. Which would probably only include the 2 girls he was charged for marrying/messing around with. The prison system 100% knows who hes talking to, you have to fill out a form n get accepted onto his call list. I am surprised however that the guards didnt mess with him n take away phone privileges just for petty reasons and even more suprised that other prisoners let him sit on the phone that long! Staying on the phone too long will get you beat up on the right day! Prisoner politics are crazy. I cant believe he hasn't been injured badly by now if I'm being completely honest. He must be being held with SO's n such, cuz theres no way hes in general population!
He was in solitary confinement.

Warren calling people out--I keep seeing/hearing his creepy voice with the Romper Room Lady's Magic Mirror: "I see Mike and Jill and Gary..." only "and you are going straight to hell"
I was in Texas working to help pay bills after the raid in 2010-11. I was taken advantage of pretty hard in 2011 so after I came home in 2012 I did not have any desire to be united order so i never said yes to all the questions. Somehow I don't feel like I missed out on anything.

I love this subject! It jars my feeble memory! So was it Lyle Jeffs that Warren wanted Vanessa Rohbock to marry? I have lots of pieces, but limited to what I could access. Vanessa was sent to Canada to Winston Blackmore in Lister/Creston BC. We heard the threats of "Blood Atonement" and were moving heaven and earth to try to rescue her. I know what was happening outside, but inside was very limited.

Hu ?? I visited the Blackmore group near Creston BC way back when I was on an LDS mission there. It was an eye opener for sure & they didn't want us to talk with "their people".

Correct. Amanda is from The Kingston Group that called themselves "The Order" and this group is the "United Order". I know it's super confusing that everyone wanted the word "Order" in their name haha.

FYI: I am pretty sure that they legally can't stop prisoners from calling people on the outside and they can say whatever they want on the phone but of course, those recordings are monitored and if somebody is committing a crime over the phone from prison, that could start another conviction. Of course, Warren has nothing to lose, he's serving 2 life sentences. I think the people on the other side of the phone should be careful. If those phone calls create probable cause that somebody on the outside is committing a crime (abandoning their child, having sex with an underage "wife", fraud,...), that could be the lead for police to do a house search or arrest people.

She described a cult.
Her story also shows how dangerous it really was for some of the people from the FLDS that were featured on "Escaping Polygamy" with Amanda Ray and her cousins when they were doing the show.
Some of the people weren't in the same danger that FLDS women were in when they reached out to the girls for help getting out. It seems like the people they helped from their own group "The Order" / "The Kingston"s Clan" weren't in the same kind of danger that the FLDS women were in when they were escaping.
They definitely amped up the dramatics and danger for some of the cases. Mostly the people in their group were dramatized miore, some of the danger was fabricated., but not every case. The most dramatic cases were when they had to call the police because Kingston Clan parents didn't want to let their 18yr old + children leave the cult even though they're legally able to leave because they're not minors anymore.
There were times whem the girls called the police because they were trying to help an adult pack up and move out, but the parents literally tried to block them in to stop them from moving out. The FLDS scenes were mostly completely secret and they had to get out while the parents were either at church or work. They had to get out of the crick before the security found out what was going on and chased them to the interstate highway out of town.. Basically when it was an easy out they amped the dramatics but sometimes trying to leave made the grits hit the fan FOR REAL THOUGH..
I'm amazed. I wonder if the original person that broke off from the LDS was cult minded. I know some people think that the LDS church was originally a cult but truthfully if you look at the entirety of Christianity at the time, they all had similar ideas. These groups like polygamy groups are holding tight or making worse these ideas we now consider archaic and cultish. Very crazy to hear about how bad warren made things. That man is so insane.
The LDS church originally believed that polygamy should be practiced, so I don't think that "they all had similar ideas". I'm not saying this to be rude; I just think that it's important to point out a major difference.
@@smlorrin "originally", no, it was a few years before polygamy was introduced. I wasn't referring to polygamy anyway. It's not the only thing that makes something a cult in fact that's not actually a factor in it being a cult at all. I was referring to all the extreme rules like food, covering feet and such as well as the controlling and oppressive behavior. Even last night I watched a movie about the early 1900s in which a lady was shunned from church partly because her coffee was "too black". The little Christian community followed whatever the priest said as was the way since Christianity began. It's only in recent decades that people have stopped blindly obeying and started questioning.

Maybe you want to stir up contention with me or other people who believe in the Book of Mormon which would not be what Jesus Christ teaches. Since you have a scripture reference as your name, I'll assume you are interested in the gospel of love.
You mentioned Warren Jeff's calling in from prison for hours on end to his followers and Sam wondered why they would allow that, well you have to remember that most prisons are for-profit companies, and those phone cards are expensive!
Ya calls are monitored anyway so if he did say anything incriminating they could easily track it.
The prison will allow you to talk on the phone all day if your privileges are not taken away. However each call limit is 15 mins. What I was more confused about is how he got away with it without having issues with other prisoners??? He's kept in PC (according to the latest article I could find) so he and everyone else in that unit only get Rec time for 1 hr. Everyone is going to be in that phone line and ppl dont play about getting to use the phone. I can't see this not causing a HUGE problem!
She may have been too young to remember, but I wonder if she was at the YFZ ranch in Texas when Lyle Jeffs hosted Oprah Winfrey, giving her show a tour of the ranch and introducing Oprah to the kids. Lyle brought Oprah into the school, taking her crew into a classroom of whatt looked like 1sr graders. Oprah asked the kids a bunch of questions,, whike they stared at her looking confused. It seemed like the kids had never seen a Black person before so they looked like they were scared.

There's a great book by an LDS author that shows that there's perfect harmony between the prophetic statements concerning the garden of Eden being in Missouri and the Old Testament account concerning the garden of Eden. It's called Canaan, Babylon, and Egypt A Comparative Theological Analysis on Creation sold by Eborn Books.
Dogs and pigs almost sounds like Islam, they'd likely be offended at the association though. This is all so interesting in such a trainwreck way, its great to see people getting away from it and living happy lives

I’ve been watching all your videos. I’m just not clear why Sam decided to leave the community. I know it was sudden. But what made him want to be on the other side? Point me to that video if you explained already. Second, I understand that you are both not LDS anymore, either. What do you identify as and how will you raise your children? Again, if I missed this video, point me to it…..
From what I understand he was introduced to a mainstream LDS family through a construction job. He realized that good people were outside of the FLDS and could be happy.

At 7:20 minutes in you're talking about rebaptism. I don't think you guys understand what that is because you're asking why it was necessary. Rebaptism was commonly practiced in the early church. Even Brigham Young was rebaptized several times. When she was asked if she was "pure and clean" it's coming from the viewpoint of the requirement of bringing forth fruit meet for baptism. The Book of Mormon also testifies that rebaptism was practiced: "And now I speak concerning baptism. Behold, Elders, Priests, and Teachers were baptized; and they were not baptized, save they brought forth fruit meet that they were worthy of it." Moroni 6:1
"Wake up, you Bishops, Elders, and High Priests, and go and be baptized for the remission of sins, that you may receive the Holy Ghost for it will not rest on you until you do.
I say to brother John Young, President of the High Priest's Quorum, baptize those who will repent; and to brother Spencer, it is your duty to exercise a careful oversight of the affairs in this Stake of Zion, and I will not ask you to be any more obedient to me in my calling than I will be to you in yours." The United Order seems creepy and arbitrary. And redoing baptismal ceremonies seems done to instill how the initiate is somehow better than those who do not make the cut. I wonder what the ratio of males to females was in the selection process.

What is WRONG with these people? What kind of mother would allow her children to be separated from her because they “aren’t pure”? Because some LUNATIC decided they are not “clean and pure”? This whole thing just gets worse and worse, the more I hear! It’s like a bad train wreck, though, I keep watching because I’m stunned that people like this exist. So unfair to the kids that are born into this sickening insanity.
