Mike, YT is difficult to figure out at times, but Kim and I really enjoyed learned about harvesting chickens from you guys in that video. Thanks for sharing.
Please don’t stop making videos! I’m so bummed that I just found your channel but I’m also grateful I did in general!!! I’m learning soooooo much! You guys are living our dream!💛 keep up the good work!!
UA-cam will show the people that life is always party and fun. They won't show the people THE real life. That's UA-cam. Well done video. Stay safe and healthy.
Hello from south Florida. As a city boy, I appreciated the chicken harvest video. It was educational to see the process and I enjoyed it. Hang in there. Thanks for sharing
Most all of us saw when you hurt your back, and I definitely feel for you. Taking it easier is alot better than bed ridden, so continue to take it easier. The meat birds are a different breed, staying smallish than your last group, but yes, feed is a contributor. Hopefully they will pan out, pun intended, and be a good meat choice. Tell Liz 👋, miss her too. Love ya'll ❤
I suspected something might not be right. So sorry for your back being in pain, having also no disc and squished bones in my lower back. So very glad though to hear from you! Life changes when the back becomes "Iffy" as you know. What I'm most happy about is that you two are still among us! ALRIGHT!!! Looking forward to the next video you are able to make my friend.
Mike, I’ve been very concerned about what happened to the two of you. Try to avoid having back surgery at all costs. I ended up having seven surgeries after one orthopedic surgeon screwed up the first surgery I had on my lower back for a ruptured disc. I now have all of my lumbar vertebrae tied together with rods and screws clear down to my sacrum from my L-1 vertebrae. Not a day goes by without severe pain that I have had to learn how to live with, with some assistance of pain medicine and anti-muscle spasm medicine. I eventually will be relegated to a wheelchair at some point in my life.
Mike, my first back surgery turned into 2, then 3,4,5,12! I’m still in pain and there’s nothing left to do! Pain stimulates, nerve blocks, ablation protocols, you name it and I have had it done! I’m 73, first surgery at 28, last one 2009! Can’t walk very far, 4 of these surgeries were cervical, 6 lumbar, 2 thoracic! Avoid any type of surgery for as long as you can! Started with my lumbar ant went to my skull! Plates, rods, bone fusions! I could write a book! Feel free to reach out to me if you’re interested in my writing.
Mike, thanks for the walking update around your homestead. It is nice you saved to old shed and have plugged the fastener holes so it does not leak inside on your stuff. So sorry about your back being sore. Hope you feel better real soon. Blessings to you and Liz.
Take care of yourself, no matter how much time it takes. I do miss seeing your videos and quite frankly, just feeding the animals is very good content! ♥️
Been missing you, but I understand the back pain thing. Homesteading is hard enough without the added task of making youtube videos. Take care of yourself.... it does no good to push too hard and extend the recovery. Hope to see Liz in future videos.
"he" Is a Barbados blackbelly.. Barbados grow horns, American do not. I just love this breed! this is our second year of raising them. The meat is delicious!.. Sorry about the snow already.. URG.. We are in Central Oregon so ours is due anytime yet its been an unusually warm fall here.. Thank you for the tour! Subscribed..
Mike, you are still a young man, means you will need that body of yours functioning for many decades to come. The body spare part situation is usually quite bad, so use machines wherever possible. A new back is not on the list of available spare parts. The way you described it, there happened some damage to your back some time ago that never really healed. Maybe see a chiropractic. That could be very helpful. Avoid any surgery until all other options are exhausted. Its like with sawing: sawing off is a well known technology, sawing on is not invented yet. The same with cutting.
Make, avoid surgeries until after you're 40, it's no joke, once youre cut, youll never be same again. And lots of problems with surgeries and afterwards. Surgeon are all about cutting, but you have to live with the body for rest of days. Do whatever you have to, but delay surgeries. I'll pray about you and your back.
something to keep in mind when breeding when breeding larger breed to small breed there is risk for birth complications with potential of loosing both mother and baby if baby to large for birth channel
To have any livestock gain weight the fastest feeding grain is the best to use and with pigs and poultry, FREE-CHOICE FEED FOR RAISING MEAT BIRDS AND MEAT PIGS IS THE MOST PRODUCTIVE.
Mike, no doctor or surgeon will ever tell you this but I will. Your back will heal on its own if you give it the opportunity. Twenty years ago I injured my neck an wound up with 3 herniated discs. Four different doctors all swore that I needed surgery. I said NO way. After 4 months of extreme pain it started to heal. I used only ibuprofen and moist heat for therapy to ease the pain. Now after 20 years it will still let me know if I over do it sometimes but I still have full range of motion and most of the time no pain whatsoever.
Yes, I had surgery for ruptured disc's in my lower back and it was a trade off! I got impatient and couldn't wait to get better! It still took a couple years to get my strength back!
YOU WERE BLESSED…. BUT EACH AND EVERY PERSON AND PATIENT AND INJURY ARE SPECIFIC - NOT THE SAME AND NOT WITH THE SAME RESULTS!!! THE WAY I KNOW THIS IS BECAUSE I SURVIVED MY AORTA RUPTURING, IN MY CASE, WHAT HAPPENED TO ME ONLY OCCURS IN 1 IN 1,000!!! AS A TWENTY-SOMETHING FIREFIGHTER/EMT - 5 PTs DIED IN MY AMBULANCE 🚑!!! I INJURED MY BACK AT 17 BUT MUSCLE RELAXERS GOT ME THROUGH THE SHORT TERM BUT REAL HEALING CAME ON A SNOW ❄️ SKIING ⛷️ 🎿 TRIP WHEN I LEARNED SPECIFIC STRETCHING EXERCISES - BUT NOW AS A 66 Y/O MAN I WILL REQUIRE SURGERY!!!
If your raising chickens to try and save money your doing it all wrong. Go to the grocery store when chicken is on sale and get the cuts you want. No carcus weight, cheaper per pound and a ton less work. Same goes for pigs. I was getting pig feed for free and it's still cheaper just to buy it on sale.
I'm afraid that if you don't post on a more regular basis you will loose subscribers. Myself personally find it hard to continue to follow when months go by. I'm sorry but that just happened with the Holts. Hope you and Liz aren't next😢

Thanks for the update. Take care of your back, you do not want to have a long-term issue with it. It is good to hear about Liz enjoying her new job.
Good Morning ☕ Blessings to you Both!! 😀🍁🍂

I agree too, I've had 3 after first one screwed up. Pain daily, waiting for Jesus to return so I can have a new body.

Sorry UA-cam has to mold people’s minds. It’s all about control. Keep doing what you’re doing. 👍

Yes, chiropractors can help immensely! I've had back surgery as well, and I wish I'd had a chiropractor treatments instead of surgery!
Mike; you need to get a splitter to save on your back
I had a little problem with my left knee. I stopped jogging about three months ago and the problem seems to be improving.
back trouble does suck . It can take a while to get better . Hope you get better soon .
Use propane to heat your home so that you can give your back a break!!!
Propane is soooooo
Easy And actually cost is not bad at all!!!
