It’s nice. They bumped it up 2 years ago and bumped it again now that it’s officially a cap class now. Very happy and it’s still not too stronk for what it is. Just powerful enough to actually be able to go off on its own(with a ship inside of course) like it’s meant to.
Such a good move. I always felt like everything but the turrets felt like a capital class ship. The turrets always looked mismatched for the size of the ship. LFG!!
This ship is spawning so many ideas, it's a perfect "sandbox" ship and what I want Star Citizen to enable. I can already see me arranging a "Nerf Gun/paintball course" with cargo crates using wow pistols in the Ironclad. The "live motion" concept art move is EXCELLENT when showing off new ships. I usually think its a relatively cheap trope in visual media (done to cut cost of animating), but here as a proof of concept its the PERFECT use for it. A+ The person/people responsible for the flavor machinima during these ISC releases deserves some praise, as well. It's been fun and immersive and fourth-wall breaking all at once. The basics here is, people willingly have put their money into the ships, happily even! CIG is giving us what we want and we are choosing to pay for it. I think they are doing amazing work and breaking records! I am a total simp for them if appreciating what they are doing makes it so. :P
Until the end I was thinking "What is Scooter's Memaw doing in all these videos?" The face reveal was great. Awesome season, can't wait for it to pick up again.
The reveal of the spaceman is the best. The status updates on the Polaris is awesome news, and the new Ironclad looks to be a good step up point for Cargo Haulers!
This is a awesome looking ship. That said, large multi-crew ships are essentially digital collector items until CIG implements crew ship bed logouts or last point in session (LPS) logouts. Spending an hour or more for a crew to gear up just to fully realize the ship's use isn't appealing to many players, including large orgs. I'm salivating over the concept of major salvage operations with the ironclad and multiple vultures. 2-4 on stripping in vultures, 2 on loading into the bay, and 1 pilot ferrying 2 separate chassis back and forth to sell the cargo.
I get you, but I would rather have them fix the Reclaimer, so you can offload from the Reclaimer. Also, there does need to be a midsized salvager, Vulture is a "light salvage" reclaimer a "heavy salvage". The Vulture feels too small to really warrant the new ship, being more in line with a Cutlass or Connie Andromeda for cargo. Reclaimer is closer to what an Ironclad would be wanted for, but even then the Ironclad is too small, with the Reclaimer having a "snap" storage of 420 (which currently doesn't include the salvage hold, cargo hold, and only half of the processing hold) so final numbers for that would be in the potential of thousands of SCU. So there does need to be a mid sized, with a salvage hold in the low to mid hundreds (as opposed to the Vulture's 13 SCU) but not the thousands (the Reclaimer after it goes through an update, most likely).
Since the end of last summer from around when Starfield fumbled and we also got a new SQ42 trailer, the Inside Star Citizen episodes have been putting out banger after banger... shame they're taking a little break
Me talking to my friend last week about a SuperCatterpillar, well here it is. We can see the insane improvement in design since the Cat, and i love it, Nice work.
Glad you’re releasing yet another ship but can you PLEASE get the backlog capital ships done first? Javelin, Polaris, BMM, etc? It’s only right to get them done before you started on this.
Yeah though it does worry me that they say you don't want to detach it unless you really have to... For the ironclad. I hope that doesn't blow over to the Cat. How awesome isn't it to be able to plonk down cargo barges w/o command module and ferry those back and forth, and use as temp bases, etc. etc.
Fantastic! With up-sized guns and turrets, the Polaris needs nothing else. The Drake Ironclad.... well, it's Drake perfection. Jared, your "toon" is absolutely amazing. Mine, on the other hand, needs some major work. I am no artist, so, not so good.
@@Cmdr_V Well it's a size up from the Cat. I hope they overhaul the Cat because it's a cool idea with the modules. I want to see those get implemented. But this new ship is amazing for Cargo and sets the standard IMO.
I think it’s awesome that they are working on all these cool vehicles, the Ironclad looks great and is definitely something I think will bring a change to the game. My concern is what about the older vehicles that have gotten no attention or updates in years? The Liberator, namely because I have it, looks like an amazing ship, but we have heard so little, and they are introducing new ships and finishing them before other, previously released ships, are getting done. The Banu merchantman is another that comes to mine. The hype was there a year or two ago, and now we have heard nothing since
Now, I mostly stick to soloable ships, so I'm stopping at the 600i and C2 size. That said, I love to seem more variety in the 'verse and the Ironclad is a beautiful expansion of the Drake catalog. The Kraken is my current favourite capital ship in the 'verse so anything that brings is closer is cool to see. So, why did I comment? Because that ending was awesome. When it hit 15:36 and we get to see who's in the suit... and then he faceplants, tripping on a Pico? Perfection.
@@eggertime Well, than every ship which isnt a fighter will be unflyable solo. Even a Freelancer has Components which can be hit, its not much different in a C2. Its a bit more to walk, but walking only makes a few % of the needed time in Engineering Gameplay.
@@xkitejunkie No, it means that ain't Memaw. Did you see anyone get eaten? I didn't. And Memaw would be double fisting two double-dogs in each hand, while still managing to berate Scooter into getting more.
2:20 it looks to be able to fit 832 SCU of cargo space. If you look at the 16SCU on the floor to the right of it it looks like 1 more will fit, and the rest to the left is just empty space for other things like for example small vehicles. Now from right to left there is a total of 13 slots for 16SCU worth of cargo, plus stacking it with 2 per stack, now you double it to the other side to get the 832SCU of cargo storage.
Best ISC season to date for sure. Have a good break Jared, loved the spaceman reveal. The Polaris is looking good so far and interesting to see a new larger Drake ship.
With CIG’s way of doing things, i really hope they acknowledge this as to not flush SC down the toilet. If they introduce death of a spaceman without having the game in a stable released state, in which you dont randomly blow up to a bug that was “fixed” 2 years ago. No one is going to play.
I wish I could like this a thousand times! YES Faterpillar! YES DRAKE assets for Kraken! YES... WINDOWS ON SHIPS!!! And omg best outro of the season 😂 Thanks guys! Enjoy the downtime 🎉
Regarding the 'death of a spaceman'. I hope they add some kind of 'SCAV' mode similar to Escape from Tarkov. Let us occasionally play in the Verse with disposable side characters to flesh out the numbers for big fighter battles or community events. i like the idea of it but there's a certain pressure that is nice to escape at times.
Called it from the first time Mr. Orange appeared on screen. That being said, Man I can't wait for the Ironclad. I was expecting everything from drake BUT a super armored cargo ship that holds more than a Caterpillar but less than a Hull C.
where as lots of the other ships come off as almost Gaudy to me, Like if Apple made spaceships instead of iPhone's I love how utilitarian DRAKE ships are, there is no embellishment or excessively bright lights or shiny white panels and I love them for that, Drake is the working man's ship building company.
Ironclad having variants is good to hear, but doesn't that cargo room seem perfect for modules? Like a market module would be pretty cool. Cool ship tho! Kraken owners will be happy to see all those assets being worked on for sure.
Could you land a Valture in the Ironclad? Or what would make the Ironclad stand out would be a landing pad on the retractable roofing.. you cold carry a small, medium or large fighter to help protect the Ironclad and its cargo.
I remember the Odyssey announcement with a nice white box like this and announcement that its in development. That was 2 years ago and its been totally forgotten by CIG.
"In development" means little. Making the concept art is already development, gray boxing in 3D and white boxing is also development, but at that point is still just a placeholder not even remotely half backed. What tells how many time may take is to know what position is in the pipeline. Those who are actively creating the ships are working on the top one, two or five.
@@dawnfire82 I think the point is once again selling a new ship concept when millions of supporter dollars have already been spent on buying ships that have been 'in production' for over a decade now. Maybe work on the backlog before selling a new ship NOBODY asked for. Then update current fleet to gold standard; THEN sell us new ships.
Loved the ending Jared, thank you, I'm still LMAO. All the rest is great news, Might have found something to replace the C2 with, but I think I missed the SCU space the Ironclad is going to have.
@12:00 I do hope this is not how the torpedoes will be loaded, I would have thought that in this century they could design an automated torpedo loader at least!!
I really hope CIG will consider S6 guns for the Polaris. There are zero ships in Star Citizen that have S6 guns even though they've been available for sale ingame for years. I also hope that CIG would consider giving the Polaris additional hardpoints for automated point defense turrets; especially now that it has grown to the size where it's a Light Frigate instead of a Corvette. The much smaller RSI Perseus has 2 automated defense turrets so it would stand to reason that the larger RSI Polaris would have 3-5 automated defense turrets.
Then they can just remove the perseus from the conceps. Perseus is to kill polaris. It a sub capital killer and polaris maybe capital but it a small capital. Perseus should be the nemesis of those ships when smaller ships are nemesis of perseus where polaris gets an advantage trough having hangar and better guns vs fighters. The words that are not mine are: Perseus and hammerhead will be great team. Perseus takes on weaknesses of hammerhead amd vica versa. Hammerhead wil be strong vs fighters but weak vs big ships. Perseus is the opposite. So if they gonna fit the polaris with s6 guns then the 4 s7 guns on perseus will not be that nuch better anymore. And the actual hunter ship (perseus) will be the hunted.
@@Syphirioth That's not correct and the Perseus was never meant to be a Polaris killer at all. It was always advertised as a sub-capital killer; meaning ships like the Hammerhead at most. The Polaris is in a completely different league and would obliterate a Perseus.
@@DanakarEndeel No it is not. Why you all think polaris is capital like idris or kraken? It is the step before those. Polaris is a 800 euro ship no a 1500-2500 one. Comparable with Perseus. So perseus is the nemesis of those ships like polaris size. Polaris is in the ballpark of Perseus. Hammerhead. A2 price wise. So it will not be a killer like you all think. Cause A2 is also twice the price as C2 cause it has more guns. Polaris will be good allrounder. And since they base all pricing arround combat capabilities pretty much I will say Polaris is not the top of food chain as many think. Reclaimer is capital to... so wether polaris captial or sub capital doesnt say much at this point based on ship sizes.
@@DanakarEndeel And Perseus would be a heavy attack frigate then with 4 times S7 cannons. All Perseus is designed for is killing big ships and has weakness vs fighters.
I'm a proud Polaris owner, and I very genuinely can't wait for its release. The view from the cockpit and the attention you're putting in to the torpedo's is highly commendable. It feels like it's almost perfect but, the recently shown iteration has the turrets very different to the second phase concept art (which I thought truly hit the ball out of the park). The current turrets have a really boxy aesthetic and a bit of a Drake look to them. Please, if you're planning on up-gunning the Polaris (which will be amazing and also greatly appreciated but I didn't think needed, so is a very cheeky bonus), can you make those turrets look a little more sleek like in the re-concepting? Then, I think she'll be fully on point and perfect. Cheers and keep up the top work!
The turrets literally have the shape of the bridge, albeit somewhat taller, which is a good thing, because a lot of the turrets in the game offer poor visibility (check out the new Retaliator turrets). This is a change that should be applauded; you're only focusing on looks alone, while turrets with poor visibility make them borderline unusable or frustrating.
I love the lil detail with the visible missilerack/magazin on the bridge. Kinda reminds me to the Constellation. You can see the missilerack/magazin there too.
13:39 is what I came to hear. Appreciate the public acknowledgment, John, considering your prior statement to bring her legacy turrets up in size to account for the modern turret firepower landscape of the other ships. Especially after seeing that they've seemingly been NERFED compared to prior specs, in their current and latest iteration.

@@alexpetrov8871easier to make something totally new I guess
Perfection.
Have fun with the C2 engineering
@@eggertime Well, than every ship which isnt a fighter will be unflyable solo. Even a Freelancer has Components which can be hit, its not much different in a C2. Its a bit more to walk, but walking only makes a few % of the needed time in Engineering Gameplay.
@friest1984 realistically, Yes. However there is a difference between having to sprint a football field and having to sprint to the back of a bus.
TBF, the interior of a Hercules is only _half_ a football field.
it's so endearing to see Blender being used in high-end game development like this.
i was positively shocked
1:18 MEMAW dropped her doubledog!!
Scooters never gonna hear the end of it.
Are you sure? The other people there were not immediately fleeing in terror, and the event hall is still intact...
Does this mean MEMAW is actually Jared?!
@@xkitejunkie they both have the same beard shape.
Spaceman reveal: Priceless.
Best ISC season to date for sure. Have a good break Jared, loved the spaceman reveal. The Polaris is looking good so far and interesting to see a new larger Drake ship.
And straight into the backlog it gooooooes....
Haha true 😂
Release planned for 2051
@@Shypagreat! I look forward to my 76th birthday 🎂!!
@@joelellis7035 But it will not be gold-standard this date, just to be clear!
@@Shypa okay, then I'll save my money for the artificial organ replacement so I can live to see the gold-standard version in 2078.
The Ironclad / Fatterpillar looks great. Have a good break Jared and the ISC team, well earned.
My body is so ready for the polaris. Got mine this go round. Everything looks so good. These guys never fail to impress me. Good job!
Every server is going to have 400 polaris when its released.
@@jasonfrost5025 As it was with the Carrack. They'll balance out as people melt them after they get a chance to try it.
With CIG’s way of doing things, i really hope they acknowledge this as to not flush SC down the toilet. If they introduce death of a spaceman without having the game in a stable released state, in which you dont randomly blow up to a bug that was “fixed” 2 years ago. No one is going to play.
Huge plus for the spaceman compilation and reveal. Well done!
New drake looks dope. Great progress with Polaris.
I wish I could like this a thousand times! YES Faterpillar! YES DRAKE assets for Kraken! YES... WINDOWS ON SHIPS!!! And omg best outro of the season 😂 Thanks guys! Enjoy the downtime 🎉
"stormclad" has a pretty nice ring to it for the assault variation
That Polaris bridge... and the Ironclad lander needs a machinima with the Highfleet themesong...
Thanks for the update on the Polaris, much appreciated ❤
Haha then ending, the Pillsberry doughboy armor actually being Jarred! Awesome, just about spit my coffee all over my work desk. Thanks.
Can't wait to try the Polaris
Jared falling down at the end a reference to when he fell down irl perhaps? if so, quite funny.
Assault Ironclad looks amazing!
I liked what I heard about the Polaris.
They should rush to complete a deep space long-expeditionary exploration vessel when there's only one active system...
Then update current fleet to gold standard; THEN sell us new ships.
it'll be only useful when Pyro is out, so wait a little longer mate
I think it would be cool to see a combat variant of the 890
Loved the ending Jared, thank you, I'm still LMAO. All the rest is great news, Might have found something to replace the C2 with, but I think I missed the SCU space the Ironclad is going to have.
Probably 1400 SCU, minimum. The C2 carries two Tonks, and the Ironclad is concepted to carry 4.
The end animation 😮😮
Sounds like a flying hangar to me
@12:00 I do hope this is not how the torpedoes will be loaded, I would have thought that in this century they could design an automated torpedo loader at least!!
You had me at "bigger guns".
The Perseus is now effectively the new RSI Corvette while the Polaris is more of a Light Attack Frigate.
I didn't think I'd care about the Iron Clad, but ended up really liking it. Polaris is looking fantastic and so glad to hear about the up-gunning!
the Disco ending was the best
1:24 them strings slide into the most epic sound, every time gets me 10/10
The montage at the end was 9.99/10!
Now that's how you do a strutpit! Removing the obstructions from that main cone of view. Looking good team.
LOL. The ending was the best part of all this. HAHAH.
I love the lil detail with the visible missilerack/magazin
on the bridge. Kinda reminds me to the Constellation.
You can see the missilerack/magazin there too.
This is the Personal Personal Hangar.
Thanks for upgun of Polaris' turrets, CIG

13:39 is what I came to hear.
Appreciate the public acknowledgment, John, considering your prior statement to bring her legacy turrets up in size to account for the modern turret firepower landscape of the other ships. Especially after seeing that they've seemingly been NERFED compared to prior specs, in their current and latest iteration.
I can’t wait to get it when it comes out in 2040 😢💀
Love the update on the Polaris but can I just say how much I appreciate the Ironclad already. When think of a more rugged sci fi experience this checks boxes for days.
Dont tell us that the Ironclad is coming before the release of the Kraken, 8 years you know 😅
My first thought seeing this was "It's LITERALLY a Drake shitbox. And I love it."
