Wonyoung's surgery took her from a 9.5/10 to a 12/10. The changes are all so subtle and beautifully done
I agree they act like she was ugly before
ok
why do y’all always give these backhanded compliments
@@nnnn-sc2imi don’t think anyone is doing that. by “9.5/10” i’m pretty sure they meant on the beauty standard scale, otherwise she’s essentially perfect to the average person. the surgeries are done to make her even MORE beautiful, and that’s it.
(ps. i’m not for nor against PS, i just care if it’s done by choice)
Wonyoung was a 10/10 imagine ranking 4th in the prettiest trainees ranking out of 92 other trainees at only 13 when you haven’t even hit puberty yet

@@mariasol1545 or having a naturally beautiful face + makeup exists🙄
I want to add that companies often scout people BECAUSE they are naturally very pretty. Surgeries often just enhance what they've already got. So basically... people who aren't pretty don't even get the chance to become trainees - beauty is one of the criteria to get into the industry
this!
This! I remember a male idol talking about how a scout literally chased him down because of his looks.
And the other side of it - even incredibly beautiful idols talk about how they "aren't pretty enough" for the industry. As a Moomoo, I vividly remember a. Solar saying she didn't even bother auditioning for SM because she didn't think they'd pass her because of her looks, b. Hwasa talking about being rejected for being "fat and not pretty" despite companies heaping praise on her vocals, c. The girls talking to JYP about how RBW said "yeah you're not tall or pretty so you have to excel in performance" and to this day I'm just... bitch where? All four of them are stun???
They will look for pretty people and also people with a nice facial structure or body, meaning you don't have to be beautiful, but a great candidate to look after plastic surgery. Thats why we see pre debut pictures of idols who looked nothing like the korean beauty standard. Yes, they do look for candidates for plastic surgery and it is this fucked up.
@nicoler5713 let's be real they don't fit korean beauty standards but their still gorg
@princessaroyale you are not going to find disagreement here. I think it just says something about the standards that women who are quite obviously like, way "above average" in looks are considered "not good enough". Kpop beauty standards warp the brain man
Finallyyy someone talked about the difference of plastic surgery and surgery + they were pretty from the start!! also weight lose from the industry…and it makes me sad when some stans don’t appreciate idols for anything other than appearances and then are like “oh my gosh!! Their face changed blah blah blah” like your videos are soo good
did you see recently that Giselle fansite edited her face to the point she didn't look like herself and was as white as the screen behind her? I also found out wonyoung's fansites edit her legs to look smaller like you can never win with idol photos.
SMALLER THAN THEY ALREADY ARE??? 🎶Tell me tell me t-t-t-t-t-tell me 🎶 your lying ☹️
if these weirdos cared about young girls they wouldn’t literally keep slandering said young girls lmao
I also think it’s hilarious how they always compare super old photos (pre debut where they don’t have stylists and filters) with the present, going through puperty usually changes ppls faces a lot especially if they suddenly become an idol with a stricter diet and insane workout routines
I literally looked DIABOLICAL when I was 12-15. I never had surgery but if I ever got famous people would definitely accuse me of it if this is the logic they’re using
Your comment literally made me think of Wonyoung
I hate it when people compare photos of her when she 6 or 13 years old to pictures when she’s 19 they don’t compare pictures of Wonyoung after puberty because they know that Wonyoung looks practically the same (with small tweaks here and there) like they would compare 5 year old pictures of Wonyoung when she had a chubby cheeks and accuse her of getting buccal fat removal
i think most idols do get surgery but that doesn't mean you will look like them the second you get ur surgery done and as you said they have teams of stylists that help them look better and the average person doesn't idols are SUPPOSED to look pretty 24/7 its apart of their literal job in the kpop industry. (also good job on being on a video grind)
also, as someone who studied styling in uni, i can tell you: the models (in this case idols) are literally just standing there as dolls while stylists do ALL the work. it's BEYOND unfair to compare a regular person like me and you to a bunch of professionals who have probably studied how to style a celeb/ idol.
i think about how predebut karina was featured in a lot of Taemin's performances and was already pulling in a lot of hype for aespa. along with praise, sadly she got a lot of hate when she debuted because she looked different? allegedly SM made her get work done so she could embody the AI concept and be the face of the group (even though she looked just as pretty beforehand) what i'm saying is no idol deserves hate for that because its almost never a choice they make themselves and it never means they weren't strikingly gorgeous beforehand.
she mostly got the nose surgery ( it had a bump before which wasn't that visible ), v shaped jaw, double eyelids I think. her stylist back then said she looks different with different kind of eyebrows.
THANK YOU for calling out that weird plastic surgeon. He's literally profiting on bringing down women in the name of "truth" and has in the past basically insulted them. He did a video on Aespa a few years ago and just called Ningning Jennie from Blackpink because of surgery or whatever.
Another thing you brought up was how much hair and makeup can change your appearance, and that is EXTREMELY true. In 2020 i went from having very long hair to short hair and I've had short hair (a bixie rn) (ignore my photo its a cosplay) and it did completely change my face shape. Same with makeup styles. And even just puberty in my teen years also changed my face as I grew into my 20s. I found a photo of myself at 15 ans showed it to my new friend (who i only met in my 20s) and she didnt even recognize me. Since I am poor, obviously i did not have plastic surgery, but my face still changed.
So many of these idols debut at young ages so if theres a small change in their face, I dont immediately go "oh they had surgery", I think "oh they're a young person whose body and brain is still changing" because thats the logical thing to do if it isnt an entirely new feature or something. People are so weird about idols.
thank you so much, I’m so tired of seeing “young girls this, young girls that” excuses while they shit on idols. I dont believe they actually care, they just saw someone saying it and ran with it lol they are just insecure and try to make themselves feel better
Most annoying thing is when you defend idols from obvious bullying and they say “why are you denying ps it’s okay to have it”, no you’re not gonna gaslight me
I find it Terrifying to depend financially on your looks. Like it declines in time and just having a pimple due to hormones or stress one day it’s doomsday for everyone
Girly u r on the grinddd, a video almost everyday?
I’ll sleep when I’m dead 😏💕💐
Idk man. I get how the beauty standard is just different, but making the comparison between braces and eyelid surgery is just crazy to me. We're now at the point where minors (!) are getting procedures before they even debut in a group. They haven"t even grown into their natural face before they get work done. I don't see how thats ethical or comparable to something like braces in the west...and people in Korea get braces too (in kpop as well)?. What if the idol doesn't even want to get anything done? We all know how messed up contracts in the music industry in general are.
agreed, that was an L take
@@Ren-nu9hwsometimes it is, especially to those who have a lot of fat on their eyelid area, tho it is true that most people do it to look “better”
You totally missed my point at the braces thing. I’m not dumb I know Koreans get braces too. It’s just a comparison. Braces are also more often than not for cosmetics. It’s been normalised in our society so people don’t usually give it much thought. It’s a minor cosmetic change just like getting double eyelid surgery. The comparison was to open your eyes about how the “Koreans get a lot of plastic in their faces” thing just isn’t true. Sure, if you take one piece of what I’m saying in an entire segment out of context it’s gonna sound crazy
@@Ren-nu9hwsaying braces are medical is funny to me because more often than not it’s for cosmetic reasons! But we believe what we believe I guess (ps: where in the hell did I imply that Koreans don’t get braces 💀)
@@NatashaLkim um braces are medical 😂it will effect the way u eat when ur older. For me I have an overbite and that's one of the reason I did braces 😊
The comparison of braces to double eye surgery was really eye opening for me. i never thought of it like that! i've had braces since i was very young to help correct my severe mouth pain, so this parallel gave me a lightbulb moment lol. they seem similar enough to me, but just approached from different lenses like you said! Same with hair extensions, eyelash extenstions & eyebrow treatments.
P.S. we've been fed so welllll :'D videos so often omg... bless you, i hope you get one million bagillion followers
I think people really doubt the power styling and good makeup that fits your face can have on a person, like I feel like idols nowadays have better makeup compared to like 2nd gen for example
People always include fillers and dental work as plastic surgery and it’s so irritating. Like…nose filler and a full on nose job are two different things. I saw someone ask about idols who haven’t got ps and someone said some random male idol. In the replies, someone said “That’s wrong bc he got vaneers”. I wa so confused. When did dental work count as plastic surgery??
I feel like people use the term plastic surgery when they mean "cosmetic procedures" a lot of the time.
4:32 the picture in the bottom isn’t a pre debut picture of Karina she took that picture in London I think. Lmao 🤣 not me knowing that omg. I promise am not an obsessed fan it was in an aespa vlog. 😂
Omg im so pissed I made that mistake. I gotta cut it out now 😭😭😭
@@NatashaLkim it’s okay they do look similar
I have one really random annoyance with people claiming an idol has done some plastic surgery but their facial expressions are completely different in the comparison pictures like yeah her nose is gonna look bigger when she’s smiling bro
I have nothing against you but it's really easy to say these things when you're (yourself) drop dead gorgeous tbh. A lot of people's perception of their self worth was severely rotted by the k-pop beauty industry/ culture and we in my opinion should be more empathetic towards these haters (given they're not overly hateful/ dangerous/ death threats, of course) and know that they hate because they have huge insecurities. Idols are rich, famous, and gorgeous, they should *really* work on not caring about what others say about them because all things considered when it comes to beauty they won the lottery. They're (or rather, their company) selling an unattainable image through their ads for beauty products , diet recommendations, the culture in general etc. They aren't as guiltless as the public is- BOTH parties are equally as toxic and destructive to each other. They are required to indirectly say "look at me, I'm a goddess, aspire to be me" The meaning of an idol. It's a little eff'd but it's the truth.
The kpop industry makes sure to influence people's self esteem because that is part of their business strategy. They work in tandem with plastic surgeons, makeup companies, etc, directly or not, so I don't get why we need to constantly defend idols. The public is often told to develop thick skin about these issues, but the idols are constantly defended and coddled by us, fans. I don't think this is fair for the fans.
Tldr let's all be kind to both parties
A good example of someone who handles hate gracefully is wonyoung. I love her a lot for it- she's talented and beautiful, won't apologise for it, and I think feels mostly unbothered. She is honest with herself and others and I always admired her for it!
Nobodies gonna give empathy to those haters if you feel insecure about yourself you don’t need to project your insecurities on other people because not only are you hurting yourself but you are hurting the idols themselves instead they should probably work on loving their body and the way they look and stop comparing themselves to every idol they see and this is coming from a person that experienced all of this (minus the hating part) and gained an ED because of that
they still are not exempt from blame tho if kpop makes u insecure go to therapy or self relflect why. Haters are the ones that end up making it worse bc they can't face themselves and to "get even" they do like what this video says. We can blame the industry all we want but at the same time masses buy into it perpretrating the cycle endlessly
@@markigirl2757 oh yes as I said the haters are wrong as well but the people who feed the haters attention are honestly just perpetuating the cycle because haters like the attention of it all, too
@@_Wonnielvrs totally agree with you, i'm just saying hating back against the haters is counter productive. I never said the haters are right

I liked this video plus I feel like one of the reasons someone becomes and idol/celebrity is because they are already beautiful. So the pool of people even being able to be trainees are already prettier/more handsome than the average person so a little plastic surgery goes further than it would for someone with average looks.

For real!!! I feel like I can talk about it because I have had a rhinoplasty (and just recovering from a revision to get the last bump out) and I will in no wayyyy be as close as being wonyong or Karina pretty like I'm not delulu 🤣🤣 I feel like it's important to say things like that because so many young people get into k-pop and fall into the trap of "I could be as pretty if I was rich enough to get surgery like them" when no... Idol ALWAYS get casted for their looks years before getting any work done, it means the blank canvas already had A LOT of potential from the start. I think it's important to understand that there is a lot coming to help the idols visual but also sadly for us commun people a lot of luck from the start
excellent take. No one looks good 24/7, not even people with plastic surgery. I also do not like any of the surgeons that talk abt idols; that surgeon actually doesn't do it to shit on the idols, he does it to promote his OWN clinic and uses idols as the scapegoat. He is actually very smart about this, and is using these methods to essentially showcase how "knowledgeable" he is in plastic surgery. People, usually young women and men will look at this and go to him in hopes that he can make that person look like their favorite idol. It's a genuine advertising technique taught in schools, esp business; and usually people behind covert advertisements don't talk about the ethics of it. It's genuinely scary, and his page shouldn't even be legal as it's a means of advertising to kids through humor and bullying idols. It's kind of horrible.
The reality is, these idols like you said have teams behind them, whole companies behind them; theres even selfie classes in some of these companies. So do celebs. We should always remind ourselves that they're human, not perfect with the ability to make mistakes, be bad people, not look good all the time etc. It's just that they're all doing their job. And it's nothing to aspire to either, maybe their work ethic sure; but we need to remind ourselves that more often than not the reality of being an idol entails a lot of putting away a level of humanity in order to showcase perfection that their jobs can come to expect from them, and the best thing we can do for them and ourselves is to see them as whole human beings instead of putting them on a pedestal.
And remember, another person’s beauty doesn’t take away yours, the fact that Wonyoung, Karina or any kpop idol is beautiful doesn’t make you ugly. Great video ♡
We know they had surgery but the two girls in the thumbnail always looked pretty even before. We can even argue Wonyoung looked more conveniently attractive pre-surgery based on Western beauty standards that favor a square jaw for ex, and yes the doctor is a definitely creep...
Out of context, you are so gorgeous ❤❤❤❤
Awww thank you so much darling 💐💕
I appreciate you being real abt the filter
+ Korea has the most cosmetic surgery procedures done in the world as of 2024. it's so normalized (esp on the eyelids), yet everyone in korea does not look like an idol, even if they had surgery. it depends where you start off.
Those ppl that make a list of like HARSH HARSH surgery which would have left the idols out of commission for at least weeks or months when they didnt have any hiatus is so funny to me. They have Stylists around them that micromanage every aspect of thier looks.
Plus they discredit how far a bit of botox and filler can go to enhance these Idols natural beauty..
Its mostly coping bc they thik such beauty must only be able to be aquired with harsh surgery bc for THEM theyd need hars durgery to even start reaching that amount of beauty :,)
Something i think people forget about plastic surgery is that the before is always beautiful and the surgeons just enhance it, and their surgeons are a goddamn gold standard.
People are lying to themselves calling Karina, Wonyoung, Winter, Rosé etc etc ugly without surgery, they're just mad that even with surgery they wouldnt be as gorgeous as these people, even if they had the same surgeon.
Its basically, an already beautiful person, enhances that beauty with surgery, has some of the best make up artists, harstylists, stylists, filters, who create a certain persona with each look you see.
You at home are not going to be able to create something to the same scale on your own without assistance. These are not average people they are celebrities, even the "ugliest" orno. Convetional celebrity isnt even ugly theyre like a hot average person.
Also stop shitting on average looks, this obssesion with being a main character is going to shoot alot of you guys in the foot.
I’ve been eating up all your content over the past few days! Can’t wait for your channel to grow 🫶🏻
This is so true. Enhancements need a good base for them to work. If you naturally look like Shrek, then no amount of makeup, exercise, or surgery will make you look like Wonyoung.
nah cuz i saw people say that the girls from (G)I-DLE cant relate to "Allergy" or smth because they have plastic surgery...
Teenage years is like our ugly duckling era. Hormonal and likely to start having weird changes that can look awkward in the beginning till you grow into your features and learn to take care of yourself too.
That's why it's important not to have ps when you're still growing. Perhaps it's not that your features are actually bad, it's just how you feel about it? I feel like my emotions are messy as a teen and shouldn't be trusted 😅
The issue I have is that Wonyoung ( and quite a few idols ) get these surguries when they are VERY young. And I personally see minors going under the knife as a negative thing.
According to wikipedia, Wonyoung debut in Iz-One in 2018. I believe shes 19/20 now so that means alot of the surgeries/procedures she was exposed to started when she was around 13/14yrs old.
I personally believe Idols like wonyoung and more need more protections/protective contract clauses + more put in place to ward off corporations so they can at least get involved ( by choice ) with irreversable surgeries + no invasive procedures when they are adults and not children.
And there was nothing to “fix” on Wonyoung. She was adorable on the show and basically took her to the side and said “We need to fix your face” like who does that!?!!?? To a child…. The surgeries won’t age well either.
I feel like we shouldnt even talk abt plastic surgery with young girls unless its an apparent issue that NEEDS to be talked about imo.
Queen spoiling us with daily uploads
omg i was JUST thinking abt this exact thing yesterday wtf... you're so right tho!! not everyone can pull off plastic surgery even the tiniest procedures so to act like they're entirely "fake" is just dumb asf..
You should model you are so pretty
you’re 100% right
Yes! ALL OF THIS 👏
I fully agree with your video and I have to admit as someone with a Pinterest Fanpage I often make the idols look whiter on pictures cuz I think more people will like it and cuz sometimes the camera which the pic was taken on makes the idols appear a lot darker than they are ..
Oh that's kinda....
You’re supporting toxic beauty standards
As a Karina bias, I have to deal with these idiots all the time. You are cooking it with these videos, keep it up ❤

Thank you for giving actual logical and sensible opinions on this topic, OH MY GAWD. It actually drives me mad.
I’m dead at your mom got buccal fat removal 💀
even if you look at their predebut photos, trainees and idols are genuinely selected BECAUSE they are naturally very pretty. companies are not even recruiting average looking people. they're recruiting very pretty people to start with. we can cite countless examples of idols who got street scouted just because of what they looked like. and then they get surgery to look even better or more ethereal or whatever the fuck but they're literally already insanely beautiful people. the only reason fans may not think that about trainees is they've lost sight of what normal people look like without filters and stage makeup
i think we should normalise (for ourselves AND the idols) to use beauty filters ESPECIALLY if you're not photogenic.
bro can you please buy a greenscreen or software to key you out and put you in (at least) a more inetresting room. i swear your average view time would go up 30% because your current room is like white room torture ( no hate). and when you find your jaw to big, instead of using filters you need to put your camera higher. do youtrself a favor and watch some ,,talking head,, camera and lighting setup tutorials
