- Megalopolis sci-fi drama from the iconic Francis Ford Coppola.
Megalopolis is a Roman Epic fable set in an imagined Modern America. The City of New Rome must change, causing conflict between Cesar Catilina, a genius artist who seeks to leap into a utopian, idealistic future, and his opposition, Mayor Franklyn Cicero, who remains committed to a regressive status quo, perpetuating greed, special interests, and partisan warfare. Torn between them is socialite Julia Cicero, the mayor’s daughter, whose love for Cesar has divided her loyalties, forcing her to discover what she truly believes humanity deserves.
Megalopolis stars Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Talia Shire, Jason Schwartzman, Kathryn Hunter, Grace VanderWaal, Chloe Fineman, James Remar, D.B. Sweeney, and Dustin Hoffman. The film is directed, written, and produced by Francis Ford Coppola alongside Anahid Nazarian, Barrie Osborne, and Darren Demetre as executive producers.
Megalopolis is in theaters on September 27.

😂 Great! ❤
lol haha
🤣🤣🤣
But you have to remind everyone of all the times they doubted you. You know, from your journal, where you keep the records.
Bro!! 😂
At least no one can say the trailer gave away the movie
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love that Aubrey Plaza is reprising her most iconic character by playing Janet Snakehole in this movie.
The microsecond she was in the trailer was literally the only part that made me want to see it.
me too her character looks cool

It has a valid point to make, It’s insistent!
What does that even mean peeta

“Unfortunately, no one can be told what Megalopolis is. You have to see it for yourself."
Revisionist history to say The Godfather was "ahead of its time", as if it took a few years for people to come around to it. It was a critically adored box office smash that even won the Oscar for Best Picture.
😂😂 They lied about all these quotes
@@shmurk9829 Oh absolutely but at least with Dracula you could actually make the case that it was a little divisive upon release. It's almost hard to imagine a film being better received than The Godfather was at the time. For a brief while it was even the highest grossing movie of all time. Great film obviously but you can't say people "weren't ready for it" in 1972. They clearly were!
The negative reviews are made up with ChatGPT
@@shmurk9829 no they did not lol they posted quotes from reviewers at that time safe to say all this movie are divisive
PR Team: "This trailer should age well."
Narrator: "It did. Seriously."
Lionsgate issued this apology for misquoting the critics:
“We offer our sincere apologies to the critics involved and to Francis Ford Coppola and American Zoetrope for this inexcusable error in our vetting process. We screwed up. We are sorry.”
The attempt at sabotaging this film has been extraordinary
@@mildredhousefilmswait, how does them lying about quotes constitute as other people sabotaging the film? Wouldn't that fall under sabotage from within, even if it was a mistake?
@@mildredhousefilmsWhy would they ”sabotage” the movie? And for what reason?

Bad sign when you start your trailer by preempting how bad the reviews are going to be and then implying it’s actually a classic… strange approach
Patton (writer);Godfather; Godfather 2, The Conversation (same year); Apocalypse Now. THAT was Coppola in the 70's , the man LITERALLY made NOTHING but classics for an ENTIRE decade. Not many humans who ever existed can say that.I think a little indulgence is warranted if chosen.
@@toddhanley6982 They could have easily done that by just listing all the great movies he made, like the trailer of Avatar did (which namedropped all of James Cameron's beloved classics), but instead they decided to paint Coppola as some sort of misunderstood genius, when in reality most of his work has been praised by critics for decades.
@@ThierryVerhoeven True
This movie is destined to become a cult classic or an all time flop. No exceptions.
^who's quote is this?
This looks like it has the potential to be the new "Babylon" or "Southland Tales".
Cult classics are very often flops.
@@lukashepp5157 babylon was genius and its very funny to me how its hated on so much. we can all come back in 20 years though when your kids are calling it their favorite niche film.
@@williamgregory1848 Is it this urban philosophy? Pff! So smart! Any bet?
I'm obsessed with this trailer. No idea what's going on but I'm here for it. I'm ready! 😎
They should’ve shown the reviews from all of Francis Ford Coppola’s bad movies. Finian’s Rainbow, One From the Heart, Garden’s of Stone, Youth Without Youth, Twixt, and Jack. At least you don’t need ChatGPT to make bad reviews of those movies.
The only one of those I've even heard of is Jack.
Jack is a masterpiece
Cloud Atlas was similarly polarizing when it came out and it ended up being a great movie so I'll give this one a chance.
What self-fellation is this?
Is this the trailer with the fake quotes?
Yup
Lionsgate? More like Lying’s Gate
Lol so their marketing strategy is gaslighting everyone. The emperor has no clothes.
It looks like my kind of movie - bigger than life requiring multiple viewings to see everything. Definitely will be looking forward to watching.
Idgaf I’m excited as hell for this movie
The trailer was taken down from the lionsgate channel due to the fake negative reviews on Coppola’s 3 movies he has made in the past, and that the studio had messed up the trailer with that type of backlash.
"A movie that will advance one frame at a time..." ;)
Lionsgate fired the marketing team that made the false quotes because it was AI generated.
Too bad they got BUSTED using fake review quotes. Doing that shafted A Knights Tale, which is a shame it really was the best movie that year.
Looking forward to watch this film.
Specially since is been in the making for almost 40 years.
I’m getting Jupiter Ascending vibes
Jaja 😂
Movie is gonna flop. Beginning basically says “the audience won’t understand this masterpiece so they’ll review it poorly but trust me bro it’s a masterpiece”.
Then Mr. Francis should enjoy that by himself...
won't matter to Coppola. He makes these movies for himself.
exactly.... Lol
@@jacktheboss This time it will matter. He 100% bankrolled the movie and it’s going to tank really hard.
@@daudimasinde6280 but you’re still someone on social media with numbers in your username talking about a mount Rushmore creative artist. Let’s just get things into context.

One of the best trailers I've ever seen...can't wait to see the final thing
What a very...defensive trailer
Attracted to the trailer cuz of the fake quotes, stayed because it feels like self-indulgent slop.
fake quotes lmao
The casting alone has me baffled.
“Two words masterpiece”. Some guy😏
If anything else this looks absolutely wild.
He sold his vineyard to make this
should’ve showcased his magnum opus Jack to really hit it home

Beautiful cinematography.
Guys, look at me. I'm a genius.
Probably should be called, “Megaflopolis!”

The quotes in the begining look like a parody.
The quotes at the start have been confirmed to be AI generated.

IDGAF about The Haters. I'm there, Dude.
aubrey looks gorgeous in this movie
Is this a trailer for the director?
I've seen this film before, it's called "Coupon: The Movie".
Critics are saying it’s: “Warm…and mandatory”
I’m excited to see this!
This movie may be the metropolis of our time.
Gave me goosebumps. Nothing else matters. Cant wait.
This will be one of the movies of all time
Seriously? Somebody hired Adam Driver to star in a movie?
This is the weirdest Disney Star Wars yet.
Surprised Rex Reed was able to keep his job that long.
😂😂
The movie’s supposed to be Shia Lebouf’s comeback, and it feels like a low budget indie film you see on UA-cam.
It’s not his comeback movie at all. He’s still been in movies and they are all independent movies. As in he is not in Hollywood studio movies since he burned too many bridges. it doesn’t look like a low budget indie at all.
It’s his comeback in a blockbuster. He hasn’t been in a blockbuster since Transformers 3.
Rule of thumb: Unless your movie is a comedy or satire of a particularly artistic genre, don't start it off with fake film critic quotes about your previous movies. Whether they're fake positive quotes, or even fake negative quotes in this particular case.
Rule of thumb : giving films or marketing any rules is how you get the same remakes and no new IP's
No idea what this movie is about beyond the fact the audio engineer has a major hard on for orchestral drums.
Is this the trailer with the made-up quotes from critics, that the distributor has apologised for and promised to withdraw?
It’s one thing to make up positive reviews, but deliberately making up bad ones? Seriously?
Look for "Megalopolis Trailer Pulled Offline After Quotes Criticizing Francis Ford Coppola Are Discovered to Be Fake" Lionsgate used ChatGPT to make this trailer ... IGN and The New York Times just reported on it

Yes lmao
You didn't get the point.
Yes. Download it before it becomes lost media.
So Adam Driver's character has super powers?
This movie could be an utter masterpiece and people will still follow their petty narratives. Not to mention the so-called 'critics' who believe people care enough to actually read their reviews. Anyone can get hired as journalist these days people!!!
I’m gonna see it because I’m gonna try to appreciate FFC’s vision, but unfortunately this movie is either gonna flop or flop hard.
One of the most bizarre trailers I’ve ever seen!
All the reviews in the beginning are fake or for other movies
Was Nolan busy?
Nathalie Emmanuel looks stunning in this trailer, WOW
Atlas Strugged and Fountainhead smashed together
The cinematic equivalent of the song Dewey Cox was writing when he was on acid
Jupiter Ascending plus Bonfire Of The Vanities
Which painting is the one in the trailer, at minute 01:52?
It is Eugene Verboeckhoven, hungry wolves attacking a party of riders
@@ALE198686 thanks you very much.
This is that trailer that the studio erased from internet right?
Who did the lighting? It looks terribly lit.
Fast forward to Coppola insisting it flopped because kids like anime and have terrible attention spans.

FINALLY AN ORIGINAL IDEA IN HOLLYWOOD.
Kinda lol it’s definitely a new imagining but a redo of a 1927 movie
It's just a Disney Plusified remake of Metropolis, what's so original about it?
GRACE VANDERWAAL 😭❤️❤️
well, someone is nailing himself to the cross and announcing himself as Messiah.
Finally
They can't all be winners.
Esta película se nota que va a ser la que más divida al público/críticos
So it’s ok to make up positive quotes to get people to see a movie but it’s not ok to do the opposite?
The thing is they're using real names of critics who are no longer with us for those fake quotes, that's the unethical part
@@animarious ohhhhhh yeah that’s messed up

Lionsgate lost so much money on Borderlands & they will do it with The Crow & then Megalopolis!
Already my expectations are very high
I'm wishing FFC would have directed the Bioshock movie.
Debe ser una obra maestra y la iré a ver al cine sin falta, y requerirá más allá de mi total atención, pues esti si es cine, es arte definitivamente...
