The one for series 1 makes sense didn’t know if the show would be popular,as so lower budget for the £0 Chas builder that should be the rule top offer £1,000 and I would of taken the quid because it would’ve been funny
I don't think it's so much that they didn't know if the show would be popular, as they didn't know how big of an advantage the Chaser getting that extra step removed is. Obviously as the series went on they realised very quickly that it was super hard to beat the Chaser with just a 2 step head start and they upped the offers as a result.
I’m fairly sure this was the episode where a target of 23 was set and they were caught with a second remaining. Imagine if Shaun had had a total brain freeze and couldn’t remember ‘Terracotta Warriors’. Taking the minus 9 would’ve then made all the difference and been the reason why they won.
Spot on. I also can’t believe the fact that some of them even told the contestant to go for those ridiculously low top offers! I’m glad the viewpoints have changed - you know something’s not right when someone says £1 from £1,000 is “not even worth trying” while in the same breath advising to take one step up for hardly any difference (5:45).

*would have, not would of
0:49 Steve wanted to kill him 😂
I certainly would have if I were in that position
i would too
It’s not about the amount of money in the prize fund, it’s about the number of players in the final.
Think I would have. Who in their right mind gets offered minus 9000 quid and goes "yeah sure". Blokes a tw@.

1:23 FOUR HUNDRED POUNDS?!
1st one 42k between three if he gets back. Dunno why that guy is so angry? I feel like they play the game a lot smarter nowadays

I didn't know Series 1 required 6 right answers for the middle offer
In that same series, it required 7 correct answers for the high offer.
0:06 MINUS 9 GRAND??!!
You've lost a lot of money
My high offer would have been just 1p
I think the chasers have the right to offer low high offers when the contestants get very low scores
0:05
0:07
5:08
5:20
Those offers were SHAMEFUL
That last high offer was horrible. Only £1,000 for a high offer.
Except the 6,000 offer. That was in Season 1. So I understand a small high offer like that.
5:08 ONE QUID!?
5:20 FIVE GRAND?!
Yeah, five grand!
@@XTrapolis942M For an opening high offer?!

Series 5 Episode 26, and yes, he got through to the final, but they lost with a second to spare!

0:06 MINUS 9 GRAND??!!
