    • @horstwessel756
      @horstwessel756 6 років тому +44

      rather lack of skill, his aim is horrible. Plenty of players that can shoot almost as hard but dont do it nearly as often because they realize you cant aim that well with a hard shot and it's a dick move because the risk of injury on opponents as well as your own team mates.

    • @coltukkor
      @coltukkor 6 років тому +19

      Its the object of the game.To put the puck in the net.How can it be a dick move?Obviously a slapshot or one timer is the fastest way of unloading giving the goalie less time to react.The players everyone of them knows what is expected of them before they lace up,and for the most part are well protected.(and compensated i might add)

    • @horstwessel756
      @horstwessel756 6 років тому +10

      A slap shot takes a lot of time, especially if you are going for maximum power like Weber. If you wanna beat the goalie on the post you do a fast wristshot like Laine for example. And yes they are compensated ofcourse but it's still unnessesary to go for these hard shots. There is a good reason the most skilled scorers dont do it and it's because it sucks. Sometimes it feels like Weber deliberatley go for power to injure anyone trying to block his shots. It's like if Big Buff went for the big hits all the time.. it's legal and should be expected but it's unnecessary to do all the time and somewhat counter productive considering he'll end up injuring himself or in Webers case his teammates. The point Im trying to make is that Weber uses his incredably hard shot very unresponsably.

    • @s1n0qu33
      @s1n0qu33 6 років тому +14

      Horst Wessel No he doesn't. Quit bitching. A slapshot has more velocity and is your best option for a onetimer, especially from the point. He has a killer snap shot as well and uses it alot down low on the off wing.

    • @kingwacky184
      @kingwacky184 6 років тому +62

    • @kingwacky184
      @kingwacky184 6 років тому +68

      Actually I have played hockey for over 15 years and trust me I do know more about hockey than you do. I have played for 15 years. Been a referee for 6 years and I have worked for 2 years with hockey material for my brothers team(not anymore) and while you are correct it is good to shoot low for rebounds and redirects for example but what I answered was why he shoot so high and not along the ice and that answer is because there is much more net to shoot at up high than down low. So say whatever you want but most of the times it is actually better to shoot high than low because redirects for example dont happen as often as you think. The puck do go straight in more often than it get redirected in.

    I always wondered why the helmets aren't covered by the ear. Anyone know? Ear and lighter neck covers would seem in order(?).

    • @erikhalvorseth3950
      @erikhalvorseth3950 6 років тому

      The problem is your hearing. Several producers have made helmets covering ear in such a way that they are adecvately protected. But in a fast game like hockey you need both your vision and your hearing to orientate yourself in a narrow 3d environment with so much intel to respond to during an extremely short amount of time.

    • @wazzobazzo
      @wazzobazzo 6 років тому

      Cool ty for the clarification. Still though no grid by the teeth, no neck covers and maybe at least some padding around the ears(could still leave an opening smaller than a puck?).
      I'm mostly seeing the exposed necks. Block a shot and risk dying? Goalies have had their throats slit before. Neck covers are mandatory here in Sweden due to a death a while back:

    I believe he also hurt Pacioretty in practice once. It wasn't anything serious tho and he played in the game that night. There's a vid of it over on sportsnet's channel.

    Seeing what Webber’s slapshot does makes me glad that ovechkin rarely hits anybody. Some guys are literally weapons on the ice.

    Not like a 100mph fastball... pucks are way harder and have corners, and go just as fast if not faster

    I was kinda surprised how getting hit by a puck is putting these guys in gear down. Then I looked up that pucks can go around 105mph and weight about 6oz. So in terms I can relate to, it's heavier and goes faster than a baseball. Wow, that must hurt!
