Lonnie you were a life saver. I had to change my blades and so I had to detach my mowing deck from the tractor. I followed the manual to a tee. But when I went to put it back together..... the manual does not say how to reconnect the PTO cable. And for the life of me, I could not remember which hole it went in. Cub Cadet's ' How To video' does not even talk about it. So I I searched high and low on UA-cam. From what I can see, you have the only video I could find that shows where the PTO cable connects to the mowing deck. Thank you for your detailed description.

I don't know how I came upon this vid, but I think it's EXACTLY what my issue is!! Very thorough!!! Thank you!!! I hope this solves my problem. Just bought from a private seller. Deck belt was loose. I've noticed with the deck up, the blades move. But when it's down, they don't. I followed that cable like you showed in your vid, (before I saw the vid), and suspected this. Thank you for posting!! Fingers crossed!! Previous owner won't respond to me.

First comment ever on a video. I just wanted to say, thank you for such a great video. I am the most mechanically deficient person you would want to know and thanks to your video, I was able to fix this issue by myself. Your pacing, explanation, and camera work made it so easy for me to follow. Instead of being out of commission for a week and spending over a hundred dollars to have a mechanic fix it, I was able to fix it myself for the price of the parts. I wish you the best and hope you are doing well. Thank you.

Great!! It helps me to save a lot of time and effort!
I am adding some of my experience from my yesterday's repair work:
I had a problem to finish the work with too hard to cable end to the hole on lever last night, while replacing my broken cable, but finally I've done.
    Follow the sequence as below:
    1. Place the new cable along old cable.
    2. Hook Spring into the hole on deck end.
    3. Fix the deck end socket into bracket by pin.
    4. Hook the other end of cable into the hole on PTO lever.
    5. Pull hardly the lever side socket away from the lever until reaching cable part to the bracket hole.
    6. Push the socket into hole on lever side bracket. Done!
Hope to figure out how I did.(English is my second language)

The bow-tie clip at the 1:24 mark is what I've been looking for all day. I could not figure out how it was supposed to attach. Who knew it would use just one hole, on one side instead of the groove on the other side too. Seems like an incomplete design, but if it works it works.

Hi there. This was really helpful as I have never worked on our mower. My boyfriend usually does it but he is away for work for a month.
I have a problem though. My cable seems like it is about an inch too short. I installed the top part. It is not engaged, the handle is all the way up. I put the hook in the hole on the deck, but when I went to place the little black plastic part with the pin, it won't reach. Any ideas? Thank you!

    • @LonnieJohnson1

Double check where you put it in the deck hole and then pull on the plastic hard to stretch it pass the hole and drop it in. It is tough to pull.

Why did you disconnect the battery for was it just for easy access or is there any danger if I don't disconnect my battery? On my lawn mower it's looks pretty accessible you attach those two at two places and run it down through the the lawn mower and keep it under the belt I'm going by the g u i d e of my old PTO cable disconnecting the top half looks like the hardest problem I just didn't know if having the battery intact could cause me to get shocked because I'm just disconnecting to at two points and plugging them up would that cause any kind of electric shock or did you just take the battery out for easy access
