  • 🌲Showing my minimalist wardrobe for Siberian winters. 24 items including outerwear and shoes and excluding innerwear.
It’s not perfect, nothing near extreme minimalism, but it’s full of colors and different textures. You will see several items from fast fashion which I’ve been having for several years so far. When it comes to basics such as cotton turtle necks and longsleeves (my winter staples), I opt for fast fashion. And with dresses, pants, accessories, I prefer handmade, artisan items or produced by small manufacturers.
❗️Disclaimer: in the end of the video, I talk about harassment and I was just trying to make a point that when we neglect our own style, philosophy, and safety intuition, we become more vulnerable to potentially hurtful situations.
Thank you for watching, my friends!

As an American that does not follow the perceived “American minimalism”, I’m finding so much joy in your ideas, commenters in your community and channel. I’m so happy your channel is deservedly not only gaining followers, but an exchange of experiences and thoughts from interesting humans all over the planet.

Hi Ana, our wardrobes are quite similar and perhaps that’s because I live in Canada at the 53rd parallel. I also wear cords, flannel, cotton, wool and linen, and I wear my clothes in layers, depending on the weather. I suspect those who define feminine as wearing high heals, short dresses etc. don’t live in a cold climate. 🤣 Although I probably could purchase all my clothes from higher end stores, I prefer to buy second hand as I feel it’s better for the environment, plus I’m almost always guaranteed to pick up an original. I do invest in a good winter coat and boots. I like your style, and the way you pair your clothing. Knitting is a skill I wish that I had. I enjoyed your video, thank you for taking the time to create it.

The navy blue dress of linen is very very nice. I like it a lot. Here in the North West of England it is windy, rainy, snowy, sleety and damp. It is beautiful in the Spring and can become hot in the Summer. As I type the wind is howling and the hailstone bashing against the window. I have many scarves, gloves and hats and boots. So on a 'normal' day if I leave the house my layers are; sports bra, seamless knickers, leggings, socks, thermal vest, cotton jeans, wool crew neck jumper, downfeather filled gilet, padded jacket, scarf, gloves and hat. And I can still get wet through with rain!!! I like your clothing. Very nice colours.

I am in my middle 60s and consciously embraced being nonbinary just two years ago. I mostly dress as I have always done in blue jeans, tee shirts, and sweaters. I kept my dresses, though, when I decluttered recently. I still like them. My thought is that we all get to decide how we want to dress, no matter how we identify in terms of gender.

Dressing in a way that caters to your own security and comfort - YES. I've always had a streetwear type of style and now that I'm 33 and mum of 2 I've started wondering if I need to start dressing more maturely even though my casual style suits my lifestyle. It's wild how pervasive the ideas are, of what we "should" look like.

I also buy from "fast fashion", once in a while. But as you, I make them last. Simple Zara camisoles, if well chosen and taken care of, last years: the problem is when people look at things as easily discardable. My mum knits my beanies, berets, and boot tops, even made me beautiful crochet bags. And, as you say, Lisbon has pretty good second hand shops. I bought recently two winter blazers for 5€ each. (Fortunately our winters are softer, even if this winter started quite cold - for Portugal)

Being a huge fan of some of Marie Kondos ideas, I honoured and thanked them but still had to let them go.
That being said, my instand thought to that red dot dress was that it's so lovely and suits you perfectly. Like that one lady said maybe you can make new memories in it. And if not, maybe you let it go and someone else can make new memories in it.

Ana, I love your videos and your unique minimalist style. I can definitely relate with being told I am not feminine enough. I actually felt that femininity was a very negative thing throughout my 20s as I grew up witnessing my mom being sexually abused and experienced assault / harrassment myself at work, so I tried to be as un-feminine as possible. Now in my mid 30s I have changed my mind, I no longer see femininity as a negative thing, and I have embraced some feminine aspects of my style and express them in a positive way that reflects who I am as a person. Thank you for your videos, please keep expressing yourself, I enjoy hearing you talk about your life in Siberia very much! From Canada. 🥰

I would like very much to be your neighbor and go for coffee and walks. I hope this message comes well to you. Your essential winter items are lovely and good quality! You style them well. Your knitting skills are very nice. I find merino wool items at our thrift stores maybe one per year and I switch mine out occasionally. The 3 I wear often have small holes but they are so warm and I do not overheat. I have a down jacket that is very warm especially with my layers. I don’t like to keep many items that are only seasonal wear but only the essentials for our 3 months of cold. It rarely gets under 20F here but a few days of 10 degrees and many days in the 30s. I like your puffer coat! Is it down ? Or do you prefer synthetic fill ? I have a synthetic fill light jacket that is nice but prefer my down coat with a hood.
Ok sorry such a long message. Wish you were closer to visit. I look forward to your videos. They are very relaxing and calm. 🤗😍

At times I had to make myself wear certain things in my wardrobe, it's never a good forcing yourself to wear something! Looks like everything you own is truly comfortable for you :) On another note, when you talked about non-stereotypical femininity, I instantly thought of Tilda Swinton!! She is everything but typically feminine. She embraces and emphasises the natural lines and angles of her body instead of hiding them or 'trying to balance them out' to look like an hourglass. I have parts of me and days when I feel and want to show more femininity and many days and aspects to me which are very masculine. So, I alternate between the two whenever I feel like it, but not without hesitance. Ana, thanks for your video. My wardrobe is simple. I only buy natural fiber clothes, mostly bought secondhand. I find it difficult to find 100% cotton jeans and tops. Most clothing is made of stretchy fabrics. In my 60’s, no makeup, no fashion clothes, I’m simple and comfortable in my own skin. Keep up the great work and place yourself first.

I think feminine is more about being a tender and gentle person rather than wearing dresses. I've seen a lot of women wearing dresses a lot of makeup and high heels but being absolutely ruthless and selfish. For me the personality matters more then the appearance. By the way I love wearing jeans, T-shirts, hoodies and sneakers😅!

Your corduroy pants are darling and I love how you altered them. I want to add some cord or wool pants to my wardrobe as they are significantly warmer than jeans but I struggle to find the size and shape that suits. Seems i need to dust off the sewing machine. Cheers Ana!

I love your clothes; very similar to my style. Sometimes clothes trigger a bad vibe and it's good to donate to someone who could benefit from having it. I also love you hair; it's short but very feminine. I have never been comfortable in heels. At one point, when I was in my 40s, I purchase an expensive pair of comfortable faux suede flat lace up shoes. One of the men at work said I looks like Peter Pan. I responded that Peter Pan didn't have blisters or fall and hurt his ankle. He had no comment. Frustrating. Thank you for the great video.

Love the wardrobe! In my eyes, the style is perfect. And, just what is “feminine fashion “? I believe that we have reached the point where fashion should be defined by what makes us happy, comfortable, comforting, and warm (in winter). I love the sweater you knitted, and wish I could do that as well. To me, at my age (72), the most significant sign of “feminine” is honesty to oneself. I didn’t learn this until recently . . . That contentment, slow and gentle living are worth much more to me than the opinion of others. I admire (and learn from) you each time I watch your channel. Stay true to the magnificent woman that you are. Please. Personally, I like “as is” people. There are rarely unpleasant surprises. Just know that I love and admire you “as is.”

I live in the northwest of the U.S. (in the state of Oregon). Our weather channel is telling us that we can expect lots of snow this next week with temperatures as low as 12 degrees. Unbelievably cold for us! My husband recently died and took with him the project of preparing our indoor and outside pipes. I am trying to find direction for that task from the internet. I just loved seeing your winter wardrobe! I get so cold nowdays - I too layer my clothing even though its not technically that cold here in South Texas USA. As I get older I am becoming more and more authentic in what I like and wear ... I can still remember my discomfort in the past when met with criticism regarding my love for sturdy, practical pieces that often were not made for women... all my favorite things came straight from my husband's closet! In recent years the outdoorsy, sporty/camoflauge look is far more common and acceptable ... especially in Texas. So I guess I was ahead of my time lol. Seeing your clothing reminds me how much I loved corduroy pants growing up in Vermont!!! 💜

I loved the blue dress over the oker turtleneck. How you sat there it reminded me of a painting by Johannes Vermeer! The mittens (love this word in Englisch) too, so nice. My favorite clothes are oversized knitwear and jeans. Not that I need to look bigger at the moment 😅. I don't dress feminin either. I never really got a comment about it. Sometimes the remark that I schould wear a dress more but just as a nice suggestion. What I did noticed is that while going out with feminine dressing girlfriends, men just cast a quick glance at me and than keep talking and flirting with my friends, as if I am some creature coming from underneath a stone...

I love your capsule wardrobe and think it fits you beautifully. It is so important that we stick to what feels good and right for us. By the way, there is an interesting style theory that takes into account how much yin or yang is expressed in our body. For the more Yang types, loose unstructured clothing is the perfect fit.
What to say about femininity? Maybe we should talk more about authenticity instead.

    • @anagoldberg

As for femininity, you are a beautiful young woman with very delicate facial structure/bones. Not everyone likes heavy makeup and you are beautiful without it. I found this very interesting and insightful. My style is very different, the important thing is that we all evolve to be ourselves. Comfort is important to me, too, and the climate I live in partly dictates that, as well as the life I lead. I‘m sure it‘s the same for you.
As a knitter, I love sheep wool. The warmest is „rustic“ wool that hasn‘t been superwash treated, it traps air better and that keeps you warmer (many wools from Scandinavia and the UK are rustic). Superwash is a plastic coating so not good for people or the environment - but it‘s what prevents felting, so a lot of people like that they can put it in the washing machine. Cotton knits aren‘t very warm in comparison and if wool gets wet it will still keep you warm, which other fibres don‘t. Definitely make yourself some fun legwarmers!! Or some long socks… 😉

    • @anagoldberg
      @anagoldberg  2 роки тому +1

Wow, I didn't know that superwash treatment is plastic-coating... And i had no idea that wool keeps you warm even if wet! You're such a knowledgeable knitter, I can tell 😍 Thank you!
