- I finally got around to installing my DHM high compression piston... this was a learning experience for me. Who else has a high compression piston?
I have the high compression kit only I haven’t installed it yet. Trying to get the rest of the stuff I want to put inside the motor while I have it apart. I have the same yellow grom but I put the yellow Camo decals on it
Also keep up the videos. Want to see what you have in store for your grom
I've seen other videos of people blowing their motor because they didn't have an oil cooler

Top of old piston looks completely normal and natural. That’s what happens when thousands of explosions happen next to it on each ride. 👍
I figured so… first time I have ever removed a piston on a small bore bike!
Just a heads up last year was my first year in Tennessee and it rained a lot. I have the same intake as you and I would recommend getting the k and n rain guard/protector. Rained so hard it started to bog down
Good advice!
You should use a compression ratio measuring tool... example a burette tube, too high compression ratio may be damage your engine
so i have a grom. it died a bit ago. one day i was riding it to lake at a random light its lost almost all power and could only putter. and it was puffing white smoke. its been at least a year. i didnt really have money to take it to shop then and i had to move and all this crap but someone at my new job said it sounds like the head gasket.. i havent worked on a engine in a long time but could it be that simple? i was thinking maybe the rings. i rode it daily for 4 years and put like 28k or so miles on it before it happened. what do you think you seem to know more about motors. the bad thing i live in the middle of nowhere in kentucky now. when before i would just take it to my friends dirtbike shop in california for random work. but i dont even see any types of shops like that here in ky. especially anywhere close to where i live lol. i would love to slap a 250 or 300 in it but then it just gets more expensive. i just want it running again really. for now. any ideas. thanks man. later
I would copy this comment and throw is on a grom FB page and have them tell you what they think it is. Sounds like something minor…

@@TTorres1183 Very cool. I thought the 22-23 models could not be bored, due to changes in the stud placement (?). What other mods have you made to keep the motor "safe" - oil cooler/reflash/cam chain wheel... Hard for a Newbie to sort this stuff out! Thanks

What was the compression after the fit?
How did you get the rings compressed back in the barrel. I’ve got to strip down my quad and wondered if I’m going to need a piston ring compressor

So I wanted to know if you have ran into that engine issue everyone is having if so how did you fix it I’m interested in buying the 22 but scared of that

I own a 22 have had no problems with it what do ever it has now got 420kms on it I personally know someone who owns a 22 grom aswell and they have about 500kms and they haven’t had any issues

@@barryallen5507 definitely need a tune I use aracer so I leave it n auto tune so far bikes running great only issues I’ve had so far is cold starts gotta give it litte extra gas but once it warms up she’s a beast lol 😆

Nope
New rings, cylinder gets honed. It's a given. How are the rings going to break-in? Your leaving compression and power on the table.
