I recently witnessed an old guy yelling at some poor guy on a ladder installing a building sign accusing him of stolen valor because he had old BDU pants on. The sign guy yelled down at him, “My brother was in the Guards and gave me these for work! They’re comfortable! Now leave me the F*** alone!”
I started getting into military surplus uniforms after I started collecting military surplus rifles. I always wondered if some idiot would conflate wearing a vintage military uniform as stolen Valor. To me, it's only stolen Valor if you're wearing rankings you didn't earn and telling people you served when you didn't. Really, people just need to mind their own business. I'm 30 years old wearing a 40 year old uniform. Do the math lol.
People calling other people Stolen Valor for just wearing camouflage is stupid it's different though if you're saying you are in the military or were and you weren't
The woodlands pattern really works! Last month I took a woodlands pattern jacket camping. while in the woods I got a little warm so i took my jacket off and laid it down and i was never able to find it again!
Oh dang, absolutely. That is top-level camouflage! I lost a woodland camo hat the same way, but, I went back and found it in the winter. Still wearing it today.
I was active duty in the Marines and was issued the M81 woodland pattern uniform (what you have). From 1980-1986 the ERDL brown dominant was used, then it switched to the large collar M81 as what you have. Of course that was the Marines. For civvies, those would be fine….for a uniform, those fail. I still have my “salty” 7 sets of M81, 6-color desert, 3 color desert, woodland digital, desert digital. Yeah, I retired in 2015. A lot of cammie changes.
This was my BDU when I was active duty (USMC 1985-91). In that stretch, the blouse went through a minor design change with the blousing straps on the side and later switching from the heavy cotton fabric to the poplin(sp?) material. The woodland pattern remained throughout though. Marine Corps didn't start using the name tape until after Desert Storm. I still have a set with and without the name tape.
Do you have any woodland boonies, with the 3 inch brim, twill weave, typically with a white label? Also how can I order an “Elvis collar” bdu jacket and same era pants? I have looked everywhere for the pre 1984 gear!!
@@patrickharvey158 I think nowadays, MOST people do A LOT of their shopping on-line because it's easier and faster for them, except for grocery shopping, i know MOST people would rather get their groceries in person (like ME) because that way, NONE of the employees will end up breaking my eggs 🥚🥚 or squashing my bread 🍞 if that employee Doesn't know how to bag the groceries correctly. Hi Angela. Short, Regular and Long Lengths are for Short to Tall folks. Here are the recommendations based on height: SHORT Lengths - Height: 5'3 to 5'7 REGULAR Lengths - Height: 5'7 to 5'11 LONG Lengths - Height: 5'11 to 6'3 Hope this helps!
The Propper BDUs are pretty good though. I have several pairs of Propper BDU pants, and even though they may fade in color, they usually hold up pretty well.

I love military surplus, the woodland is nice but the old school od green jungle fatigues are my favorite.
I've never seen the OD green style in-person. I wore the woodlands when I joined in early 90s.
My dad has a ton of these army and Air Force variants since he switched to the af after his first enlistment was up
Here in the uk, it’s completely normal to wear surplus army clothes. I regularly wear a DPM smock or combat trousers. No stolen valour thing over here
I like the USGI with the large Elvis collar.
Do these come unbuttoned or buttoned straight from the box? Curious to know how these were stored and issued.

Sorry, no. The 80s woodland jackets are the only items we were able to obtain.
I like the black trouser bdu version of these uniforms. More useful because i can wear them to work because our trousers are black.
They look so dam good👍🏾😊
Your partner looks like he’s wearing the old French camo, I think theirs have a little more tan in it, and it’s a little darker green.
We have French Camo field jackets here in the warehouse and confirm the similarities. You are on point with the comparison, for sure. Cheers!
Where is clothing stored before issued to troops or before it's sold off?
Sorry, We have no idea. The jackets we received were stored in a warehouse of another vendor in another state.
Are you guys still open I've tried your store in Pekin several times but you have always been closed
Sorry Patrick, the Outlet Store in Pekin is permanently closed.
A shame to hear I'll look for you guys online

Are these the ones with the adjustment tabs on the sides at the waist?
Hi Stan, no. These do not have the adjustment tabs.

Are there still origional army jackets available? Would be glad to have an answer, thanks.
Now let's say mine got ripped a little, how would one go about fixing the rip?
A dry cleaners and if you are near a military base most all cleaners should be able to fix it.
Good video, do those colors on camouflage have a meaning or helping?
1983 year, it looks like it made yesterday
Yeah, these are in amazing condition.
Esses uniformes sao pra vender ?
I made the mistake of buying one of these in large. I don't know who they were fitted to but he must have weighed 400 pounds minimum.
Awesome! Got any Night Desert? 😃

That's not a jacket. That's the BDU shirt. Was hoping it was the M65 BDU field jacket which I'm looking for. False advertising
