When we were kids my dad used to buy all our clothes at Army and Navy surplus stores .
I got really pissed off going to school everyday dressed like a Japanese admiral .
LOL
Could have been worse, might have been a surplus Kamikaze pilot overalls !
Hahaha!!!! Oh daaaam. Snap!! Hahahaha. I know that feeling. I was dressed like Pancho Villa. I had plastic rounds, someones old hat. Yup, I had some shoes but my dad made me shoe polish them when they were dirty. Hahahahaha!! I read your comment....started lol I fell off my chair. Sh it it brought back a f memory. My sis was dressed👗 a lil bit more like a air force instructor. Shoes and hair dew.
@@ontherunplmr1218 .........only available in 1 colour :)
dungspreader lol
Wow !
Didn’t think these shops still existed and this one is a monster.
Their prices look very reasonable and the garments appear to be in excellent condition.
This is a place I need to visit!
Just googled it. Permamently closed. Would have loved to have visited this too!
@@jonfisher9214 what about ranger in surbiton
It would've been nice to visit there during my trip to Oxford next month... :(
I always loved an army surplus shop and over the years i must have spent a fortune, but the clobber was always great quality, that lasted ages. For twenty years i ran a small gardening/landscaping business and the army gear was the best.
I used to spend a fortune on hiking and camping gear until I started buying army surplus.
Hi Paul! The green jacket with the silver stripe down the sleeve is German police. They look so cool riding their motorcycles (white back in the 80's) in a motorcade. I was at Bitburg AB when President Reagan visited us with the German Chancellor. I wish I knew about this store when I was stationed at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk. I love your country and its people. Great video!
Every small town used to have an army surplus shop, ours did, and I remember buying a USA pack, which were rejects for 50 p, this was back in the mid 70,s, I used it through school, and then a fishing bag/ work bag. I’m sure I’ve got it in the attic !
I’ve bought numerous bags in shops, Internet etc , lucky to last 12 months wear. So I’m back to army surplus, and have a french F2 backpack , and a Czech bread bag, altogether costing less than an ordinary shop bought bag!
Great store, I wish we had something like that over here in Sweden. Fun to hear you discussing the Swedish stoves. All the surplus stores closed down, there's only one left. They're great, but the actual store is tiny and mostly online.
Same here in the UK. Most towns had a store, not many left now.
This store is one of THE best military surplus stores I have seen and I, being retired military, have shopped in them around the world. Amazing store! I loved the woodland camo backpack you handled that was 50 quid. That would make a great bushcraft pack with some minor conversions or additions, eg an axe sleeve.
Thank you for your service
Wow, my eyes is glowing to see all stuff! Nice shop.
The extra details on Dave's choice of undergarments was highly amusing!
I'm sure Dave would look absolutely smashing in those shorts and that shirt
Been buying stuff from them for the last few years on ebay, I've never seen anywhere else cheaper for a load of their stock. Yeah a lot is used surplus but I've had countless bits of unissued gear from them too.
Yes Ebay is a good place to find their stuff. I have bought gas cartridges from them on Ebay, cheapest on the net they were.
When I was in the UK I got to go to a surplus store
Just wished I had more time to visit them.
Hadn't heard of this place. Will be visiting.
Thanks for the post
Darlington Street Wigan was good in Late 50's early 60's. I used to buy RAF side hats for 6p each and sell them at school in Culcheth for half a crown. = 2/6p.
Para smocks, marine white helmets, web belts with holsters for our Air pistols. Best of all Air force sheep skin and leather bomber command flying jackets when we were old enough for motorbikes.
Oh and those USA navy "reefers" jackets I think they were less than £5.
I am 63 and remember the good old Army and Navy stores, you’d get some real bargains.
Thanks for letting me visit this interesting place. Without your camera I wouldn't have a chance!
What a fantastic shop, will definitely be paying a visit, probably spend the whole day there, heaven.
nice store or shop nicely displayed gear. thanks
Would love to see you doing more surplus store videos around the country.
Northern Michigan here. Love looking at the cooking things. Pretty cool!
That is amazing. Probably the best stocked army surplus store I have ever seen.
I had a good friend who got sick and had to go into a nursing home. It was really sad. He gave me his stainless Swedish mess kit with the burner & windscreen. I had no clue as to what an alcohol stove was so I turned to UA-cam & found Hiram Cook. The rest is history. Probably one of the best cook sets made.
Very very rare now. I have the aluminum set. I will use it soon in a video 👍 Hiram did so many tests 😎
Nice thanks for sharing
Man I wish our military surplus stores here in USA had all that stuff in good shape.
I now live in Sweden and have no real Military surplus shops where I live. I loved the army and navy in Chapel Market in Islington. I used to go to school dressed like a WWII general or Tommy Atkins 😂
The good old days ;)
Nice reminiscing 👌
Damn I miss this store. My legs are robed in a pair of their Soldier 95's right now, as I watch this. My little bro, 6'6", still has my old snugpak self inflating matt I bought there years ago.
Awsome store!
I LOVE these shops. Wish I had money for a shopping spree. Loved Oxford, love the window shopping. A great little postcard shop there, a great china tea cups place. Never got to go to my step bro's old house (a centuries old pig farm) in Horton cum Studley. He was stationed at Hayford, I think it was near Upper, Lower and Neither Hayford.
When he was there my step step nice got to meet the Queen. It was her Silver Jubilee and she stopped at the Nursery where she was. The Queen gave the kids commemorative coins. My niece was like 4 and doesn't really remember it, but still has the coin.
Just started a dog walking business. Looks the place for some winter gear.
wow what a great shop, love the shop vids 👍
Cheers Owen
Thats a treasure trove of goodies, Good amount of Flecktarn Trousers aswell, Just found the ebay so Im on the hunt for some good stuff. Cheers Paul
Get some new clobber for the new year ;)
Amazing place!! :)
Man,this place has the British Helmets.I wanted to see more of the Boots worn by the British soldiers.
hello
In the United States we have Tractor Supply store...a place that specializes in stuff used for ranchers and farmers...lots of stuff that you can use for camping. Might be a thing to see if there's an equivalent type store on your side of the pond.
😜
Looks like a great store and will pop in to see for myself. What you should have done is grabbed on of the shop staff to take you aroundnthey could then describe to you what they have.
In the fifties and sixties US combat jackets for work… genuine Erwin flying jackets to keep warm in the winter and Parker’s….(modes). were very common buys, also gun barrel cases, sheath knives etc, a treasure trove of some really good gear.
Looks wicked. Have to swing by sometime.
I heard they were closing but don't know when
I bought a few things from there, great shop. I'll be buying more stuff from there soon. Oh watch out for the toll bridge near there though lol.
I laughed so hard when i found the toll bridge :)
I didn't have any cash either lol.
A lot bigger than the nearest surplus store to me will have to check it out this ks for sharing mate! 👍
Take care
Roo
Live 10 minutes from that shop and it’s good if you want Camo but bad if your looking for plate carriers helmets gasmasks and useful kit.
Shame it's closed down now
Me encanta todo lo referente a uniformes militares. En especial los del ejército británico, estadounidense, ....
Nice look at an army disposal store in UK.

Good video.
Superb Paul. Next time I am passing through Oxford I will call in for a mooch. Thank you for sharing. Paul :)
Well worth a look around if you get a spare 3 hours LOL.
Well worth a look around if you get a spare 3 hours LOL.
Paul Bisseker Bushcraft haha...these things take time :)
It's in Eyeham btw
first thing you pull from the racks is Snugpak :) love their equipment
I’m sure this place used to be in the middle of Oxford, my Dad’s from there and when we were kids we used to spend hours in there.
I would be in heaven in that store😊Thanks for sharing Paul👍
I didn't see the video I got fed up with the adverts before the video even started.
They are closing down! Go now whilst you can!!
These old thin British army bodywarmers are good: l got 8 of them at a fiver each from a surplus store 20 years ago. I have had one shortened, and l wear it under an oversized denim jacket. The full lengh ones are ideal for wearing under coats, kagools, and jackets for extra warmth, both civi, and military items. The problem today is: they make coats in shops so tight fitting around the arms......that you cannot layer up with a bodywarmer, wheras surplus clothing has plenty of room for layering. I tend to wear stuff out of surplus stores, and vintage stores to. Jeans in particular, are crap compared to the one,s l remember in the 60s and 70s. I find the Austrian M65s tend to be very robust, wheras some of the US M65s tend to be raggy, and the press studs on them are normally broke. Wheras the presstuds on the German items are really robust. Also a lot of it is replica, made in China.
Wow, how much have the Swedish mess kits gone up in price in just 5 years😮
thats my nephew serving
Nice Video..the Police Uniforms are German by the Way, from Nordrein Westfalen and Bundesgrenzschutz wich is now Bundespolizei
Cool ;)
Nice one Paul, I love a surplus shop, I could of watched another 30 mins... you missed loads of stuff :-( can you go back and film that white arctic coat on the first wall LOL. It was very enjoyable mate. Cheers, Lee
It's a great shop Lee ;)
Buffalo jacket is awesome good video 👍
Cheers bushcraft survivalist
Good prices on those gtx jackets. Water resistant clothing prices have gotten ridiculous outside of the surplus market. Even here in the US our ecwcs gtx jackets are over $100 used and you can really only find them on ebay unless you actually live by a decent surplus store, which I do not. Most surplus stores just carry junk. 20 years ago when my grandpa was still alive (vietnam veteran) he used to take me to a surplus store in the ghetto of South Dallas that was kind of cool but it's probably out of business now or just selling work boots and old mess kits like all the defunct army navy stores around here are now
incredible how the You Tube "app" decided to put this on my home page
WS was a vital place for "stuff" when I lived up there in the 1980's when it was actually "in" Oxford, not "out of town" as it is now
sadly some 40 years later army "surplus" stores no longer sell quality army "surplus", instead they mostly sell new made in the far east knock offs. As this video shows, WS is no different.
Haha you should buy a crap ton of those jerry cans.
Maybe in the future when the military switches to new gears and uniform, we’ll be able to get new old stuff from the military
We do lol. All the British MTP kit is still issued gear and you can buy it all.
The Green Police coat is a Older german version
Hi just come across your video and was wondering if there's any major warehouses in the UK that sells mainly for the US stuff alpha Industries etc
Paul, I write this without criticism and with one love. Stop trying to put down your mate . Have a look at yourself and be kind. Life is then better for everyone.
I would subscribe but you have exactly 7.62 subs and I don't want to ruin it.
Fpmsl at daves vest n shorts lol a tel ya what ad go in there with a grand n come out in debt hahahaha wish we had stores that big with xxl sizes up here .what a great n different video a enjoyed that atb pal
LOL Dave hasn't really got any of them vests and shorts. It's the best surplus shop near us.
Hey Paul, amazing prices at that supply shop. I'm from the US and I can't believe how cheap stuff is there. I sure wish we had that kind of selection here in the states. Keep up the great work love the Surplus videos I'm learning a lot thanks again buddy happy holidays
Van Life - Less Stuff, More Freedom If you know you size conversion you can try "Major Surplus and Survival". They sell euro gear at good prices. I'm a large fellow at 6'3" so I have trouble on length.
This place isn't that cheap dude. There are much cheaper shops
Smith tuff Gamer they're pretty damn cheap compared to any surplus here in the states. Incredible prices over there stuff here is triple that price
At least your ammunition is cheap
910th like! Thanks for the tour. Good stuff!
I keyed in on the 44 Pattern Webbing Pouches at about 12:16
Other than the Bear on top of the mannequins head. It looks the same as a store in the USA, Well we have guns is ours.
4:33 John Cleese???? Our "Surplus" store had lots of worn out clothing at top prices. Gone 15 years.
Great video and great channel. Subscribing!
Thanks
I'm wanting to get the price on the sleeping bag water proof back .Ah you never said.
There used to be an "army surplus" shop near me. Whilst perusing the stock I did wonder what kind of army orders trousers with a 38" waist.
That’s why they’re surplus. Or for raf
@@Cous1nJack it's nobody's surplus, but made-for-purpose camo leisure wear. I was being facetious.
@@tombartram7384 you’re surplus
Anyone remember Hugget's in Norwood Junction/ South Norwood? Everything from Radios to field rations.
What? Like 19 sets?? or clansman prc320 ?
@joe menguy I never knew what they were, just junk for us kids to play with.big tins of dried potatoes and tins of egg power. Pistol holsters ammo cans, gas mask holders...etc etc, wonderful stuff for kids.
@@ericlackford6718 Yes it was the same for us kids lol👍
I wish we still had some decent surplus stores in America but all the ones where I live just sell overpriced junk, fake mres, and mess kits
Only minutes in & I’m droooooling
Love that italian police jacket
Would love a DPM wet weather coat and pants.
Recommended.
Every surplus store globally seems to be decorated and Kaye’s out by the same exact person 😅
Is this place still in business in 2022? If so, I expect their gear is flying off the shelf for folks headed to fight or help out otherwise in Ukraine! Great video - thanks for the tour. I think Dave puts up with a lot of guff from you! Ha!
I believe the pandemic finished this store off for good as a going concern after it moved out of Central Oxford to the edge of the city due to high rent, then finally to this unit close to the village of Eynsham.
They posted a farewell on social media.
can u recommend where to buy a pair of military mukluks with liners. size 13?
How to order online and what is the website?
It's closed down. 🇬🇧👍

Is this shop still open? Couldn't find out if it was still open. Any help appreciated 👍
Long gone, sadly. No idea where the next nearest one will be ):
... You did not discuss, the West German,Tan and water(marsh), border guard jackets 😎!.
There's so much in there it's difficult to see and talk about it all. When i go there again i will do a more thorough job
@@PaulBissekerBushcraft No worries sir :) , Its a nice camo,i assume jackets too (I always was meant to obtain one!). Post war West German, much like the WW2 Wehrmacht tan and water/swamp camo :) .
Any idea where to get bigger sized clothing pal?
I use Ebay or Surplus. We got a new Decathlon store, they go up to 4XL
Paul Bisseker Bushcraft cheers pal. Looked a gd store tho
