Japanese woman want to marry for security (financial comfort) and children (you are the donor and you are expected to work hard to provide). It is NEVER about you, the person. One time, in a group class, I was making small talk with the students before the lesson started, and she mentioned that her husband would be home over the weekend. I said "Oh, you must be very happy, then." Her whole expression changed to one of pure disgust and she said "No! I don't like my husband." Such an awkward moment as a teacher, lol.

Then after seeing this video and had me in stitches. Mostly about the cheating and learning about the history of NTR. You said in your video that most Americans don't like Japanese humor. But I'm South American (partly). And I find Japanese humor very interesting. If it wasn't for my lack of Japanese language. five reasons why the Japanese don't make good friends:
1 they are too lazy to learn foreign languages and they laugh at our accents when we speak their language
2 they never tell us what mistakes we would make, even though it is the only solution to improve us in front of them
3 they judge which people deserve to hear their "honne" (true thoughts and feelings) and they lie most of the time
4 they insult us behind the back
5 and they are too serious, they only think to work6 they backstabb us and use us

@@unstoppableExodia Thank you sensei. I’ll be sure to have a dead marriage and view my wife and mother of my child with pure sexual disgust.
I’ll also be sure to plow a woman who will financially extort and blackmail me.
Thank you for the lesson :)

But as you’re living that crazy life you may have overwhelming moments where it seems like all you see is violence in movies and sex on tv. But you’ll find comfort when asking yourself where are those good old fashioned values on which we used to rely? And it is then that you’ll realize it’s fortunate you’re are a Japanese family guy, fortunate to be a man who positively can do all the things make us laugh and cry.

Meshida-san, it's not the cheating that matters, but the thrill you get from it while enjoying that counts.
Now the main reason why in other cultures men see their wives as partners and not family relatives is because women keep their maiden's (single) first surname when marrying to their husbands.
For example, in my home country of México, the married woman modifies her civil name, by virtue of the fact that she maintains her original first surname as her first surname and uses the husband's first surname as the second surname, without the insertion of the particle "de" (Spanish article).
It's common in Mexican culture for people to use two family names: the first surname belongs to our father's side of family while the second one belongs to the mother's family.
In turn, it gives to us Mexicans the "loophole" that we need to view each other spouses as partners and NOT as family members when enjoying the deed.
(Sorry, cannot put the word since UA-cam will automatically erase my comment).

It seems this is a big issue in Taiwan too. Almost all the couples I know have divorced over mistresses, but there, the kids go with father often.
