Sorry to hear about the loss of your 2 koi 😢
Cheers mate…sometimes these things happen…pond seems ok now 🙏🏻
I feel exactly the same way you do. If I had known then what I know now and all I’ve had to go through with koi getting sick, I would have never even started keeping koi. At times I feel so overwhelmed and at a loss as to what to do next. I’ve lost 12 koi already this season and will probably lose more. Just one problem after another. Was just about to start our new sleeper pond build but put a hold on it because I recently learned some koi I bought (I’m in the states) may have been infected with KHV. I’m going to have them tested. If it comes back positive, I’m done! I would have to euthanize my entire collection in both my ponds. Thousands of dollars worth of high quality koi. I’ll be totally gutted. I truly hope your koi get well soon. At least saving some of them may make it feel more worth it.
Fingers crossed you've come through it now mate, and things keep getting better 👍🏼
Cheers pal 🙏🏻
Sorry about the two you lost, hope the others improve, best wishes, Tony😀
Things looking ok at the mo..thanks mate 🙏🏻
Hi John. The Yami is from Suda. I did contact you before your holiday to see if you courier koi. I am very interested in the Gin Rin Showa with the heavy Sumi, how much is it please ? I am also after a Gin Rin Goshiki (I do like the one in the vid but prefer one with a bit more beni). Can you send me video of what koi you have and how much they are please ?😅
I’m pretty sure this isn’t meant for me 😂
@@bezzaskoichannel3856 Apologies
I think you should always keep your quarantine tank up and running so as the filter is seasoned and its ready for the next problem,
Yeah this is what I’m thinking, trouble is when I’m using topical treatments for sick fish, I’d be treating fish that aren’t sick 🤦
You could move the non sick fish into your pond, if they have been quarantined then
@@cabbie737 yeah I mean once they’re in the main pond, there will be no point keeping the QT running without fish as the good bacteria will die off surely?
Maybe just buy a couple of smaller fish to keep it going
I agree, after having introduced numerous problems to my pond via “new” fish from unscrupulous dealers who should know better, no Koi enter my pond without first being quarantined!
I’m always surprised by how many Koi keepers buy new fish, often at shows and just add them to their existing stock without any form of quarantine and then wonder why they have problems!
Having learned the hard way with huge losses while keeping Koi for 30 odd years I’d never now be without a quarantine facility!
Need to keep feeding so filter builds self up or us filter start gel and don't keep changs water ever day have little bit of bad suf kick start fill then one all fish tread buy some small fish us it as grown if down essex pop in got lot fish for sale in shop
Thanks mate…just been to the national and bought a few little tosai to keep filters alive! 🙏🏻
@@bezzaskoichannel3856 over thing we do in shop is add bit of microbelift superstars
Hopefully you don't have an other problem 👍🏻
Fingers crossed mate 🙏🏻
Keep a few goldfish or shubumpkins in there to keep it running n the filter mature. They will also keep any poorly koi company when u av to add one as they can get depressed on their own 👍🐟
Hi mate, yeah that’s what I was thinking however doesnt that mean that if I have to treat a sick koi, the fish that are in there will have to be treated also?
@@bezzaskoichannel3856 yes but they'll be cheap goldfish or shubumps n can handle koi medicines as they are cousins of the koi. Just 3 or 4 mininal maintenance 🐟👍
@@bezzaskoichannel3856 Your right, but Goldfish are very hardy and unlikely to be effected .
I generally run mine with salt at 0.30, monitor all new acquisitions for around 6-8 weeks and treat as necessary.
For koi with problems, it’s much easier and cost effective for treating as you can raise the temperature, salt and treat without effecting the main pond. Also makes catching and treating topically much easier and less stressful!
I honestly think the lack of access amateur fish keepers have to antibiotics is a scandal. Hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of fish are dying needlessly. If that was happening to dogs they’d overthrow the government. I don’t understand why fish keepers couldn’t attend a VET approved course that would allow you to vaccinate your fish. Your licence would have a 3 to 5 year expiry date to ensure you keep up with any industry changes. Obviously you’d have still have to get a vet to prescribe the antibiotics, which gives them additional income. The industry needs to have a campaign to get the veterinary industry and government to approve such a course imo. I’d keep a few gold fish in your quarantine tank, they are not a trouble and not a lot of cost if you lose a couple. Thanks for your updates.
Appreciate your comments mate and gotta say I completely agree with you, it’s just not right! On the up side, I think I’m on top of the problem but I’ll put an update on the next vlog…thanks for watching 🙏🏻
@@bezzaskoichannel3856 I’m going through the similar thing, lost 2 out of three fish I bought from a single dealer. The third is in big trouble but it’s fighting on, been going on since Feb, thing is none of my other koi are affected? Have you tried the Seneye Pond water monitor, it’s great to keep an eye on your ammonia, water level, temps, oxygen, Ph and it notifies you if they go out of the levels you set. It’s taken a lot of stress out of monitoring the health of the pond, for me at least. Good luck and thanks for the content.
can’t you just get some cheap gold fish they will be fine with getting treated when the koi are sick
Hi mate…I’ve just got back from the show, bought a few little tosai that should do the trick! 🙏🏻
@@bezzaskoichannel3856 nice how was I didn’t get to go this year because been in dubai for the last month
Sad about your 2 fish Bezz hope you get to the bottom of the issue, also sad about the G&S im new to the hobby but all i keep hearing is G&S people paying their money and never hearing anything i just dont see the point in them if its not doing what it should, someone needs to get a grip of it people just dont have the trust in G&S anymore its such a shame.
Yeah it was the first grow n show I’ve took part in and I believe I paid 90 quid for a 18cm fish! I think this was steep but was happy to pay it to be part of it! I won’t be buying another, it’s clearly just a spin to get you to buy fish 🙏🏻
