I’m praying the bottom drain works! Just been out to have a look and can’t see any mess at all so looking good! Yeah I hope someone has them, although they aren’t for me I hope they go to a nice pond 🙏🏻

Retro bottom drains are very good if can’t or don’t want proper bottom drain I had one on old pond and was amazed with it big difference 👌👍👍㊗️🏯㊗️

Alrate mate that fish looks like a doitsu shusui. Pond looks great by the way I used to have a retro drain on old pond but put a bottom drain in on new pond.
Yeah couple have said Doitsu shusui! The drain is doing the business however I’m having to run the pump faster than I’d like just so it collects all the muck 🙏🏻

There a game changer retro bottom drains are. My floor is spotless haven't hoovered it since i installed mine. Having your air on in the centre for half the day will help the retro drain draw in the muck from the floor. Enjoy 👍🐟

EA 70lph split 50/50 between drain and moving bed
Is it worth getting a pump for this to feed to my filter or trying to have it run gravity fed? I'd like to avoid any errors or accidents and prefer a pump running then relying on gravity
Hi mate, this is run on a pump, it’s the only way you can use it! I have a EA 10000 vary pump which is in the pond 🙏🏻
The instructions on the retro bottom drain show a vent pipe coming off the bend on top of the dome pipe work or a vent tee’d off the return pipe of both gravity or pump returned systems. Did you do this? Thanks in advance.
Hi, I purchased the low profile pipe kit! The 45 degree bend off the drain has a vent hole in the top of it! That’s in place yes 🙏🏻

Hi what flow of water are u using thru your drain .I was using a100 litre air pump split between a iarge air stone and the retro i found that the pump was sucking air up and bubbles coming into my filter maybe too powerfull
Hi mate, I have a 10k vary flow pump on but only running at 50% so roughly turning the pond over once an hour! My 70lph air pump is split between the moving bed and the retro drain and seems to work perfectly! I’m really pleased with it, can’t believe how well it works 🙏🏻
@@bezzaskoichannel3856 Have had my retro fitted about a week syponed bottom today not much muck there .Currently using 2 air stones not the air from the retro thinking of fitting another air stone then trying the air from the retro Less air no bubbles Was using a 60 and50 air pumps not a lot of bubbles Got a second hand 100 ltr what a differance pond now bubbling
Hi it’s me again I bought one of the kits from where u said and noticed the bottom of pipe is two and a quarter inches where did u get ur pipe reducer from as my pipe is one and half inch hope all makes sense thanks Steve
Hi mate…the reducer I’m sure was in the kit, have a play around with the fittings as I didn’t see it the first time and thought I had to go buy one!

Hi mate, you don’t necessarily need a separate pump but that depends if the pump you have is powerful enough to do both! I use the evolution aqua 70lph! I split this between my moving bed and the retro drain and it’s perfect to run both 🙏🏻

So should be fine and it has 2 inlets

Great video, really beginner friendly thanks. Retro bottom drain will be next on my list, do standard pumps work ok to run them? I've got a couple of spare oase aquamax in the shed.
I also love the filter house, I have a raised patio behind my pond and it's an angular shape, looks like you've made your own which is a great idea.

Try eco filtration, they do the low profile kit for the drain 🙏🏻

Hi mate, I don’t know the part number unfortunately but go have a look at eco filtration, it’s the aerated bottom drain but not the one that has an air pipe wrapped around it! Think it was around 140 quid 🙏🏻

I feed a mixture of kusuri premium and Saki hikari…but once the Kusuri has ran out I’ll switch to Saki altogether 🙏🏻
