    During his speech, when his voice cracks at the end, I tear up every single time. I can't even.... The day this man retires will truly be a sorrowful day.

    I wonder how many hours of interviews will he have to do tonight. If he were selfish, he'd say no. But he's the best ambassador for tennis, and he'd continue to work all night if it were good for the sport.

      Raily 971 good to see a nadal fan that shows some respect. I hope nadal comes back soon and fit for the claycourt season.
      I cant understand why fed, rafa and nole fans always bitching arround. Im one of the biggest fedfans but i respect nole and nadal because they mean a lot for tennis and are part of a great history and future.
      Im happy to life in the era of these 3 legends. And of course all the other great guys on the tour:)

    0:23 When he tapped Edberg's banner in appreciation was so cool to witness. Once his hero, then his coach and close friend!
    I think Roger felt that he needed to change his game style to a more aggressive and efficient one in order to be able to catch up with his fellow rivals that had stronger play from the baseline, back in 2013. Then he came up with recruiting Stefan Edberg as his head coach and a brave decision to change his long-played racquet with a new one with a bigger head-size.
    At the end of 2014 those correct decisions he and his team made started to pay off as he won Shanghai masters after cutting the 28-match won streak from Djokovic in the semis and won his very first Davis Cup with Wawrinka.
    His form continued in 2015 and he shifted up his aggressive playing style another level up with his enhanced volley technique and SABR and was the Wimbledon and US Open finalist losing both to Djokovic which I believe he could have won at least one of those encounters only if he could held his nerves better. He then announced that Edberg will no longer travel the tour with him and Ivan Ljubicic will be replaced with him; the decision that many thought was absolutely wrong, but guess what? those "many" were wrong!
    In 2016 he hurt his knee in Australian Open semis and were playing the first half of the tour with pain, and negative comments started to rise again like "Roger should retire before it's too late" or "he is too old to win any important tournament anymore" or "Ivan Ljubicic can't help Roger to be successful"! But Roger denied those negative vibes and made some damn correct decisions again! Like going into surgery after re-injuring his hurt knee at the Wimbledon semis and resting the rest of the season, and in fact he kept his contract with Ivan who then thought wouldn't make a good coach to Roger.
    2017's astonishing results and this 20th major title are just other Roger's rewards for his accurate decisios and determination! This man's career is just an amazing school and can be an inspiration for everyone! I'm so lucky to be able to witness it, enjoy every moment while this great man plays because there will never be anyone like him again!

    Just to clarify (from his press conference answer), at 0:22 he's touching Stefan Edberg's board, not Steffi Graf's. The boards can be seen from both directions - we see Steffi, but on the other side was Stefan's name that Roger saw. Incidentally, those three are my favorite players of all time, so it's all good :D

    • @letsplay0
      @letsplay0 7 років тому

      chef his fans can remember him how they want, we both honestly know Federer never archived the level of intensity Nadal and Djokovic reached, he's just a marketable player from a neutral country. but let's be honest here, there is a reason both Nadal and Djokovic have a positive record against him with Nadal winning 2/3 of their duels. moreover Nadal played with Federer at just best and also with Djokovic and Murray at their best. Djokovic had Federer Nadal and Murray to win grand slams against, Federer had only Nadal, when Djokovic and Murray arrived he was winning nothing

    • @intellagent7622
      @intellagent7622 7 років тому

      bd "just a marketable player from a neutral country"?? that makes no sense lol. Fed has won the past 4 times against nadal. and djokovic and nadal both lost in this tournament yet fed is 36. and when djokovic murray came fed was out of his prime. where are djokovic and murray now? yes nadal was the only real stumbling block for fed in 2007 but as i said fed has won the last 4 times against him. and if you wanna talk about achievements fed has way more.
      20 grand slams
      most consecutive weeks at world number one
      most weeks total at world no 1
      most wimbledon titles
      Federer has won an all-time record 20 Grand Slam singles titles and has reached a record 30 Grand Slam finals (10 consecutive, and another 8 consecutive - the two longest streaks in history), 43 semi-final appearances, and 52 quarter-final appearances. He is one of eight men to have won a career Grand Slam (winning all four Grand Slams at least once) and one of four players to have won a career Grand Slam on three different surfaces, hard, grass and clay courts. Federer has won 8 Wimbledon titles, an all-time record. He is the only male player to have reached 11 finals at a single Grand Slam event (Wimbledon). He is the only player to win three different Grand Slams at least 5 times (Australian Open, Wimbledon, and US Open) and is the only player to win two Grand Slams five consecutive times at Wimbledon from 2003-07 and the US Open from 2004-08. Federer has spent 302 weeks as the No. 1 ranked player in the world (ranked No. 1 for 237

      S2 S2 Rafa still has 155 more points than him. It all works on a ranking based points system. Check out the ATP website and ull see what i mean.

      I really feel as if the amount of points that Grand Slams get don’t do them justice. A Grand Slam is worth way more than just two Masters 1000 combined IMO.

      Gsparrow YB no, it's Edberg. If you pause between 0:01 and 0:02, you can see Wawrinka's name written behind Li Na's. The names are mirrored, so Federer is also seeing the men's names on his left side, the same way we're seeing from the camera.

      That was MCA not Rod Laver Arena where the match was. It's just overfill for the people who couldn't get in the final where they can watch on big screen TV.

    • @Bbouy1HD
      @Bbouy1HD 7 років тому +2

      People with a ground pass who were watching on the big screen go to Margaret Court Arena to see the Champion with his trophy after the final. It's tradition. Aussies aren't racist, they just hate Singapore.
