- Our friends over at Masterbuilt have done it again. A few weeks back we got the privilege of cooking on one of their brand new Masterbuilt 560 Gravity Fed Charcoal grills and we were floored at how it ran. In fact, we’ve been using it ever since! When we heard about the larger 1050 we just had to have one. After chomping at the bit for a few weeks we were one of the first retailers to get our hands on them! We’ve been throwing everything we can think of at it including testing out a potential new product of our own! You can’t beat the value of a smoker like this. The features and quality are not something you typically find at this price point. Check out the video and let us know what you think down in the comments!
RECIPE:
6 Racks of Baby Back Ribs
Kosmos Q Dirty Bird Rub
One Butter Knife
Step 1 - Prep each rack of ribs by trimming off any excess fat, and removing the membrane from the backside.
Step 2 - Season them generously on both sides with the seasoning of your choice.
Step 3 - Light your cooker and get it up to at least 250 degrees F.
Step 4 - Once your grill has reached the desired temperature, place your ribs on the grill bone side down.
Step 5 - After about 90 minutes flip each rack of ribs over or until the color on the bottom is to your liking.
Step 6 - Wait an additional 45 minutes and begin to check each rack for the desired temperature. We recommend somewhere around 180 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 7 - Allow your ribs to rest in aluminum foil or a pan with a lid.
Step 8 - Carve them up and serve them hot!

I’ve had my 1050 for a month. I really do like it but I had to add a stainless steel mod for my firebox. They will warp, not sure how long the original would of lasted. Wish masterbuilt would of thought of that. Got it from one of Tommy’s guys on his channel the Gallery Backyard Bbq. Easy to put it and back to working like a champ. Love it
saw some pics and on my 1050 it looks like the area in question has been revised by masterbuilt. Even heard of people getting sent out new parts for that area from masterbuilt.

I just get reminded of my pops who passed about 5yrs ago, he loved camping and it's random but seeing your channel reminds me of how he also enjoyed grilling. I finally got word my 1050 is being delivered tomorrow by my local freight company! I needed something to cook with so I bought a brand new old school heavy offset smoker and have been having fun feeding it wood and learning offset cooking! (for heavy smoked foods) However, I bet the 1050 becomes my workhorse for most meats. I got a heavier duty, recalibrateable USA made TelTru BQ300 gauge for the MB1050 I also got heavy duty white fiberglass tadpole type seal / hi temp adhesive to assemble the Masterbuilt 1050 heatbox doors. Back that dam truck up! I have some Alabama White sauce Chicken to smoke!

Just landed me a 1050 after looking a bunch of options. Very happy with it as-is. I would do things a little different but then it would cost $2k and I won't want to spend the money on it. Did ribs from your video where you did the taste test on the glazes. I just went straight to the Pineapple one during the wrap. Makes me look like a rock star every time I grill. thanks!

So I have been going back and forth on getting a new smoker and have been watching vid after vid on the new Masterbuilt. I really cannot tell whether to wait for the 1050 to come out or if the 560 is good enough. I only cook for me and my fam (4 of us) so I wonder if the 560 is enough but then I keep hearing on various vids about 560 this and 1050 that...I would really just love to hear some feedback here from you all. Thanks in advance everyone, esp you Kosmo. Been enjoying the videos so keep'em coming!!!
From having purchased other cookers on the small side and wished I had bought the bigger for when (not if) you need the extra room......wait for the 1050 to be in your area to get it.

Can you talk about charcoal management with this grill? I am interested in knowing how much charcoal should you initially put in and let's say you finish cooking then at that point you pretty much use up the charcoal already inside the grill?

I just went to a local ace hardware in PA to get some post oak smoke wood, I what do I find !? Kosmo Q seasoning! I got me a thing of Texas beef. I’m going to try to smoke a brisket with it on my kettle , Texas beef , royal oak lump , an some post oak!

You have to apply baby powder to the grill and keep it a dehumidified area to keep the pos from falling apart.

I dunno man, I was looking at one at Cabelas the other day and there was a guy there loading up on charcoal and wood chunks just raving about the one he bought 2 days earlier.

@@rogercollins3 I don't buy anything with out hard research and the MB 560 met my needs. If they had the 1050 at he store i would've grabbed that up instead. I work long hours and don't want to be watching the smoker constantly. I have acces to butload of oak, beech and maple from work. I just cut them into chunks and throw them in the 560. The grill can definitely reach 700 degrees and higher depending on charcoal. Love it so far, it smokes, grills, and sears steak nicely. The down side is the assembly and grate for the charcoal, They must have kickbacks going on with briquette manufacturers cause the charcoal falls through into the ash bin when they burn down to 3rd the size. I"m gonna do a grate mod so that doesn't happen anymore. If I didn't have access to so much wood the pellet grill would've been my buy.

I just feel back because I have a very nice Weber gas grill that was given to us by a dear friend, and I don't have space on my deck for another grill, so it would have to go. I much prefer charcoal, and this beast looks like the best of both worlds. I love to smoke up some tasty meats.

Erick Soto heth Riles makes one -kosmos discontinued it because people with nut allergies meanwhile all they had to do was promote it better pecan Rub was great. That’s the story that I got from one of his employees but common sense pecans is nuts so people with nut allergies should know . I have no idea personally it’s just stupidity. The rub was great and Recently he brought it back and then took it away again

So after about a year of using the grill, do you still like it and recommend? I'm looking at getting one and am looking for a review or two from anyone that has been using this grill for a year or so. Thanks so much!!
Notice there was no reply to this? Haha my 1050 is an absolute boat anchor after 14 months and about 15 or so cooks. First my temp controller quit working, then the hopper seal. Has to bypass sensor switches and now finally the firebox is burnt out and this pos only heats up to about 150. I’ve never made such a poor investment. Masterbuilt does a fine job of deleting posts/comments etc, but if you look up troubleshooting problems and issues you’ll still find an abundance of them. Something I should have done before I purchased
@@Taylormade1383 I ended up getting the Char Griller 980, and other than the silicon flap issue, it has been pretty solid. I must have at least 35+ smokes on it.

Ahoy Brother, I'd been eyeing one of these, but have been leery of MASTERBUILT & all of the other Chinese products. A review from a reputable source (you) showcased that this is a product worth investigating. I got one, am happy with it. They are exploding across youtube now...
FYI there is an aftermarket insert available to make up for the short comings of the design regarding the hopper.
