I usually watch this scene with a concentration on Kate's facial expressions. This time I watched Rick closely. When she says, "I'm sorry" he swallows hard , like he's frightened what she will say next. Then when she says she shouldn't have lied, he exhales with relief. Two actors provide such nuanced performances. Remarkable.

More hints: Each time Beckett's father appears, this signifies a major turning point in Beckett's mental capacities. In other words....a major decision Beckett is about to make in her life. Beckett's dad appears only a few times in 5 years. Each time, Beckett is upgraded in mental stability, she gets closer to becoming a happier, normal woman and further from the cold, emotionless super cop she is shown in the first season. Also notice that Beckett becomes more attractive as time goes by

I don't feel it would be OOC b/c Kate takes leaps of faith once she feels safe. After she heard ILY out loud in Always, it gave her what she needed to feel emotionally secure, & the near death experience the impetus to commit to Castle. She almost died in Still, & Castle gave her his unconditional love here, so she has security again. A 'Yes' would parallel her commitment to Castle in Always. Castle has put it all on the line, so if she rejected him I don't think he'd regain his confidence.
fact is no matter how many different answers and stories for season 6 we will imagine, no matter how long we think about it, in the end the awesome writers will suprise us with a story that is simply amazing and that no one would have ever thought of!

Castle himself hasn't really held my interest since season 1 - Beckett (and to a lesser extent the rest of the cast) is the main reason I've watched since then.

I think that since season 1, Beckett has become more important to the success of the show than Castle himself. All of the best, most important episodes relate to events in her life and Stana is a much better actor than Nathan - without the rest of this show's cast & writers, Castle would probably have ended after a couple of years, like most if not all of the shows he appeared in before. He's a one-trick pony (comedy is his forte, not drama) and even then, he sometimes fluffs his only trick.

Then something like 3XK returning thrusts Beckett back into his life, and he doesnt know what to do. His brain tells him to resent her and cut his losses, but hes still in love with her. I dont know, there are a lot of possibilities.
What Castle said about her not letting people in and him having to scratch and claw for her trust was uncalled for! I mean he did not suffer the trauma she did, he has no right to judge her so harshly. What a selfish twat. He made up for it by proposing and offering his commitment and loyalty to the relationship though.

I think they've already lost a good chunk of the fanbase with the way nothing made sense and how they ruined Beckett's character in the last 3/4 episodes of season 5. The writers are going to have to do much, much better for the whole of season 6 if they want a season 7.
