I just realized that if you load SNES game twice in a row, the second time loaded, works much better, with more frames and sound

The 18650 removable battery was the best design choice I've seen in a while, way better than those old tiny BL-5C
Whfox...i'm glad someone's mentioned this...best battery choice in any handheld device to date...especially if like me you have like a dozen of them from old Laptop battery packs...
yep the only reason i bought this. those old nokia bl-5c arent too bad but the quality of them is just poor with fakes and worn out batteries everywere. its easy to get hold of high quality 18650 cells from reputable online vape stores etc
Just make sure to replace it with a protected one though...the stock battery doesn't have undercharge protection

Please, 4 days trying then the server just kick me and I have to download again, last time was after 7gb then server kicked me. It is impossible to download. Painfully slow speeds.
Need 17 days to finish download but always crashed after 2 days. Please anyone with a better luck to create a better download link 🙏🏼

I agree with everyone else in this comment section, please create an update to help GBA and SNES games run better and possibly help with the screen tearing. That would make the device amazing! :D
There's a few commentate saying their device can run SNES full speed after loading a game twice
I am very happy to see that they are taking the time to release a tutorial video. Hopefully they will read all the comments regarding performance improvements for Super Nintendo and GBA, and will eventually release a new update.

I hope we get to see a updated chipset, and screen model sometime in the future. This is a great form factor with lots of potential.
Everything about how you're doing this is fantastic.
Only suggestion: Upload a copy of the img file to a service like google drive, even if you have to get somebody else in NA to do it? Downloading at 100kb/s is really slow, and it can't be good for your servers either.
Seriously, great job though. This is better support than I've seen for some very expensive electronics.
Great to see it receiving updates. I don't regret my purchase a second, even if it has shortcomings, but I'm sure the issues can be ironed out if it's given some time.
What it really needs is a dedicated community and a more open software to edit to your liking. Tools to easily customize the UI, make button mappings and tinker with emulation settings.
I see good potential here. Keep it up

Newer shipments come with July-August software which has AV volume and GBA in-game saving fixed, but no performance updates

This update 1.5V is good, but SNES and GBA still need some improvements. Could you please put the "reset game" option when you press start+select ?

you need to make the download available on a better platform. Simply the link is always disconnected or the download speed is always compromised. I love the console, I really hope to see it running the games perfectly.

I tried to make a backup on another micro SD but when I put it in the console it doesn't work, any recommendations?😢
Tryed to do the download for the 1.71v 3 times, 3 failures. After some hours, now the all the links are dead. Frustating... Got one of these SF2000, player for 40 minutes and the screen went black. Some search and I figured out that the problem is corrupt data on the micro sd card. Only way to repair is through the dead links. Perfect...
OK GUYS, theres a GOOD INFO for all people claiming more Improve on SNES and GBA games. Just play the game and if the game becomes slow and low fps, just close game and start again fast. This make the game run a bit faster and playable. this works im some good games. Its Somthing.jpg :D

Download Link for 1.6 doesn't work and the download for 1.5 took over 8 hours. Please use better servers.
and sometimes with snes games if you run the game and exit and reload the game it will run better... or atleast it does for me..
There is some kind of problem with the link of the 1.7v update. It's too slow and it doesn't go till the end.

any plans to work with community/developers to open source the firmware or to use a default firmware like ark os, jel os or garlic os?
Data Frog contracted the firmware/software out, they don't have the source. We have an alternative SDK from the chip manufacturer but it's really unstable. And the stock one can't be distributed 'cause it's an ALi Tech proprietary OS.

Take a backup copy of your Bios and Resources folders just in case, but do not delete these 2 folders from the memory card. Then copy the 2 folders from the link and paste them to your memory card, press yes to overwrite files if asked.
Confirmed myself this works so you don't have to flash a whole new card and only need to download a small zip of the files instead of the whole 8GB.

@datafrog982 could you please check the download server? Tried to download for 2 days, speed is low but much worse: the download always fails (sometimes after a couple 100MB, sometimes after ~1,5GB. random.). At the moment, the server is completely gone.

Strange, I had audio, now updated and no audio...any idea why?
Update: poorly soldered speaker seemed to be the culprit and showed its head at the same time coincidentally. Ended up buying a replacement from Amazon and installed an improved speaker and it’s working. (Thought I’d follow up as there’s nothing worse when you’re looking for a solution to a problem and no one actually shows what they did.) hope it helps someone…

4 days trying to download and I can't, the link kicks me after 20-50% forever and cancels. It is like i have to download in a time that the servers cannot make the speed, then it kicks me.
Thank you for the guide! Will this handheld support PC Engine\TG-16 games in the future? Since they are 8-bit it seems they would be perfect for this hardware. I'm holding from buying for now since there's no PCE.
Anyway, good luck to you guys with this product, it seems interesting and we need more budget devices like this. I'd love to see v2 version with better and smoother controls, maybe better sound, even if device would cost ~30$.

I've read that the firmware 1.7 ***will mess up your save files*** I've read that while it fixes the SNES/SFC but where you have to quit the game and then run it again to achieve normal speed, but at the cost of messing up the save files!!
would be good if they could add double buffering to stop the screen tearing
Their software has triple buffering, but the LCD controller doesn't, and the refresh rates are different. There's a way to tweak video output timings, but probably no way to sync it to the controller, so some tearing will always be there. Anyway, I don't think original software releases can even tweak timings, look out for custom developments progress.
I'd love it if you'd add a NeoGeo Pocket Color emulator to the next possible firmware update.
And Game Gear/Sega Master System. Those are very old systems there's no reason this thing couldn't run those.
@@VOAN But Master System is already there. Just put .sms in ROMS folder. Game Gear only works when converted to a Master System ROM, though

After 3 or 4 uses the device wouldn't activate. Just the red LED lit. So I popped tge SD card into a reader and put it in my laptop. The card is unreadable. Is there a host for the generic image or a wY of getting a replacement?

guys to play well with SNES and GBA titles after updating the firmware, you just need to start a game and use it for 10/20 seconds, then close it and restart the game and I assure you that everything goes very smoothly

Use a card reader. Data Frog used to ship SF2000 with one, but now they don't. The type C socket is for a wired controller, there is no USB connectivity.

Hi, My screen turn black (red light is on), showing nothing, i put memory card in laptop and laptop unable to read from memory card. what to do?
Then obviously the card is not working anymore. You needed to make a copy of that card in your pc and use a new one. Don’t know how you are going to get the files to get it running so, if you don’t have the files, you’ll may need to buy another one and make a copy of the new sd. I got a brand new one and the sd doesn’t work, I used the sd from another sf2000 and it worked, so yeah, it’s the sd.
Installed this update, no key mapping option appears on it yet....

I bought one of this, but in SNES games, everything looks like SlowMotion, can i Fix it in any way?
Try loading the game, pressing start and select then closing the game, then reloading the game. Loading it twice worked well for me for SNES.
This issue is fixed with firmware 1.71
