(FULL VERSION) Korean parents try GREEK FOOD for the first time

- Took mom and dad to Taverna Kyclades in Astoria (the OG location) which is known to be one of the best Greek spots in NYC.
For appetizers, we ordered assorted greek dips - Skordalia (garlic and potato), tzatziki ((yogurt, cucumber), taramosalata (bread, fish eggs), tirokafteri (spicy feta), grilled octopus, crab meat stuffed clams, Spanakopita (Spinach Pie).
For main, we got scallops, Synagrida (Grilled Red Snapper), Sardeles (Fried sardines), and Paidaki (Grilled lamb) with sides - Patates Fournou (Lemon Roasted Potatoes), Patates Tiganites (Fried Potatoes), Horta (Swiss Chard), Rizi (Rice).
For dessert we had Galaktoboureko (custard pie) and Baklava.
This was one of the best restaurants we’ve been to in New York. The food is not fancy or overly seasoned with spices but extremely fresh and well-cooked. It tasted like eating at a Greek family’s home. For what we ate, the bill was not bad at all. The amazing lady who was serving us was Greek but reminded me of my own aunt with a tough, straight talking but super hospitable vibe 😂
The only downside is they don’t take reservation. We went on a Tuesday night and still waited 1 hour 30 min to be seated but was well worth it in my opinion. They have different locations but I heard Astoria one is the best.

My Mum always ate the heads. I like the head of Tsipoura also. but its the most oily part.

@@supermavro6072 turks were a nomadic tribe from anatolia, they foods were mostly various types of meats and quite plain. The rest are from conquered Byzantine areas: Greece, asia minor, modern day Syria, Lebanon, balkans, and so on, whatever they could "culturally appropriate"

One thing I can guarantee if reading the clickbait involves 'Korean's try......'
They are always a good vlog.
Korean people are extremely well mannered people & take a real interest in what they are going to eat.
There is never a NO! they will try everything offered (within reason).
If not liked they will explain why.
The enthusiasm is something shown instantly.
Koreans have some of the best appetites I have ever seen.
Korean people show their enthusiasm and gratefulness.
I'm not Korean, have no Korean friends & I live in a town with no Korean people.
Yet I feel both proud and moved.
This vlog ticked every box for me - it was perfect.
Thank you so much for posting and for sharing.
I am sure it will reach more people like me who will greatly enjoy - not just for the Korean family eating, but for the most wonderful Greek meze.

In Greece we say " Ξερει να τρωει " when someone is a good eater he knows how to eat good, i never imagined as a Greek watching a Korean eat greek food i would say "Ξερει να τρωει" respect to your dad !
Your dad cracks me up but where does all that food go?? 😂😂 Your mum’s eyes though when she ate the scallop those eyes said it all😍 she loves her some scallops. The food looked absolutely delicious. I love Greek food, I go to friend’s houses to eat their yaya’s or mother’s cooking cause it’s hard to find a good restaurant that sells great Greek food here.
That was a nice variety of foods though I think your Dad would've been happy with anything as long as he had Tzatziki to put on it! :) I do the same thing, it goes with everything in my book. I enjoyed watching them eat, especially you Dad as you can see how much he enjoyed it all especially the Tzatziki and the phyllo! Much love from Greece! ❤
