Best part was the guys face when you gave him the T-shirt
😍 He wasn't expecting that!
The 2 girls were just lovely
We had the best time with them!
The lady that does all the measurements and paperwork. I swear she's the only one that does the check in. And she's been doing it for a long time...I've seen her on other channels also she did my paperwork over 10 yrs ago
Hey Matt! Interesting that you had her as your inspector as well. She was awesome! Super informative, quick and painless process!
@@SailingOneLife I've seen her do check ins on three other UA-cam cruisers that I'm subscribed too.
fun to watch, - I have passed the Panama Canal maybe 25 times as a professional sailor, but never as a yachtsman, another way to experience it. Well done.
Hi Peter, thank you! It was such a wonderful experience. We will never forget it.
Been waiting for this one!!! 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Thanks, Gabe! Hope you enjoyed it!
Don’t forget the champagne! 🍾🥂🍾🥂
More importantly, have a safe and fun crossing!
Thanks guys! Champagne for sure! 🍾🥂
Beautiful experience!
I’ll keep watching, but I’m long Sold…It’s a Sailor’s Life for me🤙🏼
Hi Phillip! Thanks for coming along with us on this journey! Cheers!
Well done Guys.Hope your neighbor in is Lagoon 50 invited you for a drink
Haha! We wish they would have too! 😂
Awesome, and the crossing begins. What a fantastic piece of engineering. Woooooo Hooooooo well done, that is awesome. :)
Such a milestone for us! Can't believe we finally made it to the Pacific!
Expensive! Cannot believe what it costs to go through the Canal. We did it years ago on a Holland America cruise. Can’t image what that cost them.
The cargo & cruise ships must be charged a fortune to go through!
Congratulations for your accomplishments including the the Panama Canal. Enjoy the experience.
Thank you very much, Larry! We are enjoying our time out here.
that.was.awesome.
Thanks, Andrew!
What a great adventure. A whole new world is open again! Enjoy. My boat splashes on Monday and my adventures in the Chesapeake and OBX will begin soon. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Ed
Hey Ed! Oh wow we didn't realize your boat was in the Chesapeake area. We are planning on flying back to the US for a visit this summer and we may be stopping by there for a visit.
@@SailingOneLife It would be great to share an adult beverage with you and Gary. My marina is in Rock Hall and right on the Chessy! You would be welcomed. Enjoy your trip, we sure are enjoying you. Ed
Congrats you salty sailors 👌👌🇬🇩🖤🖤🖤🔥🔥🔥😎
Thanks Rebel! Miss you dude!! Hope you are doing well!
@@SailingOneLife Miss yall too,an good btw👌👌👍😎🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩🇬🇩
What a great beginning to a new adventure! I've transited the canal 4 times in my life, twice as you did and twice on large grey bottomed ships with guns and stuff. Brought back a ton of great memories, thanks for letting us tag along!!
4 times?! Whoa! I bet it was a very different experience taking your own boat vs the big ship! We often talk about our canal experience, it is such a massive operation. We will never forget transiting One Life through to the Pacific!
Congrats guys
Thanks, Donna!
Very Cool! Tank you!
Thank you so much!
Perhaps a workbench aboard for Gary could be squeezed in to enable him to do running repairs and maintenance?
He could definitely put one to use! Just need to find space for it!
One of the BEST videos we’ve seen. We felt like we were feeling all of your emotions with you!!! The turbulent waters in the locks had to be quite a challenge! You chose a great crew!
Stand tall and proud with this one. You captured it perfectly!!!!
Thank you so much, Booger! It took us awhile to put this one together and we really appreciate your comment! ♥️ Our crew was amazing.
Looks like a lot of work! The three boats working together with people you don't know was great! Congratulations!
It was very cool to have us all working together, despite not knowing each other. We all had one goal and we made it happen!! 🙌⛵
I love how you guys showed the whole passage in one video!! So cool! Thanks!
Thanks, Mike and Mar! Yeah it seemed fitting to do it all in one episode. Happy to hear you agree! Cheers!
Great video. Thanks for the share and congratulations.
Thank you! Transiting the Panama Canal was a major milestone for us! ⛵
The canal sure is quite an amazing work of human kind.. That had to be an exciting thing to do. The expense though... Oof.
Yeah expensive, but far cheaper than sailing all the way around the horn! We wouldn't jump through hoops to do it again, but the first time experience was well worth it!
I know this was a special and personal video for One Life and her crew. You NAILED it. Awesome video, incredible experience, and great commentary. Teamwork, stress, scrambles .. and nothing but smiles and challenges conquered. Rock on!!
Thank you so much, Matt! This transit was HUGE for us. Lots of prep and all kinds of emotions. We really appreciate all the good vibes you continually send us out here. We feel them and they keep us going!
Well done guys bet you were all really chuffed breaking out into the Pacific!!! Adrenaline, Anxiety and Excitement all rolled into six locks
Thanks so much, Ian! This transit really meant alot to us. We never expected to make it this far when we left from Florida. We appreciate all the support you send our way!
You guys rock! Looking forward to following along on the next Chapter for One Life as you explore the Pacific islands. Fair winds and following seas!
Thanks, Ronald! We are pretty stoked! So much to see and do on the other side!
Great stuff as usual.
Thank you, Magnus! Appreciate the support!
Loved sharing in your excitement crossing the Panama Canal, a great big achievement!
Thank you, Caro! It was definitely an exciting time for us! We never thought we would have made it this far!

Going through the Panama Canal, amazing to say the least. This is like fantasy/dream world stuff, and One Life is doing it, doing it for all of us; beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing this groovy moment in time and all that went with it. Stay groovy and stay safe.
Thank you so much! We are super stoked about being on the Pacific! We never thought we would make it so far! 🤙⛵♥️
Amazing 💯🇵🇦🌎

Good job, congratulations on your passage through the Panama Canal gate way to the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy your adventure on your way to the South Pacific. Peace
Thank you very much, Larry! We are excited to be in the Pacific!
congrats
Thanks! 🥂
I grew up in the Atlantic Bay in Coco Solo I could go into Colon at night when I was 15. My Dad rented an island on Gatun Lake 1dollar a year near where you buoyed up. I use to ride my Norton 100 mph at nite no helmet out to Ft Sherman where Shelter Bay is. I had a horse under the big Atlantic bridge I was the only boy with 20 girls at the horse stables. I paddled in a cayuco race thru the canal 3 times and won in 1970 timed under 7 hours. Good luck I love sailing youtubes
Hey there! Oh wow that is awesome! Sounds like you had some amazing times in this area!
Fantastic! Simply fantastic!! Sail on!⛵
Thank you, Nancy and Neal! We appreciate the good vibes! And sail on we shall!
Congratulations, happy for you
Thank you so much!
Congrats on the milestone of transiting the Panama Canal. Looks like an incredible experience!
Thanks so much! It was absolutely amazing! The history and scale of the project is mind-blowing.
Great video, love the emotions you all show. This gives everyone who views your Vlog a real sense of excitement you are having.
Between the anticipation, stress, thrill and finally the exuberance of finishing the task, we were able to live that with you.
Thank you and cannot wait until your next posting!
Safe travels, fair winds and following seas!!
Thank you very much for all the kind words! Transiting the canal was a huge milestone for us. We never thought we would make it this far!
Ahhh. Wow.
You found it! 🙌
@@SailingOneLife Nice! Would love to chat! You guys still out there I take it, sorry if obvious, need to watch more of your vids. Just got the idea of living full time on a sailboat, or cat, and doing my research. Seems like there is a lot to consider after watching your vids! We are tired of rat race. Cheers! Thanks for the replies!!!!
first time seeing what it looks like to go through the panama canal and it being yall first time made it even more educational much thanks. BTW what kind of boat do you sail? me and my pops are ready to get into it ourselves lol
Hey there! Glad you enjoyed the video! We are on a 40ft Nautical Development Offshore 40. There were only 14 of them built in Tampa, FL in the 80's.
Awesomeness!
Thank you! Hope you guys are doing well! Are you in the USVI?
We are just dinking around the tourist spots… Salt Pond is my favorite!
@@SailtoUtopiaAdventures We loved it there as well!
Now I can take Panama Canal off my list :). Thank you for sharing your experience. I think I'll either tow through land or sail via the south pole...
Hey, thank you! It is quite the process! We know a couple people who have had their boats trucked across!
That’s great! An Amazing accomplishment making it through the Panama Canal. New adventures await. Thanks for sharing !!!!!
Thank you, Mike! We are excited to be on the Pacific! So much exploring to do!
That was great! Very well done and well documented, thanks! Was curious if you staggered the boats to avoid masts banging at the top?
Thank you! Happy to hear you enjoyed this vid. Good question! We did not stagger the boats to avoid mast collision because there are no waves or swell in the areas we were rafted together.
Great job editing. Now off to new adventures! 😎
Thank you, James! We've got some great stuff coming your way! ⛵🤙
What a ride!! So crazy how it all works!
Wish you guys were there with us!
Absolutely amazing video! Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
Thanks, Robert! We appreciate you coming along on our journey!
Really cool perspective, thank you for sharing.
Thanks for coming along K C!
This is awesome, thanks Y'all. 😎😎 P.S Sound is awesome.
Thanks, Gibb! ♥️ Yay you noticed the sound improvement!! 😎
Great video...you guys did a great job documenting the Panama transit from many different prospectives. Definitely a page turner to your next chapter.
Thank you, Pete! We are definitely excited for our next chapter! We have a whole new ocean to explore!
Awesome job ,safe travels
Thanks, Jeffrey! We appreciate it! ⛵🤙
Awesome . I have never seen the canal process. Well worth the money i think :)
Definitely worth the money! 🙌
Pretty neat. Keep up the great videos. ✌
Thanks, Ronco! Hope you enjoyed this one!
Love it!
Thanks, Rusty! This one was tough for us to capture/film with all the moving pieces !
Another awesome video, great job team excited to see more adventures :)
Thank you, Jerry! We had an amazing team for sure! Super excited to see what's next for us!
Absolutely fabulous ‼️ Bummer the additional crew couldn't stay for a few days. Curious on how you met them and how that whole transaction went down so I can learn. Y. E. A. H. ‼️ 🎉 ✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝 👙 🌞 ✨
Hey Richard! Yes sad to see the girls go but they had to get on to their travels! We met them in Bocas del Toro at the recycling center we volunteered at. They were looking for a way to get to Panama City and we were looking for linehandlers for the canal. Stars aligned perfectly. Crew is very easy to find out here, there are always people looking to get somewhere. There are Facebook groups for each country we go to for example 'Panama Cruisers' if you join the groups and post that your are looking for crew you'll get many responses. You'll even see where crew post looking to join a boat. Feel free to email us sailingonelife@gmail.com if you have more questions! Cheers!
Good job. Mantap
Thank you!
Help Langganan Saluran I Thank you..
I'd love to learn y'all of you come up toward Mexico. I will be headed for the Sea of Cortez in October with my own boat Saoirse (yes I'm aware it's Baeu and Brandy's boats name as well). 😉
Hey thanks! We are planning to head that way! Send us a note on IG if you can! Would be great to meet somewhere!
Good on ya for the crossing, it is a milestone. An area of note correctly using VHF marine radio initial call transmissions procedures are rarely studied. When obtaining your radio operators permit does not unfortunately require any training. What I hear incorrectly all too often is rapidly repeating station calling and working 3 times for normal transmissions. You should use 2X's transmission for initial call of a potentially UNMONITORED stations. Better just once if no response call again. Then just talk normal. According to regulations only emergency distress, urgency and safety transmissions require a repetitive calling. This operating procedure has seemed to fester into a standard call procedure for normal calls throughout the amateur marine VHF community. Routine calling procedures require name and/ or other identifying information of the station being called, spoken clearly once only. The three times should only be used for distress, whether for Sucurite, Pan Pan or MayDay
Thank you! Great info on vhf transmission at well!
❤️❤️❤️
Thanks, Cindy! ♥️
If you had the time would going round south america be a realistic option rather than going through panama canal or is it just too difficult?
It would most certainly cost more to sail around in broken gear, and going east to west around the cape is a daring proposition. Maybe some day, but for now the best sailing for us is the most fun sailing 👍
Congratulations guys! Sail on, far winds, safe travels. ❤️
Thank you, Jorge! 🙌 Lots of new stuff to see now!
@@SailingOneLife always excited to see you guys❤️
How much did it cost? I was just there with my girlfriend but as tourists. Just splashed my boat today in NJ
Hey Jim! It cost us $2510. Well worth it! That is awesome about splashing your boat! What kind of boat do you have?
@@SailingOneLife I looked it up and it said it was 800 for a smallish sailboat. I guess the line handlers and the pilot cost too. I have a Hunter 23. I’ve taken some ASA courses and got this to learn on. I’m actually selling it and looking for a bluewater boat around 34 feet. It’s served it’s purpose! I retired in December and my girlfriend and I went to Panama. It was great. I’d suggest you guys go to Isla Coiba. It was amazing. We went on a day trip out of Santa Catalina. I was wishing there that I was on my own boat. So I could stay and explore the place. It’s on my bucket list now to sail there..watch for the crocs!
If you watch our previous video 'Launching into the Rio Chagres' the beginning shows the exact cost breakdown. That is fantastic that you are looking for a bigger boat to get out here. It certainly is an amazing way to travel! Stay tuned for Coiba Islands!
You look so tired!
I'm sure we probably were! Lots of prep to get ready for the canal transit!
👍🎣🌊⛵💯
Thanks Vincent! 🤙⛵
Who was the older, grey-haired dude.?
He is a family friend who is a captain in NY harbour who we invited onboard as one of our required line handlers. We introduced him in the previous video, I believe.
Awesome stuff guys! Love your work, stay safe
Regards Brett
Build A Boat?
😉
Thanks so much, Build A Boat!! 🤙⛵
Gonna miss the girls
We will too! They were a great addition!
The ship ahead of them is currently off South Africa - November 9, 2022.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
