It's really hard to beat katana for one reason. Lifetime repair or replacement of all housing components NO QUESTIONS ASKED. There is no company that does that besides LLI. Also, it's the 2nd lightest housing as far as I know. I would choose katana any day over DTNVS.

To be honest with you I don’t have any issues with the katanas and the warranty makes it pretty much the best housing in the market agreed

Thank you for the review, looks like you have an old generation Katana, the I.P.D stops will be much stiffer on updated housings. Just stopped in to say thank you for the review

I own a set and at $8000 I always know if these are on or off lol and always remove battery when not in use.

Those dtnvs have l3 24UA and personally I wouldn’t put them in a katana housing, but the katana housing is in my opinion up there with the best of the best

I’m not sure dtnvs are programmable, never heard that before and how would you program them with only a pull switch? The 1431 mk2 does let you program all that by pushing the button a certain amount of times.

kind of. due to the small width of the bridge it's also harder to collimate. It still is quite solid though, if you use it for recreational activities.

@@ikai640so for “duty use”, katana not sufficient? What would you recommend for “duty use”?

@@dsbiddle I'm kinda late however: Katanas are sufficient for "duty use" they have been adequately tested for socom standards (which they exceed) + a big thing for me: They come with lifetime warranty, i.e. should you break them, nocturn takes care of it for you. Their new katana gen3 can be bought as a injection molded model (i.e. "plastic") or aluminum. A dtnvs and katana are both great options I personally got a DTNVS now cause i got it for 1.7k, which is insanely cheap. But as I said the new katana housing price dropped from 1.8k to 1.5k, and if you consider all the plus sides with warranty and actual socom testing etc. etc. I believe they are really solid.
I could go further but I'll leave it at that. As stated get what you can afford responsably, people who argue about pointless minutia on NV Housings miss the point in my opinion., this stuff isn't a status symbol.
