If you spend enough time under a mono it feels just like a bino. I will always go for a mono over a bino because the fact you have one eye which still has natural night vision and is able to tell the difference whether the light you look at is white, red, green, IR,... in a split second (yes you can flip your articulating bino to the side but the human eye needs 30-45 minutes to recover full natural night vision. It also prevents me from running blindly into the moonlight and getting spotted by the opposing force. The thing i do like about bino's is the ability to set 1 tube to infinite focus and the other close to you. But again, this is a personal opinion. Everyone has their reason to prefer one over the other

I have to agree. I'm a Bino user. But the bino is only useful if you're under NODs for literally HOURS. For just 1-2 hours I would like to use a PVS-14.
I'm always spending money for Binos. And it always feels like wasting money. I think I'm the only one with a PVS-31 on my helmet thinking constantly "I wish I had a PVS-14".

And the thing with different focus settings doesn't work. It's straight up headaches.
Getting binos after 6 months of PVS-14 training was very disappointing. The only difference I directly felt was "woa, I can run stairs up and down like it's daytime". But since you're not able to see your feet in the woods, this is not really a pro.
So yeah, binos are not needed. They look cooler than they are.

money isn't always an issue, (well depends on the person) but having an binocular is pretty an + thing if you have the money to drop on one
night vision is an amazing thing to have on a dark filed or closed space without lights but having an night vision scope is another thing to look for if not having enough money for an binocular

@@DragonBorn if you have enough for a night vision scope get one, don't cheap out on one
I usually play without night vision in dark field/area since its more fun for me in my opinion

Great points and discussion. A Pvs-14 or similar is already expensive as is yet is much more attainable than a binocular system for the average citizen. If you’re trying to build up a kit that extra money can be better spent on other gear or life stuffs. Seeing in the dark is seeing in the dark, get in the game and move on!

I've read the opposite advice, which is to skip the monocular and go for two ECHOs if you need to. I suppose it comes down to what you're doing. I think there is too much marketing emphasis on the military side of these devices. In modern war, people are shooting at 3 stacked pixels on a thermal scope. They aren't waiting in a woods ambush with maximum spec monoculars and complete light discipline.

Senator I just wanna shoot coyotes without breaking the bank. night vision seems useful and sick but what do I buy?

I've heard night vision is better for some things but I could also do thermal and get a thermal scope even. Which I've seen some listed for cheaper than the middle one I believe was the pvs 14 but I have no idea how good those are.

@@DragonBorn pvs14 is the housing, it’s the standard for monocular night vision, the image intensifier tube is what determines how good it is, and the price. Low end pvs14 could be $1500, top of the line is $5200, but appears the same on the outside. The difference is how much clarity and low light performance you’ll get in true dark environments

@@d3m0m4n thanks I did not know that. This stuff is very expensive for a hobby though Jesus. Like I said I just wanna shoot coyotes haha 😄
