I recently got the Valiant Eagle Gold to replace the cheap one that came on my Ugly Stik GX2. Totally changed the feel of it. Haven’t had it out yet, but I’m definitely curious about the rest of what they make.
My Megatron is still working. The handle broke tho. the screw came off. Their support team mailed me a replacement very quick. I think it's okay for the price. I had a good deal on it a while back. but i don't know anything about the current versions. On the flip side, their VE Casting reels are total let down. especially their BFS one as it's costs more than the zephyr, yet it's full of problems and feel dirt cheap (sorry KastKing, honesty is key for my fans)
@@rawrfishing So you think I’ll regret it or you think I’ll be fine with it? I was wanting the Sharky III baitfeeder for a sitdown cat setup, but the Okuma Avenger baitfeeder is only a bit more. 🤷🏻♂️
Sorry bud, I have no clue about the spinning Valiant Eagle. I heard their gold version is supposed to be their better end of the VE Spinning? One thing for sure is that I always was happy with their support team whenever something goes wrong!
Nice looking reel Jimmy. Glad to see Kastking making aluminum framed reels. I would consider getting one. I have lots of Kastking reels, started buying when Leo was using them. I have been using Lew’s reels since last season. All metal framed reels like the Mach 2, Mach Crush and Custom Speed Spin spinning reels and the LFS and Tournament MB baitcasters. I prefer the no flex metal framed options now on all my reels.
I also like the harder frame reels. It feels much more stronger but there r days I wish they were carbon fiber and light as a feather. Carpal tunnel is no joke lol. I may have a few vids that I have excluded, but basically I set the hook and rod and reel drop out of hand due to pain. Once so far this year! Life of a computer nerd...
@@rawrfishing Yes kayak fishing, I almost always flip in the waves and my okuma b avenger ends up with saltwater and sand, I need that feature, I can tell the seaknight rapid and axe are water tight, they have a nice gasket in the drag knob.

They feel very similar, I only have used the sharky 3 for a handful of times. I should use that more. but I know someone who neglect and beat their sharky 3 and it still works fine. I would say the S3 feels more rugged than the Megatron

Great review man! Is the 2000 a good size for just largemouth fishing? I was trying to decide between the 2k and 3k. The 2k isn't like a ultralight is it? How has it held up for you? Thanks man!
thanks man! The 2k one should do all the bass fishing and even some other fishes too. it's more relative to the size of lures you are throwing and how thick of the line you wanna use. 2k isn't really considered UL. size 500 to 1k would be UL, 2k would be ML through M where as 3k to me is between M and MH. I am using it for snakehead fishing at the moment. fun as heck lol
Two of my favorite ways to connect braided line to leader material is an FG knot or the Alberto Knot. don't confuse the Alberto with the Albright knot! Lately I have been playing with the Tony Pena knot.. man knots are so much fun!
Can I ask you one more question? If im using a 20 lb braid, what size of leader do you recomend me? Im using spinning combo 7 ft médium. I want to use as much lures posible.
Leader should be used based on your technique, but rule of thumb is 2-3 sizes up and down from your braided line. so if you got 20 lb braided, you can do 12, 15, 17, 20, 25, 30 lb leader material. note that may vary based on brand as not all brand diameters are the same.
