In the anime Pegasus gets carried away to a hospital and is just written off the show until he turns up in GX for a small cameo. A pretty big change from the manga to the anime.
@@davidvasquez08 No, I think you're confused here. Pegasus, to my knowledge, never had any kids that I'm aware of. Pegasus did survive in the anime, however, and went on to make numerous more appearances in the original series and gx
I always love the origin of yugioh being rooted in Egyptian Mythology. The good, the bad, and the brutal is all referenced in this children's card game.
From what the manga says Bakura's dad is still alive in the manga and the Dark Side of Dimensions movie, but Bakura lives away from him, since chapter 320 says he owns the Domino City Museum and Yami Bakura uses that as the way to set up the Shadow RPG.
Yes. The Dark side of Dimentions movie was on crack when it comes to continuity. It was supposed to be a sequal to the manga but everything points to it being in the animeverse. The monster dimention stuff was not in the manga. That was introduced in the Waking the Dragons filler and they kind kf just ran woth it from then on. It became a big part of series like GX and 5 ds but in the manga there were no alternate dimentions like that. There were no magic prodgidy kids creating magic utopias. There was alchemy and dark magic. Demons and good spirits. Afterlife realms but not parallel timelines, places souls went. The monsters were actually the manifestations of people's souls when using alchemy to manifest them. Shadi was actually a spirit or angel that made a promise to protect Atem. His father gave his life in prayer for the protection when he learned the dark truth about the millenium items. Shadi sadly messed up however. Atem sacrificed himself, binding his and Zorcs souls in the pendent ( what would become the puzzel) and thus Shadi was stuck on earth. He had not completed his part of the deal so he was earthbound until Atem was properly guided to the pharonic afterlife. He takes multiple forms including Babosa and Hasan during this. He WAS NOT a living man in the late 80s/early 90s. Bakura did NOT kill him. Bakura was not even with his father when he got the ring. They made all thsi nonsense up for the movie. It can make sense for the anime timeline but it conflicts with pretty much everything in the manga timeline. I LOVE Sazuki Takahashi (RIP) and his story crafting but he REALLY just went insane or sold out with this one because it doesn't work with his original story at all. It really has the stench of big production company wanting the anime fans to feel most comfortable while selling the gimik of it being a manga sequal.
This is an interesting possible series. I'd love to see videos for the other series as well! In my opinion the deaths in Bakura's village are the darkest. Just imagine living your life and all of a sudden a bunch of brainwashed soldiers throw you and all your friends into a vat of molten metal. All that leading to a boy with crazy hair to be really good at a children's card game.
If we also go by the Manga, I have to say that one of my favorite deaths has to the one of Pegasus. That Bakura ripped the Millennium Eye out and let him bleeding out from that is so brutal to me. And I just love Bakura, so I am kinda biased when it comes to that haha Nice Video!
@@cliffturbo2146 Everyone but Yuma and Tori died once, and most were revived. Hell, at one point, there were only 7 characters who were alive and relevant.

Manga Honorable mentions: -In Season 0 and Shadi's first appearance, the curator of the museum Kanemoto asked Yugi to borrow the Millennium Puzzle for his exhibit. He however made a backdoor deal to sell it instead of returning it to Yugi. Shadi comes and judges him with the Millennium Scales. The greed in Kanemoto's heart makes Ammat appear and devour his soul, making Kanemoto die of a heart attack. -Bandit Keith playing Russian Roulette with his own finger and losing due to Pegasus' punishment -Gozaburo's suicide in the manga is shown, with Gozaburo saying this is a final lesson to Seto about what happens to losers. -Also that one Pegasus security guy that is "eaten" by Man Eater Bug. Mahad's "death" in the Millennium World arc is pretty gruesome too. He gets killed by one of the swinging axe traps, even if it isn't shown.
I'd be down to see more of these. I know for GX there's pretty much the entirety of season 3 you could draw from. 5Ds probably has some good materials with the dark signers too.
I think Arkana's death should be an honourable mention; as a magician, someone who revels in sleight-of-hand and conjurers tricks, perishes to something quite mundane in a circular saw. Very, very painful but ironically mundane and I think it's worth mentioning.
But he doesn't die to a saw? Marik implies he will end himself after the duel off panel in the manga due to the grief, but nothing about saws. Yugi saves him from the saw.
Oh wow I’ve been waiting for you to cover this for a while. Great content like always. Can’t wait for the other series. Like in 5Ds, every dark signer died. That’s how they became dark signers. It’s pretty metal 😎
I always loved the duel between Yami Bakura and Bonz. It's a simple... and very one-sided... duel, but the creepy factor of the episode never fails to make me smile :D
Started watching 5D's (Japanese, Subtitled) and was quite surprised at some of the scenario's/deaths that happen in that series, can only imagine some of it had to be censored!
@@Qblazer100 Or the father of those two kids just, plummeting to his death in front of them down a mineshaft lol... Or where Aporia attached those devices that slowly stick needles into your heart to the KIDS! Crazy haha
5D's has their own fair share of dark and gruesome deaths. The death of Sawyer for example (which robs Akiza of her vengeance duel, where I am still mad).
In Tag Force 4 Misty routes. It's somewhat more messed up depending on how you look at it. There after some while hanging out with her, Misty (Its implied) convinces herself that The Red Hat (Tag Force protagonist) looks very similar to Toby and wants him to stay by her side. Though as Dark Signer form, uses him to accomplish her own goals while simultaneously "protecting" him from harm. It implies Misty has gone mad and uses the Red Hat to cope with the lost of her brother
DSOD had some of the most raw lines ever. After Yami Bakura kills Shadi and all the kids start crying he says "Don't waste all your tears on him, you really should save some for each other"
"Wait, wait, wait. Because Marik was abused by his own family, he swore revenge against a guy that was already dead? A guy that he probably never met, due to the whole 'already dead' part?" -"Well, it made perfect sense in the Japanese version." "How?! How the heck does that make one iota of sense?!" - ... "Because, shut up."
A year late, but it wasn’t the abuse that lead Marik down that path. It was the fact that Yami Marik killed his father, but then Shadi implies that the pharaoh did it instead of just straight up telling him the truth.
Honestly there just hasn’t been a YGO villain to match Yami Marik ever since battle city. Like there’s just something about how his narrative ties aren’t even to ATEM, but to what the pharaoh as a whole symbolizes that’s just so cool
I feel like it's worth pointing out Bandit Keith's death in the manga. The dude was forced to shoot himself after his hand got turned into a literal fingergun.
All of those deaths just brought me back to me thinking as a kid there's gotta be something a little bit deeper to this and I was right in the Japanese version all these deaths were super duper worse. Even the 1st one which still terrifies me even after knowing it but thank God you kicked it off with something light and something that was a nice death for once lol. Wouldn't mind watching this type of video for the other yugioh seasons TGS!
The idea of a character dying is a thousand times more comforting than the idea that they were dragged into a place of eternal torment for losing a card game
So I love the video up until 8:52, I don't know how new you are to Yu-Gi-Oh sir, but that flaming phoenix is the indisputable Mega Ultra Chicken, and quite frankly I am appalled that you did not recognize that
You didn't talk about bandit keith death but that probably because that was change between the anime and the manga. His death was apparently so brutal that the anime did rework it.
Does anyone other than me somehow think that the Shadow Realm is like, WAY worse? If it works the way we see it work for Mai, you get to see the world go on without you, clawing at the edges of your magical prison as the villains make every possible move in the shadows and you slowly lose your sanity without the mercy of death. It's kinda like the exact same thing they did in Kamen Rider Dragon Knight that also made THAT show way darker than I think 4Kids intended
Considering in the manga we see Bonz's body on the ground as Bakura walks away the ring most likely just removed their souls from their bodies and maybe sent them to hell.
In 5ds Kiryu Kyosuke/Kalin Kessler died of starvation. His death was SO HARROWING he came back as a revenant who only wished for death and revenge. To die from starvation you must slowly lose all energy and nutrients in your body. This process must have took months and the guards put in charge of keeping him ALIVE stood by and purposefully withheld his food. Proof of just how low people feel about those from Satellite. EDIT: oh just the original huh? Guess I misunderstood the promt my bad. From the original I gotta go with Joey vs Marrik. That shit stuck with me throughout the years as a kiddo.
I would put Joey at number 3 at least because of how much pain he endured and how his death felt so damn wrong man. I swear it felt like it was Joey who was supposed to beat Marik but the editors forced the creator to change it at the last second.
I wouldn't say that Joey was supposed to beat Marik, as it wouldn't have been right for him to be the one to win due to plot reasons. I feel like the thought that Joey was "supposed to" win against Marik was more than anything people wanting to see him win, which is a very popular line of thought. I never personally thought there was any way Joey could've won his duel, since it was very clear they were building up to Yugi versus Marik as the final showdown of the arc, so having Joey win that duel would've likely screwed everything up. A big part of the reason I believe this is because Joey would claim possession of the Winged Dragon of Ra, Marik's Egyptian God card, which Joey most likely wouldn't have been able to use in his own deck; if he could, it would've likely been at the very least hinted at that he had that kind of potential, but that never came to be
I always thought the shadow realm was significantly scarier than death. I'd rather die than be alive in a realm of darkness that's engineered to be the ultimate form of torment for me.
What we actually need, but again likely won't get, is a legit anime adaptation on the original yugioh manga, I say not likely due to the fact the yugioh company is more focused on selling trading cards instead of a faithful adaptation, even though I'm sure it what takahashi sensei would've wanted, his work showed exactly how he drew it
Outside of DM, there are several other noteworthy incidents in the spin offs. With GX, there was technically Hell Kaiser death through heart attack. Even as a kid watching the dub, the internal shot of his heart was unnerving. 5ds may have the causality of any yugioh show. With the zero reverse incident, the bad timeline 2nd zero reverse. How the dark signer met their initial end. Bomber being hanged by spiderweb, Carly falling to her death, Kallin starving to death and so on. Zexal, similar to Dartz and his henchman. Don Thousand gather his followers through similar means. But otherwise Zexal isn’t as brutal in my opinion. Even when the side character were sent to Barian world in the final arc. Arc V….the universe restarted twice. And three of Yu boys and three of the bracelet girls could be consider gone. Vrains, aside Dr. Kogami, revolver father and the biggest dumbass I have ever seen. And maybe the Ignises, Robopoppy and other AI based characters. Nothing too noteworthy. Meanwhile Sevens and Go Rush are just wacky hi jink and nothing serious at all. That’s not a bad thing, I’m just mentioning it.
Are you going to ignore Jaden (as Supreme King) killed so many people (and duel spirits) and was just used as fodder to create Super Poly. Or the fact before Supreme King fiasco, Dark World fiends were hunting down and killing/imprisoning people
What confuses me is that, in the manga, Bakura says that his father returned from Egypt with the Millennium Ring as a gift. Was his memory altered? If so, didn't he notice his father was gone?
But, once again, wouldn't he notice his father was gone? Another comment even says that his father was alive, but lived in a separate location, so I can't imagine them suddenly losing contact and Bakura just ignoring that fact.
@@petersimpson4648 David just explained how he could have very well noticed that his father was gone but was subconsciously denying the truth. That completely explains away the “once again, wouldn’t he recognize his father was gone?” Argument.
@@st8ofmind325 Yes, but I still have trouble believing that Bakura wouldn't, down the line, start to question his memories, or have someone who didn't witness the event ask him about his father's disappearance. Even if these things happened "offscreen", it would be nice to have confirmation.
Having been tortured and having the full wrath of an Egyptian god take you on, that’s a pretty epic way to go, especially because you didn’t go down right away.
I always liked the shadow realm premise or as I actually knew it "el reino de las sombras". If you lose a duel you don't die but instead sent to basically a hell dimension, however you can be saved if your friend wins a card game. It'd a good stake for a childs tv show.
Please do for the other series! I think other series had way more brutal deaths, especially subbed ( obviously ) 5Ds and Arc V. Mostly looking forward to those two.
In the original show Bakura's father never died, he was in Egypt and came across a man who was selling the Millennium Ring. He bought it and ended up giving it to Bakura when he got back from his trip
I think i have a fair enough theory about Yami Marik: When his father carved the tablet into Maril's back with the Millennium Rod, some of the souls within the rod managed to seep through the blade, which help twist the alternate persona of Marik to be very powerful and violent, given Yami Marik could be the result of Marik's own built up anger and the possession of the souls used to forge the very Rod that carved Marik's back

And I just love Bakura, so I am kinda biased when it comes to that haha
Nice Video!
The fact of most of the deaths in the series are from DM and Zexal is kinda concerning.
The casualty rate for the cast was a staggering 95%-99%
Especially Zexal.
5d´s had a lot of deaths as well but most of them happened off screen.
@@cliffturbo2146 Everyone but Yuma and Tori died once, and most were revived. Hell, at one point, there were only 7 characters who were alive and relevant.
SPOILERS
In Zexal most of the characters died
Wow, I didn't know that the Battle City scene with Bonz and his gang was the last we ever saw them. I was so sure that they were briefly shown after the tournament alive and well, but nope. Also just found out that he's just out right killed in the manga and not sent to Hell there, like you see his corpse. Really dark considering him and his crew are like 14-16 year olds and were relatively harmless.
yeah, being forcibly thrown into HELL is probably the worst fate any of these people suffered.
I'd love to see one for GX and 5Ds. I know both of those got waaaat darker when you go into the original Japanese. Like Carly just being straight up murdered by being thrown out of a window
Well she kinda does in the dub as well, we might not really see her touching the ground, but she still is thrown out of a window at the top of a building, hard to believe she survived
@@aloisssssss She falls into the "Purpley Dimension" which is the Shadow Realm in the Dub and then just shows up later as a Dark Signer.
@@absolutionveil8632 Oh ? My bad then, I watched it in French and although it is the 4kids version I have no recollection of it being described this way
@@aloisssssss oh it wasn't described that way, if was visually shown that way. At least it was in the original American release of it.
@@absolutionveil8632 Oh, I see what you're talking about visually, but I didn't remember the purple thing to be called a portal to another dimension, so for me she still fell to her death only she didn't hit the ground but this purple thing instead
Manga Honorable mentions:
-In Season 0 and Shadi's first appearance, the curator of the museum Kanemoto asked Yugi to borrow the Millennium Puzzle for his exhibit. He however made a backdoor deal to sell it instead of returning it to Yugi. Shadi comes and judges him with the Millennium Scales. The greed in Kanemoto's heart makes Ammat appear and devour his soul, making Kanemoto die of a heart attack.
-Bandit Keith playing Russian Roulette with his own finger and losing due to Pegasus' punishment
-Gozaburo's suicide in the manga is shown, with Gozaburo saying this is a final lesson to Seto about what happens to losers.
-Also that one Pegasus security guy that is "eaten" by Man Eater Bug.
Mahad's "death" in the Millennium World arc is pretty gruesome too. He gets killed by one of the swinging axe traps, even if it isn't shown.
Season 0 is also the one where the thug burns to death, right?
Because Yami Yugi set him on fire.
Season 0 can get its own list
I would definitely love to see a 5Ds version of this but even if it becomes a full series, I'll be here for every one.
5Ds and zexal are the ones I wanna see the most
I'd be down to see more of these.
The saw didn’t kill Arkana
Yugi rescued hun
Oh wow I’ve been waiting for you to cover this for a while. Great content like always. Can’t wait for the other series. Like in 5Ds, every dark signer died. That’s how they became dark signers. It’s pretty metal 😎
I always loved the duel between Yami Bakura and Bonz. It's a simple... and very one-sided... duel, but the creepy factor of the episode never fails to make me smile :D
Saying that I need a part two of this will be an understatement
Ok, but is anyone gonna talk about how messed up Bandit Keiths death in the manga was? Gives a whole new meaning to hand gun…
"Gives a whole new meaning to hand gun..."
Bro 💀
Started watching 5D's (Japanese, Subtitled) and was quite surprised at some of the scenario's/deaths that happen in that series, can only imagine some of it had to be censored!
He should realy do a vid like this for 5ds
Right! Bomber getting fucking hung was crazy the first time I watched 5ds
@@Qblazer100 Or the father of those two kids just, plummeting to his death in front of them down a mineshaft lol... Or where Aporia attached those devices that slowly stick needles into your heart to the KIDS! Crazy haha
5Ds has some amazing death scenes. Particularly the guy hung by the spider web 👀
I remember that! First time I saw that my only thought was “…. Did someone just get lynched in a show about children’s card games on motorcycles?”
First half of 5Ds is just Akira.
Second half is just Terminator 2
@@soukenmarufwt5224 I don't remember Terminator 2 being that depressing.
What about the lives that Akiza killed ?
A sequel to this video regarding the spin-offs would be great.
Misty's Brother case was way more traumatic for me than half of these
5D's has their own fair share of dark and gruesome deaths.
The death of Sawyer for example (which robs Akiza of her vengeance duel, where I am still mad).
@@Celldragon The chick he murdered killing him after being revived seems better justice
@@Celldragon he was revived, and promptly thrown in prison by sector security
In Tag Force 4 Misty routes. It's somewhat more messed up depending on how you look at it.
There after some while hanging out with her, Misty (Its implied) convinces herself that The Red Hat (Tag Force protagonist) looks very similar to Toby and wants him to stay by her side. Though as Dark Signer form, uses him to accomplish her own goals while simultaneously "protecting" him from harm. It implies Misty has gone mad and uses the Red Hat to cope with the lost of her brother
Celldragon
But Akiza wasn't innocent either. She killed lives because she was upset.
Aigami’s retort after killing the bully is still so incredibly good.
“He’s history!”
“No, history is actually remembered.”
Oof! Chills
12:04 you got seto mix up with his dad Akhenaden lol
This
Can you do a “Top 10 Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged gags that became canonized”?
One of Tristan's Skills is "Super Strenght"
?
The art work in old yugioh trap cards were really dark too
Dose tragedy come to mind?
The fact that this kind of list even exists for what is supposed to be a playing card game themed anime for children is legitimately impressive.
The Village of Kul Elna Massacre still gets me whenever I see it. Men Women and even Children killed to create the 7 items. *shudders*
Carly's death before becoming a dark signer in 5ds is quite brutal as well, if you wanted to do another video including non-dm moments
DSOD had some of the most raw lines ever. After Yami Bakura kills Shadi and all the kids start crying he says
"Don't waste all your tears on him, you really should save some for each other"
That sounds like a amazing line
And with scuds death too. “No; history is remembered.”
God the villains of that movie go so hard I love it.

"The old man did not know what he was fucking with!"
Great content as always man. You’re one of the few channels I subscribe too. Looking forward to the next duel analysis.
Bakura to Bones and His friends "You like zombie cards so much, Well why don't you meet some real ones"
"Wait, wait, wait. Because Marik was abused by his own family, he swore revenge against a guy that was already dead? A guy that he probably never met, due to the whole 'already dead' part?"
-"Well, it made perfect sense in the Japanese version."
"How?! How the heck does that make one iota of sense?!"
Bakura's so good at being the biggest bad that nobody even remembers him being way worse than Marik.
Marik's a hammer, Bakura's a scalpel.
Amazing video of brutal deaths in the original yugioh anime series, fantastic job on the video.
Sub: you die
Dub: you get sent to a place of eternal torture
I feel like it's worth pointing out Bandit Keith's death in the manga. The dude was forced to shoot himself after his hand got turned into a literal fingergun.
Always up for more Yugioh Darkness, so please do the rest of the Shows
All of those deaths just brought me back to me thinking as a kid there's gotta be something a little bit deeper to this and I was right in the Japanese version all these deaths were super duper worse. Even the 1st one which still terrifies me even after knowing it but thank God you kicked it off with something light and something that was a nice death for once lol. Wouldn't mind watching this type of video for the other yugioh seasons TGS!
There was actually a second survivor of Kul Elna in the Yugioh GX Manga, who eventually became Tragoedia.
This video was amazing! I'd love to see you do GX and 5ds next!
Definitely would love to see more of these for the future series, especially since 5Ds I feel had a lot of censored deaths!
The idea of a character dying is a thousand times more comforting than the idea that they were dragged into a place of eternal torment for losing a card game
Zexal has some good ones, especially with the Barian Lords
So I love the video up until 8:52, I don't know how new you are to Yu-Gi-Oh sir, but that flaming phoenix is the indisputable Mega Ultra Chicken, and quite frankly I am appalled that you did not recognize that
I would really love to see your top 10 darkest Yu-Gi-Oh! moments, but please do the other top 10 deaths for the rest of the series
You didn't talk about bandit keith death but that probably because that was change between the anime and the manga. His death was apparently so brutal that the anime did rework it.
Honestly, if we talk about the manga then Bandit Keith, Pegasus, and plenty from season 0 would make it into the list
I agree with you
Yes please do more of these for the rest of the series, I really liked this video...
Considering in the manga we see Bonz's body on the ground as Bakura walks away the ring most likely just removed their souls from their bodies and maybe sent them to hell.
Finally you posted something different. I hope you continue to make videos like this.
The way skud disentagrated reminds me of thanks snapping people out of existence
I definitely want to see your take on the deaths in 5D’s (especially the hanging one)
I'd love to see more of this. I watched up to 5Ds but all dubbed, and I'm still shocked just how much got censored/changed
I would put Joey at number 3 at least because of how much pain he endured and how his death felt so damn wrong man. I swear it felt like it was Joey who was supposed to beat Marik but the editors forced the creator to change it at the last second.
Imagine if Joey stayed dead.
A big part of the reason I believe this is because Joey would claim possession of the Winged Dragon of Ra, Marik's Egyptian God card, which Joey most likely wouldn't have been able to use in his own deck; if he could, it would've likely been at the very least hinted at that he had that kind of potential, but that never came to be
@@matthewkuscienko4616 Marik getting beaten by joey because he focused on torturing ratherthan winning would have been cool tho
I really hope we get a video like this for each series.
I always thought the shadow realm was significantly scarier than death. I'd rather die than be alive in a realm of darkness that's engineered to be the ultimate form of torment for me.
Really nice video :D Would love to see one for GX, 5Ds and so on :D
Who knew card games was so intense
Man i love your content. Kudos
This is why I want an Uncensored English Dub. I wanna actually see Yu-Gi-Oh as it was meant to be. Not a kids show.
Will never happen
@@vircentti Officially, Nope, sadly not.
I mean the sub does exist.
@@xeylzo7001 Not the same thing.
What we actually need, but again likely won't get, is a legit anime adaptation on the original yugioh manga, I say not likely due to the fact the yugioh company is more focused on selling trading cards instead of a faithful adaptation, even though I'm sure it what takahashi sensei would've wanted, his work showed exactly how he drew it
how could one anime be so traumatizing yet so fucking awesome bro

Definitely wanna see more of this
Z-arc genocide is hella dark imo
Or the fact before Supreme King fiasco, Dark World fiends were hunting down and killing/imprisoning people
I knew it was gonna be dark but I didn't know it was gonna be THIS DARK
What confuses me is that, in the manga, Bakura says that his father returned from Egypt with the Millennium Ring as a gift. Was his memory altered? If so, didn't he notice his father was gone?
Probably the trauma he experienced probably subconsciously denied what happened that night
But, once again, wouldn't he notice his father was gone? Another comment even says that his father was alive, but lived in a separate location, so I can't imagine them suddenly losing contact and Bakura just ignoring that fact.
@@petersimpson4648 true, but that’s probably down to oversight from the writers
Would love to see this for the future series', always love seeing how dark Yugioh is!
Definitely do the other seasons. This was very insightful
Please do for the other series! I think other series had way more brutal deaths, especially subbed ( obviously ) 5Ds and Arc V.
Mostly looking forward to those two.
Kaiba accepted Joey as a duelist. Now I've seen it all.
Aki's brother being tortured with shock and eventually electrocuted may not be the most visceral death but it is, to me, by far, the most unnerving.
I would love to see it for the other series 💕
In the original show Bakura's father never died, he was in Egypt and came across a man who was selling the Millennium Ring. He bought it and ended up giving it to Bakura when he got back from his trip
I think i have a fair enough theory about Yami Marik: When his father carved the tablet into Maril's back with the Millennium Rod, some of the souls within the rod managed to seep through the blade, which help twist the alternate persona of Marik to be very powerful and violent, given Yami Marik could be the result of Marik's own built up anger and the possession of the souls used to forge the very Rod that carved Marik's back
Thanks for the quick reminder that at the beggining Yu-Gi-Oh was meant to be horror series.
Wow! I had no idea of these deaths as I'll admit that I just watched the English dub. Thanks for the upload!
