  • The Detroit Lions defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 26-14 on Monday Night Football. Jared Goff finished with 272 pass yards, a touchdown and pick-six, while Jahmyr Gibbs shined with 189 total yards and a touchdown. Colin Cowherd shares his biggest takeaway from the win, including why fans should 'get used to' seeing Detroit run the NFC North. On the other side, the Raiders' offense was held to just 157 total yards. Jimmy Garoppolo had 126 yards, an interception and was sacked six times, while Davante Adams only had one catch. He was seen slamming his helmet in frustration on the sidelines. Colin analyzes what is causing everything to go wrong for the Raiders.

Never should’ve hired him in the first place. I don’t know if Rich Bassacia would’ve been the long term answer at HC but he EARNED the right to get a chance after the job he did in 2021. He inherited a team that was going through major toxicity with Gruden and the Henry Ruggs incident and they made the playoffs. Instead, Davis hired a guy who already failed as a HC with a division rival no less. Total mess and a big reason why the Raiders are a joke.

Colin failed to mention that it started from the top. Sheila Ford brought in Chris Speilman who together brought in GM Brad Holmes and they ALL together hired, in my qualified opinion, THE BEST HC that The Lions ever had. If The Lions make it to A Super Bowl in my lifetime, it will be because of HC Dan Campbell. This young man is laser focused on doing just that. I believe that one more draft, and The Lions will get the respect that they are working hard to deserve. One Pride.

Thank you Colin. I was a Raider fan for 40 years and I used to tell my fellow fans the same thing. You can’t overcome anything except bad ownership because nobody can fire him. The final years of Al Davis taught me that. If you’re team has a terrible owner, you’re stuck and all you can hope for is to maybe catch lightning in a bottle for a year or two. The Raiders have made only 6 playoff appearances in 30 years and the ONLY reason they made it in 2021 is because the NFL expanded the schedule

As a die hard Raider fan, Mark is a great example of an apple falling far from the tree. Al was about winning and culture. Mark clearly only cares about money. The move to Vegas was about money. He alienated his fan base with the move, and with those ticket prices, little raider fans are going to home games. Watch Raider games, its mostly tourists and high rollers. Plus the stadium is sterril for the Raiders. The best way i can describe it is that its a great general stadium, but a bad Raider stadium. Because it doesnt fit our identity, and Mark could care less, nor does he care about winning. He just knows that the stadium will draw crowds and money, he sees numbers and dollar signs. The Autumn Wind team title along with the song lyrics dont fit LV, the culture, yhe history. Its a bastardized version. I feel as thpugh someone has pulled out my childhood and stepped on it. Its cool and all its stayed in the family, but Mark has to go.

It's nice ... for ONCE ... to not hear Detroit called out when talking about shaky ownership. The FIRST order of business that started turning things around in Detroit was appointing Sheila Ford Hamp as the principle owner of the Lions in 2020. She decided to give the Quinn-tricia debacle one final year to right their ship (or sink), and she then hired Chris Speilman as her assistant. Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes were hired and an entirely new culture began to grow from this regime.

Davis hiring McDaniels after he was practically booted out of town by the fans of Denver was idiotic. He didn’t even make it through his second season, fired after 10 games it was so bad. He learned nothing from it like he said he did at the press conference where he was introduced as Raiders coach. The best part of this was McDaniels’ pal Dave Ziegler being named GM. They were college buddies and when McDaniels was hired as Denver coach, he got Ziegler to leave his high school guidance counselor job to come work with him in Denver. So in that short span of time since the Denver debacle, high school guidance counselor Dave Ziegler became a GM for an NFL team and Mark Davis signed off on it. You can’t make this up. This is a hopeless franchise and it all starts with Mark Davis.

With Gruden, he was already a Raider and with a 10 year deal he was supposed to build a team over the course of years and build up to be competitive. The first years were rocky but there was always a competitive edge to the Raiders. The 4th year started out great but then everything else happened so Gruden had to step down. McDaniels was brought in because Davis has no idea what to do so he decided to reskin the Patriots which has shown to rarely work out. McDaniels has more struggles than Gruden has and I'm more biased to Gruden because I saw some competitiveness to them. McDaniels has ruined our team and there doesn't seem to be a sign to turn it around.
