Africa in general are poor because of our mindsets, keeping your people poor because of greed and power will backfire this is what you get when people feel they have no access to quality life and social amenities. It’s frustrating to see most of us Nigerians travel everywhere into four Conners of the world searching for greener pastures because our political leaders lacks integrity, love and accountability. I once read at article written by an NGO in North Africa citing Fulani herdsmen issues in Nigeria in 2001 (or so) - a time that the problem didn’t exist yet. It begs the question of whose strategy it was and who is sponsoring it.

    Thanks for this exposition.
    May I also put it out there, being close to an old lecturer and historian, gave me some insights to some of these happenings.
    You know that the Sokoto caliphate could not gain entrance into the Kanem-Borno empire because they were already an empire and have built for themselves a formidable force, a language and an education through the help of Arabians.
    The somewhat desolation of the Borno state today is still in pursuance to that same battle which was fought by Usman Dan-Fodio and lost.
    Islamization of Nigeria is still the agenda. What has distracted them is greed and stark avarice for materialism and power.
    Society is indeed very fragile and what we constantly hear is what tells the direction of the society. After all, my holy book says, “Faith cometh by hearing…”.
    Reason why I am happy with what is happening in the political space of Nigeria right now. A battle of ideology of probity and criminality which of course is in the hands of the judiciary to tell us which will win. And whichever wins, that’s in fact the direction the whole nation will follow and we will have to deal with its attendant ills and blessings. Let’s pray the one that wins will come with more blessings than ill 🙏.
    Thanks again

    Brother! Usman Dan Fodio’s ideology wasn’t the same Muhammad Yusuf’s. Because he wasn’t killing Muslims and he was encouraging education. Your analysis didn’t mention that all the prominent Islamic scholars widely known and respected in the North rejected Muhammad Yusuf’s ideology.
    At this junction, what is your own definition of literacy? Is it only the ability to read and write English? Or the ability to read & write?
    When people talk about illiteracy in the north without mentioning the influence of the colonialist in stylishly defining people who could read, write and communicate their language using Arabic alphabets as illiterates, I find it difficult to comprehend.
    Muslims in the north who had Islamic knowledge were able to read write and communicate using Arabic alphabets before the coming of colonialism.
    Your story of banditry didn’t capture the cries of the Fulani herdsmen on rustling (stealing) of their cattle during Jonathan’s regime and how they started trying to protect themselves and cattle before they escalated to kidnapping every other citizen of Nigeria.

    • @douglasogwola5800
      @douglasogwola5800 Рік тому

      I disagree with the last paragraph of your right up. killing of innocent Nigerians including women and children by herders as well vices like baditry and kidnapping did not just start with Goodlucks administration. Through out the administration of OBJ, Plateau state and the southern part of Kaduna state were and still today, under seige by these same murderous herders whom are practically committing genocide against the indigenous communities. From 2015 till today, they invaded the whole of the North Central states of Nigeria killing people, destroying farms, sacking communities and taking their lands! No farmer or group of farmers from the North Central states of Benue, Nassarawa, kogi, Taraba, Niger nor farmers from the Hausa states of Zamfara and katsina ever contemplated taking up arms to kill, maim, kidnap and terrorise other Nigerians because of terror being done to them by these Fulani herders and terrorists. So, your narrative that the Fulanis took up arms to protect themselves doesn't hold water! What about the rapping and killing of children, young women and the old? Are they also cattle rustlers? I put it to you that, it is pure criminality, terrorism, ethnic cleansing and land grab.
