    It looks like this machine doesn't have any surface mounted caps on board. How refreshing! I guess that might make it good machine to look out for. Cheers for another posting, Dave

      The preamp might have a few. Didn't open it as the video is playing fine.

    I like to watch repairs on things, whether I have owned them or not.
    Edit: the microphone later reminds me of when my ears need popped. Sounds are muffled. That's ok, I can still understand you. 👍

      The lav sounds dead, no atmosphere. The camera mic is stereo so it sounds more natural

    As I saw Dave open the box and the shipping peanuts were shown I knew he would flip out :)

      I lost a cat to a shipping peanut. Years ago, the cat that was in my opening. A shipping peanut was stuck to clothes and was tracked in the house. The cat found it before anyone and ate it. It causes a blockage. Off to the vet and 6000 later for surgery the cat died anyway. So ya i hate the fi*king things.

    if anyone plans on getting this unit , i absolutely recommend ! , it uses the same tape mech that is in any ccd-f and newer ccd-v camcorders , so spares are plenty available .
    the only thing this mech suffers is loose tape guide alighnment , easy fix , use a pre recorded tape play it back and alight the guides until it plays good , then glue the guides in place and u be safe .

    Nice video! I've got a tape of this format, but I think I'll never be able to know what was recorded there... Question: the gears in the cassete box mechanism does not need grease?

    • @Dr.-Smart
      @Dr.-Smart 2 дні тому +1

      its a 50/50 chance the grease is still fine , sometimes its rancid and needs clean

    Working on a Sony CCD-VX1 Pro Hi8 Handycam from 1993. Plays and records fine in video. Camera mode the microphone pickup is weak and I can hear a hiss like wind noise on one channel. Playback audio is fine from a tape recorded on another camera or a movie. When it has rewound a tape the eject symbol flashes and have to eject and reload then its ok again.

    The Lav Mic is a lot quieter. I like the old one, the background noise give the Video a little ambiance .. LOL...
    Diesel soot.. ?

    The larger packing nuts are not so bad. If I get those small nuts I find a large room and a mat empty the pack onto the mat then empty it into a sealed bag.
    Oh well at least it survived the trip.

    Dave, that lav mic is a little less bright . Some of the highs are gone and this leads to not hearing all if the words you're saying. Maybe the wind guard is causing the high freq. clipping.

    The mic setup sounds like you have the condenser stuck in your nose. It's super muffled. Somehow so far, none of these mics beat the mics of your cameras.

      Lav placement is most important. There is a reason tv hosts wear sport jackets or button up shirts. Need that mic placed in the correct place. It was a little high on my collar and it sounded it.

    The audio went quite muffled when you started cleaning the drum

    My god, those little machines look so danm complicated on the inside. I'd be too afraid to do any kind of deep disassembly like that without fear of permanently ruining it.

    the jog should not affect the eject , its bad capacitors in the cpu process area

    • @12voltvids
      @12voltvids  День тому +1

      No it's not. It's a resistive divider divider network for all the buttons. They go into the display cpu / key scan decoder and are encodes as as the standard control s protocol which is the same as remote control data and it's sent down the i2c bus. Those encoder switches get dirty and show resistance which just happened to be the same as the eject switch.
      That's why after flipping it back and forth a few times it fixed it.

      You have never been in a real working shop. I have and every last one was worse then mine. You aren't earning if you are wanting time sweeping the floor. That's for the slow time. When my time is slow I am not in the shop I am doing something else.

      Most of the problems were due to deterioration of the electrolytic capacitors installed.
