- Congratulations to Phil Stendek, 2010 Grand Prize winner and U.S. representative at the BOSS Loop Station World Championship at House of Blues Anaheim on January 14, 2011.
When he was playing drums with his right hand and playing keyboard with his left, that is when I was 100% sold. This guy deserves to be champ. Well done sir.
Perhaps you haven't seen Mr Lantsias who does this for whole concerts backing up a singer sοngwriter: ua-cam.com/video/eh13dZzKhpg/v-deo.html
Neat trick but I thought this was supposed to be a loop competition.
@@rottingcorpse6565 I'm glad my comment got responded to all these years later as I'd forgot all about this performance, still incredible to watch!
I'm glad Roland selects winners based on their musical and compositional ability. The bottom line is the looper is a tool for musicians to help them be solo artists. The skills of a looper has a lot to do with when to add and when to lay back. Music is all about the space between the notes. Having said that, I'm astounded by the skill and precision of other loopers. You're all amazing!
I lost it when he played the keyboard solo while still playing the drums. WTF? True talent.
stevie wonder + tool + reggae + dash of kenny loggins = 1120% awesome. nicely done.
Stevie Wonder did this when he was 12 years old... thats why they namnd him Wonder.. but Stevie didnt have any loop..
And a tad bit of The Police
I'm thinking most everyone went back and watched this a second time, like I did. Great song and performance.
One of, if the not the best musicians I have had the pleasure to know, and a genuinely cool fella!
I've seen almost every Loop Performance on YT this one is the Best!! Solid musician and a great song. Phil could win international
This guy has a true understanding of how to use music and then break the rules to make it more interesting. He deserves to win. His voice is amazing too.
2021 and still listening to this master piece, both lyrics and music are totally dope!!!
"used to be old enough, now we're just older" i felt that
playing drums and doing keyboard solo at the same damn time.. he deserves the grand prize..
Unbelievable. I am new to the whole looping thing and the amount of creativity I'm finding on youtube with these things is nothing short of breath-taking. My hat's off to you Mr. Stendek. The gagas of the world have nothing on you.
Absolutely Fantastic - one man Police band - hairs stood up on back of my neck!! Congrats on your well deserved 1st place!!
I've watched this over ten times. It's just too good.
Booty Crunch same tho
Yeah / Nah!! Not really. Pretty bad actually.
@@brin57 totally agree, this is kinda horrible.
Just a great performance. Multi-instrumental, vocals, and looping.... tough to beat! Very inspiring! Thank you!!
I don't get tired of watching this video...
100% talent, plus another 10% mad skills
In a very, very positive way, it's like a very mellow, hallucination of Tool
I agree
I watched this around 4 to 5 times and i still cant believe it
its awesom!
Damn man that was really well done. And coming from a musician that is into looping I know how hard it is to pull off just with a guitar and looper let alone playing drums, keys, bass, guitar and vocals on top of it. Well done!
Dude! Dude! you rocked it. Great talent and co-ordination.
Phil performed every week at 1839 Taphouse in my town for the last to months and had great shows. Great entertainer! Can't wait for the new album Phil!
You are definately the best juggler I've seen on a looper. You do see some pretty good tap dancers cuttin footloose but it's the little things like resting the drumstick behind the keyboard keys and drumming one handed while reaching for your twanger
the most talented guy i have ever seen..in my life ..smooth ,natural, seamless.the timing vocals and music are one..even after his high hat stopped working! in between all that he still had time to try to tighten that wingnut..hats off to you Phil..and i thank you..i learned so much watching your videos
hes great but checkout bernhoft theres no one better with the loopstation
you obviously havent seen many talented people if he is the most you have ever seen...its ok nothing amazing
@@aaronberry4245 oh here we have the usual octo alike pessimist lifeless depressed sHitestain gttfo go punch a german bunker and break your fists noob
@@wtebgvwerw yea man cool story
@@aaronberry4245 ffuck you
dude crazy good. Love the beat and the key boards at the same time. Unreal...
that was awesome. great song too.
This guy knows how to put a song together with the looping seamlessly!
At 3:24 it all made sense, haha.
This guy deserved to win. Keyboards and Drums at the same time?
Talent...
Great job in using that looper. Really appreciate this.
Very honest AND humble of you!
I love this song, all my friends called me crazy when I started playing the organ and the drumset while singing, but now whos crazy! I need to get one of those loop stations though
Did you ever get one? I just got a Dittox4 and I love it.
Wich song it is?
He killed it with that synth part just before the end.
Amazing playing dude - impressive
wow THATS AMAZING.One Man Band in the truest sense!
Great playing all around, and great lyrics by the way. Inspiring all around. Yay!
Can't wait to buy my own Boss loop station... this is awesome.
Very talented guy, also very skilful , i am very impressed .
Many years ago at Sally T's in St. Peters, MO he opened for my band. That happened but once. From there on out we opened for him per my request. I never wanted to follow him on stage again.
You so funny! I hope all is well bro!
saltvisionmusic I was thinking the whole time while watching this video...”If I was a musician I would never want to follow him. I would leave my equipment packed and go sit and watch him perform.”
Fuckin' incredible, dude! Your ingenuity is off the charts. Thank you.
Congrats Phil from everybody in SaltVision. You deserve it.
this guy is ridiculously coordinated! congrats bro!!!
I really love it!!! awesome!!!
Awesome Loop. Mad props to you !
That is a unique looping demo, well done!
Im proud to be the guy to see him live at my school :)
I wish they'd properly mic'd up his drum kit, or even put just one mic on the kick, then you'd really get the feel of this song!
hard working performer. great job
Holy $hit... Roland has enabled comments for a video & now I see why! This guy is insane! That's a complex beat & did it in one take... Trent Rezner would be impressed and worried by this guy.
Currently considering suing this guy. He has cost me so much money. After watching this video so many times, I started buying gear. Gear. Gear. Gear. Got my roland TD25 electronic kit. Got the Boss RC500 loop station and FS7 to expand it. Novation Midi keyboard. Scarlett 2i2. Computer. Ableton Live. Amplification and other sound gear. Toys toys toys. Guitars. Why did you have to be so good Phil Standek????? Look what you’ve done to me???? I bought the gear. Now where can I buy the talent? This your your fault Phil!!!!!! But seriously, this video made me want to start looping so bad. I started with an RC3. Moved to a 30. Then the 500. Gotta say Boss knocked it out of the park with the RC500. Its so good. It’s more pedal than I need right now. But I hope my talent will eventually catch up to the power of the pedal. It is such a powerful tool. Maybe too much power for one mortal man to behold. Proof that Phil Standek is an immortal being. Side note: you can connect two RC500s together via a midi cable and create a mega-500. I can’t wait to try it. Boss thought of everything. I wanted to get an older pedal called Boomerang. It is amazing and not too expensive. But lacked a few key features. I decided to spend the extra money on the 500. I was worried I would regret it. So far: no regrets. Im pleased as can be. I think Boss owes me some free gear for sitting here advertising their toys. Lol
Que tal músico... Excelente coordinación.
great song, great playing, very tasteful, musical looping conception.
Everything about that was awesome. Great job!
Certainly brings a new meaning to one man bands
Andrew Bird is a fine musician, but that doesn't take anything away from Stendek, who integrates vocals, keyboards, bass, guitar, drums, and a variety of other instruments into his loops. Not to mention that he's a great guy, and a lot of FUN to see live.
I've played keys and drums at the same time and it is more challenging than it looks. To have all of that other stuff going on as well.....dammit! I need to go practice! This is really, really good.
awesome improb! he earn to be the winner.
Speaking as a looping artist myself - this is brilliant. And difficult! Four loopers? My hat is off to you!
omg that was amazing
my favorite one
Awesome dude. Love it.
Just now found about about loop competitions...I feel ashamed I didnt know 🤩
very nice job... great song
wow that is extremely hard to do anybody who plays an instrument knows drumming, singing, playing the piano wow his mind is out of this world!!!
Fantastic. Really empressed.
WTF... INCREDIBLE...
This song is great !
Great Loop Music!
Nice stuff from Mr Stendeck. I used the RC50 for a long time playing solo shows and I got addicted to loops. However i believe there is nothing better than the RC50. I am now doing biological music.
very creative and talented person...
Guy really rocks. Oozes skill & talent. Cool AF. Sure, produced vocals would add to a polished too; in context he was showing us and judges raw talent
thnx for the inspiration
Just spent 2 minutes looking around my room for "that weird rattling noise", thought I had it narrowed down to a faulty electrical problem until I realised it was coming from this video.... UA-cam doesn't even output to 5.1 but I could swear the noise comes from behind me....
Holy shit... this guy is awesome!
Thanks, good video, good music, i like.. un abrazo desde uruguay
Tatita
you're the man!!!
makes me wish i could sing.. he's talented as a multi-instrumentalist and composer.
"all men are created equal"
Yeah, right!
Well done!
awesome.. so u're the best
Damn, man. That was good.
This is awesome!
Superb Musicianship 100% perfect!
that was so dope.
Deserved that f***in' price 1000%...i'm veeery impressed...great Song&lyrix...awesome performance...(as if he had made the final warning before that shit in Japan happened!)
...The RC50 has made Musicians dreams come true and i love that!
The best part is that I actually like the song. The looping may not be perfect but at least its interesting to listen to.
A música é um dom natural dado por Deus.Usando este dom, agregado a tanta tecnologia o homem se diverte e alegra os que o ouvem... parabéns BOSS.
How can we live in a time when a man puts so much effort into his art and they leave the vocals dry? We have Roland a leading music tech company and the recording is so under par. Is it just me that notices this stuff?
Have you thought that perhaps he WANTS his vocals dry? Not everyone wants processing as you see as standard or is it required. The overall affect was achieved...and guess what. He still one and I'm sure Phil's not beating himself up for telling the sound personal to make sure his vocals are exactly how he wanted it.
is that the sound he wanted....id doubt it but you wouldnt know...its all very JBT
Aaron I also do know from doing years of Sound that the outboard sound for a video feed tends to be second in priority to how it’s perceived in the room and one tends to prioritize the tools at hand to cater to the live audience present and unless you have a secondary crew/assistant to focus strictly on the video feed it’s very hard to balance the two roles.
@@honoriusgulmatico6073 hey man i totally get what your saying this was created those there not specifically us on youtube
what sort of stuff have you produced or is it all live stuff
His vocals are better live. I once watched him loop for damn near 3 hours straight and vocals were fine.
The original submission video captures this song FAR better...
I know. This version was so full of mistakes.
Saw this dude playing at a bar at the Lake of the Ozarks. He was awesome, He was doing a bunch of mashups of popular stuff, and original stuff. He even did a cover of Rebecca Black's Friday for shits and giggles.
It's interesting that he plays guitar left handed, but drums right handed! Really cool to see someone who performs like he does i.e: Playing the synth and drums at the same time at the end. Most loop artists just layre sounds, but he literally does everything at the same time!
Amazing!!
Nuclear fusion. A death in the family. No shortage of lawyers. But few of them answer me. *insert jam* We hide in the suburbs. Escaping from culture. Sleep through the downfall. Yet fight like a soldier. Used to be old enough. Now you're just older. Nuclear fusion. The trains are all black. We know where we're going. There's no going back; there's no going back. *insert solo*
Thank you so much for this! Quite helpful for us non-native English speakers
Just Awesome
MAD SKILLS!
That was very cool.
Unreal!
WOW Awesome!
Sensacional!!!
Dozen loops and he still has time to fix the hi-hat clutch 2:55
IMPRESIONANTE MAESTRIA Y GUSTO MUSICAL...........
waw.. j'adore ce mec.
The best!
Nuclear Fusion!!! This tune gets me vibing oh man
