Congratulations on a hard won victory! What a beautifully made video. I FELT your pain when you landed wrong. Your utter defeat at one aid station, followed by joking about the floral water bottle at the next, really showed the cycle of ultras... "it never always gets worse". Great job to HotWife for getting you back out there when you didn't think you could.
Thank you so much Kelly, that means a lot! I literally could not have done this race without my wife! I’m glad you could feel the emotion of the video!
Congrats on an incredible achievement. To run 70 miles on a technical course with significant vert after injury and training 25-30 miles is inspirational. Kudos to Val for keeping you "on course". Well done, Steven!
Hey Steven, I finally watched this video a couple of years late. Congratulations on the finish, especially with all the suffering you had. I found the video, because I’m thinking of registering for the 70 miler in June.
So inspirational Steven! I’m running the Highland Fling Ultra in Scotland this Saturday untrained so as you say aid station to aid station. Love your content, pls keep making videos
I found your video doing some backpacking research on the LHHT. Congratulations 🎉I really enjoyed your video, it made me so emotional 😊 this is an amazing accomplishment!!
Those lows are some of the worst times a person can experience but those highs always make up for it. Crossing that finish line after a tough race is like nothing else in this world. Way to gut it out man and that’s one beautiful course!
So much greenery! Some injuries take a loooong time. My shoulder is still healing from last November’s fracture. Really enjoyed all the coverage. Race support is so crucial. Valan has years of experience and she perfected it for this race!
dude great work, watched vids at first for coros stuff,, but youre way of approaching has helped kick in a lot of inspiration on my trail adventures. right on Steve
Great job once again! That was hard fought for sure. Well done. Way to battle it out to the end. Thanks for taking us along for the highs and the lows. (also love the music when in the chair - well done).
Thank you, Sage! I will never sugar coat ultra running to make it look easy; the best stories are the ones with raw truths and emotion. Thanks for watching!
What a big run! This is huge! And big elevation gain by mile 20, with another 50 to go. But you did it, you finished, and accomplished something so amazing! A great example for something that I might do one day too.
Hi Steve. I did a solo run on this trail a few years ago (only 50k though!) and it was SO BEAUTIFUL. Thinking about this one for next year. What was your elevation gain over the course? Great video!

Thank you so much! I am glad you enjoyed it, and best of luck on your hiking trip!
Great effort and video! Some of those sections early on reminded me of FHSP Chimney Top trail.
Yeah it was steep in places! Thanks for watching!

Thanks, Mike! You are so right! The lows suck, but the highs are great! Just have to remember there will likely be both
Great quality and great work! Keep on brother🤟
Thank you 🙌 I appreciate it!
Good luck on your race this weekend!
Congrats! Nice job gutting through and pushing down the doubt! Just shows how important a good crew can be for ultra races.
Thank you, Shawn! Yes a good support crew can be crucial!
Great work!! Really appreciate the video as well!
Thank you so much!
So much greenery!
Some injuries take a loooong time. My shoulder is still healing from last November’s fracture.
Really enjoyed all the coverage.
Race support is so crucial. Valan has years of experience and she perfected it for this race!
It really was so green and beautiful! Thank you, Mandy! I agree totally; I could not finish this race without my wife!
She had a race support PR!

Totally agree; constant focus! Thanks!

Absolutely loved the intro. It’s awesome to watch your filmmaking skills progress. The thumbnail is also awesome. 😉
Haha thanks man. I appreciate the feedback on the thumb!
It looks like a really nice trail to run and/or hike on. The vistas and views sure look nice. Great job
It was beautiful! Thanks!

Inspirational stuff Steven. Thank you for showing us a honest look into ultra racing.
Thank you, Sage! I will never sugar coat ultra running to make it look easy; the best stories are the ones with raw truths and emotion. Thanks for watching!

Thank you, Chad! You can do it man!
Well done mate. It looked like a beautiful course, but the pain cave is definitely real with so few miles in training. Good mental training at least.
Thank you! Had I been able to train like I wanted, I think I could have done sub 15 hour.
@@UltraTrailStevenhow much training did you actually do? 17hrs is pretty decent
@@robertIvan-dev Not a lot the 6-8 weeks leading up to it cause of my ankle. However, I had a good base of 45ish MPW, with decent vert too
See some WV runners in there! I was supposed to come pace one, but plans got changed unfortunately
Yeah I talked to quite a few from WV.
Hi Steve. I did a solo run on this trail a few years ago (only 50k though!) and it was SO BEAUTIFUL. Thinking about this one for next year. What was your elevation gain over the course?
Great video!
Do it! It was so beautiful! Elevation gain was 11,398', over 66.88 miles. My watch read a bit short I guess.
Looking forward for your response
