Neddy The Noodles video on Ark lore is SPECTACULAR. Definitely hold off until you finish all the official maps, but he definitely put a lot of work into that video and its incredible ❤
Alternatively- he did great breakdowns on each story map individually as well. The total lore video is well done, but no reason not to watch the Island specific one upon completion of this map
Get slot capped in a matter of minutes if you're not used stacking mods. Love that tame. Just wish it was a little tankier. Damn Eurypterids seem to do so much damage to them lol.
You always want to bring 2 gas mask minimum into swamp cave, and *DO NOT WEAR ANY OTHER ARMOR* the arthos (centipede) spit can't damage just the mask because it has no armor. The second you put other armor they one shot your mask and you're fubar.
@DarkDarcek removes the possibility sometimes they spawn in walls or the roof. You won't take damage on mount so your armors pointless. Until you dismount for drops
Hey butch it’s my birthday today and waking up to your video was the best present I could have gotten, I have been loving your videos recently, you’ve become one of my favorite UA-camrs to watch since you’ve started ark. I hope you are doing well cause I’m doing great!
One day I decided I was going to look for a new Ark playthrough, as it's probably my favorite game but I lost my fire to play it due to a fairly rough time with the community, and ASA was out and I thought maybe some new players would be brought in by a more polished version of the game, and right at the top of my search I saw your very first episode, only an hour old, and I was hooked, I've watched all your Subnautica Series and have been following along with this playthrough, it truly makes my day, the last month has been a hard one for me and my life has been changing rapidly, but knowing I would get to experience this adventure with you has been one of the most calming constants in my life and I just want to thank you, there's a good chance you don't see this, and that's okay, I just want to say that you're so appreciated and I can't wait to see how this story unfolds, keep up the great work and don't forget to Save the Game
Pro tip on the gas mask and the poison cave you're going to enter: DO NOT wear anything except the mask itself. The Arthropulera will destroy your clothes, but for whatever reason, if you only wear the mask, they can not destroy it.
@@ToxicChaos i've been Batman-ing with the grappling hook stuck to the ceiling while i get head shots with guns and whatnot. It's just that between the polar bears and yetis, they take so much damage to kill. Today should be the last trip in, if i'm lucky.

Fishing is genuinely one of my favourite Things to do in ARK. However, it becomes 10x more fun when you have a 300%+ Fishing Rod. Fish for Blueprints, Iron, Obsidian and other Miscellaneous Items is so fun 😊😊😊
Yeah man, Silica pearls used to actually shimmer at night in the original Ark, they're certainly more subtle and harder to notice in ascended. If you craft up an Industrial grinder though, you can grind down anything you find in drops and can end up with more electronics and whatnot than you'll ever really need, so hunting for them can become unnecessary after a while.
With the pull-mod you can instantly pull all the required materials for a blueprint if you're in range and have all the things. You can also specify how many you want to build and you can pull to repair things. To use the function you select a blueprint, you type in how many you want to build in the field in the top left/right and press the button with a square and arrows in it, if you want to repair you press the one with the tools on it after selecting something to repair.
just a tip, you can turn your organic polymer into soap and store it indefinitely, as soap doesn't spoil. then you can deconstruct it back to organic polymer in a grinder
When you eventually go into the redwoods cave, take a baryonyx. There is no rideable Dino that can get into EVERY part of the cave, but the baryonyx can get into every part of the cave you NEED to be for the artifact and even some optional rooms for loot. The artifact can be difficult to find but you need to look for a small tunnel going up. It has an explorer note at the beginning.
woo hoo, it's patch time once again, no more invisible poops!: Fixed an issue causing poop to visually disappear on the ground. Even better: Fixed a bug where Single Player would fail to save.
Concept of ARK evolves around dinos and their levels. Each dino has a purpose, think of them more as tools. Now a hammer you wont use for something you need a screwdriver and vice versa. The higher the level of the dino , the more usfull it becomes, the better the results of its purpose materialize. Like anything pearls have its dino called an Angler fish. Using that you would gather hundreds of pearls in a short time. But then we have your fear of the Ocean. And using an Angler is not without its risks especially since its a vulnerable tame and you need to take it to the ocean floor to collect most pearls, though you can use it as well in the shallows..to less effect.
I'd like to make a non-spoiler suggestion if I may.. Inventory management, PLEASE sort your inventory alphabetically... it makes finding what you have SO much faster! :D Loving the videos!
You can use a full set of scuba gear for the swamp cave. Just make sure to bring multiples because the arthropluras (the giant centipede things) will break your armor
Just a tip the babys will always be a combination of the stats the parents had at tame. hence your 12k food stat being transferred from the parent. There is small chance you can get a mutation on a single stat but the highest melee or health you get will be identical to one of the parent's base stats otherwise.
Make a grinder, and grind all that loot. You might get all you need for every crafting station. And I look forward to a tumbnail with a smile. Good luck 😊 and have fun in the game
It's not cheating to make the game accessible. In the console, there's a command, r.fog that makes the murky ocean clearer. It's also great for saving your FPS. Take a look, you'll likely want that when it's time to take a swim.
Here are my notes for this episode. 1. While I think your definitions for met are a bit loose I do agree. 2. Single celled organisms did not have sex, that would be impossible. They duplicated (And still do duplicate) themselves, and the small mutations that happened when they did so led to the rest of life. 3. If you watch Neddythenoodle's lore videos, I highly recommend starting by watching all of the reading and acting out of explorer notes for the island, starting with Helena's then doing either Rockwell's or Meiying's then doing the rest for the ones on the island. I would highly recommend that if you are planning to play the other maps (Which I highly recommend that you do, they are all very unique and each is better than the last. Though playing them in order is important) not to watch either his general ark lore videos or explorer note re-enactments from the other maps, until after playing them. 4. For collecting silica pearls, I would highly recommend taming an Otter. 5. If you can manage the oceans of Subnautica, then you can definitely manage the ones of ARK. Subnautica was made to trigger thalassophobia, Arks are nothing in comparison. And if you are with a good tame and avoid Jellyfish, then they are typically pretty easy. 6. Something(s) that I forgot. 7. I'd personally recommend using a Thyla.
You looked right at another cave entrance in the northwest area of the snow biome. You also flew right by the hardest cave on the map when you were getting pearls.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Go into the swamp cave wearing only a mask. If the arthropleura (giant centipede) shoots you with acid and you're wearing armor, it will break your gas mask. If you're only wearing a mask, then the acid won't break it.
In my last ark Playthrough I had my base exactly where you gathered those pearls. Its a nice base spot... pearls directly under the ice shelfs, metal and obsidian on the mountain, an obelisk right next to you and a cave with great loot if you can run it (thats a big IF... its one of the hardest caves!). The Ice looks strange without a base on it!
Not sure if Butch wants to modify such but setting shadows to low makes underwater much more accessible, it basically removes all the fogginess and let you see everything.
Tame a dung beetle in one of the caves. Feed it poop and get oil. Also, be careful of Arthropluera in the caves with the mask. If they spit on you it will break the mask. Love the videos keep it up!
In case you want to go trilobite hunting again in the future: trilobites spawn on beaches in the morning hours specifically, and I believe they wander into the ocean later in the day. A diplocaulus (not to be confused with a diplodocus) is especially good at harvesting trilobites
No worries about missing the Silica Pearls at first, Butch. In ASE, they had a very strong glow and could be seen from miles. Now in ASA, they are MUCH harder to see, even if you know what you're looking for
Very important info for the gas mask and scuba tank, it uses the duration as the durability, so getting hit and taking damage will deplete the durability, therefore the oxygen and gas filter duration massively
Pearls spawn on top of ice/snow up against the cliffs on the northern snowy zone border. So fly along the water and look on top of the ice patches and snow. You can get 8-10 harvests and it is easy to do every now and then to keep a stock of pearls. Great video as always!
If you can tame the Snail (Achatina) they will reduce the spoil timer on organic polymer. They'll also produce small amounts of organic polymer and their own version of cement paste.
There is a cave underwater ( you will need a mount for it ) but it will give you all the pearls you need... and don't worry.. nothing bad the deeper you go... only a few eels but if you let them get close enough they won't even hurt you... Actually really chill down in the deepest bit of the ocean 😏
CAVE TIP- Don’t wear armor with the gas mask. I know it sounds counter productive but bare with me. The Arthros in the cave can one shot your armor with acid spit and if your armor breaks so will your gas mask. My apologies for not being subbed until now. Honest mistake I thought I was.
The more important reason to bring multiple gasmasks is the arthroplueras (giant centipedes). The venom they spit destroys your armor, including gasmasks. I'd bring at least 5 if I were you.
You need to tame a basilosaur and a dunkleosteos if you want to get the pearls on the bottom of the ocean if you want to live. They are strong enough to kill most things in the ocean
I think you got this cave ez pz. Your barry is more than fine, fill it with fish, and you're well equiped enough. Kill everything. PRO TIP! When you see an athro(centipede), run to it before it aggros to face tank its melee attacks. You dont want it to spit acid (which it only does from range) and break your mask with a one-shot. But if you take enough masks you'll be fine. Lastly for the umpteenth time, health brews in the cooking pot! Health pots are a video game staple haha
I’ll be caught up soon. I just want to hint that you should get sarcos and 2 basilosaurus. Then remember that 2 is one and one is none. Get 4 basilosaurus’. You will be set for deep water by augmenting with other aquatic animals. The Barry however you might find slow. It’s powerful in water as a fighter but slow.still you want it to clear the mantas off the basilosaurus.

@ButchX3 Go in with the Bary. You'll get bombed with loads of flying bugs, don't panic and just keep backing up and biting :)
Man i love the snow.
Haha Background-Butch totally got my with the pearls :D
Now that you did all that... You can wear your scuba suit in the cave for protection 😉
Oh and those clams light up at night so are super easy to find.
Wait for the big ice cave butch you will love that one, I used to live in there with my tribe and I still get lost in there hahaha
if you have to go to that cave tame a frog and go with that because it is the best animal to bring to that particular cave and it also has advantages
About the chem bench, you can craft all the stuff from the mortar and pestle but you get more per craft for less resources
I want to see Butch's reaction watching "Around the world on one breath"
If I remember correctly you can use the scuba tank in liu of the gasmask in the caves with posion fog in them
I’ll be caught up soon.
13:09 Butch use your han- BUTCH HANDS! BUTTCCHH…… RAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHHH
I love ya butch and I know narrator butch was talking about it but my god that caused me some physical trauma lol
You should try and tame a rhyniognatha it’s a really helpful tame you can do a lot more things with it than with an argentavis
I love the playthrough without spoilers other than a few “cheeky googles”. However, after the end it would be super interesting to see your reactions to some Syntac or Raasclark videos seeing them do some things that were a struggle for you
You should continue at crafting al the new industrial structures that’s a really huge progress and you should craft a industrial grinder in the future you will later realise how useful that is
Chem bench is great, but you don't need gas mask to do that cave. Scuba mssk and tank with ghillie boots, gloves and trousers will protect you.
Take frog in the cave. It will benefit you greatly and its the best for the cave your going in
….he passed by all those pearls, had me screaming at the screen to put his tools away 😅 the anxiety
Seeing him stab the silica pearls instead of gathering them hurt my soul
You can use scuba tank in that cave instead of gas mask. Take gas mask as back up though.
Industrial age is going to be a game changer... literally
I know right? I was blown away on my second single player playthrough when I actually went through the effort to craft them.
I have to mentally prepare myself to watch you go into another cave...on the flipside: I'm all caught up to your ARK videos. Woohoo!!
Use the pull buttons above the inventories after selecting a blueprint or engram.
One 'F' and double 'S' 😉! Keep doing what you do! Love the time spent watching your vids.
A little hint, if you like: You can also enter the Redwood cave (poisonous one) with about two or three full sets of SCUBA gear.
There are a couple of underwater artifact caves. There are also a ton of resource caves full of oil and silica underwater as well.
