I notice you keep worrying when you fall off cliffs on your tames so thought I'd let you in on a tip. If you dismount your tame before you hit the ground it stops your tame taking fall damage as tamed Dino's don't take fall damage as long as there not being ridden 👍🏼👍🏼 keep it up mate love your videos

The tek cave is being loaded in when you get close to volcano (great job ark devs). Thats what makes supply drops disappear sometimes there. Hilarious you were talking about the tek cave as it happened!
Yeah when he was saying wasn't sure 'east of volcano' the cave is I was murmuring as soon as you get close there will be a lag spike. Great spot for a base a bit north. Volcano for metal, crystal, obsidian and cave right there for chitin.

You're right it does take real life days for some creatures....I had to time sleep schedules with my tribe mates so that one of us will be active while taming or imprinting and I absolutely hated it cuz why tf do we need to waste that much time
Yes, not only it does take up to 11 days to fully grow a specific creature, it also took YEARS of the entire communities breeding creatures to get the ultimate optimized top stats of several creatures, with zeroed non-useful stats (stamina, oxygen, etc) and maxed useful stats (weight, damage, health, etc) - depending on the use of the creature- .
Yeah I normally have the belief that every playstyle is valid but if you play with official rates you need to go outside

Hey Butch, you’ve told earlier that you heard that you need to do the caves multiple times. This is only the case if you want to do all difficulty levels of bosses. For your first playthrough it’s not recommended to jump to the hardest difficulty and its generally a better idea to first do everything on easy and then evaluate if you want to do medium and hard. Note that hard REQUIRES imprinting for every Dino and high tier saddles.
The panic spamming of 4 instead of 3 is hilarious.
Keep raw fish on your bary for rapid heals. Also pump melee aswell. The faster you kill the less hits you take.
Cave loot is significantly better than surface drops always kill everything in the area and loot.
Just look how far everything has come, man I am proud. Glad I get to see this adventure unfold. One step closer, here is to many more episodes.
Hey Butch, feel asleep 1 night while watching you tube and woke up to 1 of ur videos of subnautica, from which ever video that was i kept watching them till you built that space ship n beat the game. It was a breath of fresh air seeing someone be genuine and original so ofcourse i subbed and was interested in future content. Now when i seen that you went into ark, ( a game which ive been hooked on ever since its pre beta days when it was first introduced) i was truly interested in how u was gonna take to it. Fast forward to now, ive been going through a pretty crazy part in my life and honestly everytime i sit down and load up my xbox and turn on youtube, your videos really help me escape and have me cracking up. Sorry for the long comment but thanks alot for being you.

hey you finally encountered a megalosaurus, legit one of my favorites. its honestly a very cool fun one though it does have a nasty downside of bein heavily nocturnal, to the extent that during the day sleeps nonstop and gets a huge debuff to its stats but at night its amazing
Then you'll LOVE Aberation. They're always awake. I loved using them to get Rock drake eggs. I would take a group down and have them follow the only mega on passive. That way if they run off chasing something, they always return.
@@givaFlyingFiggz i honestly hated aberation lol its cool its always night so megalosaurus are always active but theres sooo many down sides to the map, one of which bein that very detail that its always night.
megalosaurus is the only perk to eternal night really, reapers too ofc but reapers were literally made to be the kings of that map, but that aside night is the worst time of the game cause of the terrible visibility and aberation is all night all the time plus thats around the point wildycard started really gettin into their anti flier kick and made it a no flier map and designed the map so that even with a flier it would still be hard to traverse in most places not to mention most of the best places for a base aesthetically are horrible places for bases cause of the darkness callin constant nameless unless you got a constant glowpet.
all around i legit hated aberation in almost every way, to me the only good thing about it was the creatures we got from it, my personal faves bein glowtails, rock drakes, and ravegers in that order
The most caves arent too much of a pain with well imprinted dinos. Though there are 2 caves in a *colder* region that are a nightmares because of multiple reasons. Be warned theyre the last ones you want to visit
The massive theropod in the cave was a megalosaurus. Think compact, furry, cave rex. It sleeps during the day so if it's day time you'll find them curled up like a cat and snoozing. Kinda cute, but its eyes glow and you mostly find them in caves. They have scary abilities and they're weaker during the day, but they're crazy cool tames.
Do they spawn outside of caves?
I have only seen them out in the wild in Aberration..
@@BrutalSkorpio I've practically stepped on them sleeping under the trees on the surface. Not sure where though and that was Ark Evolved, not Ascended. It was on unofficial servers too so maybe they didn't normally show on the surface like that.
Leather armor can be repaired in your inventory! works great for caves like this
This is always my strat for caves! It's a big save for arthros rather than losing all your good armor and being screwed. Especially if using a saber, since they get a ton of hide.

Messing about in the redwoods on foot in the dark is ringing the dinner bell for troodons.
They're evil little gremlins when the sun goes down. Even if you had gotten back on your dino, you would have passed out, and they would have caught you again and bit you to death.
Also, the troodons have been nerfed.
They used to be much worse.
Tip for the lava caves ....take building mats ie: wood thatch and fiber to make bridges over the lava ;)
That 150 theri will give you significant progress towards end game, it's still in that area somewhere.

I love your Ark series. I know you try very hard to do things organically and not look things up.
I understand this completely. That being said, there is enough heartbreak in Ark knowing what you are going, not knowing is 10x fold.
I say all this to urge you to find a balance for Ark. For your own long-term sanity. Keep up the good work!
Also it's a waste to bring a weapon into swamp cave, have faith in your barry, just go in bare naked, no armor, a couple of gas masks, bring some food water and healing potions and you'll be fine, the only things you really have to worry about is watching your health when Aurth centipede spit at you, killing leeches, and making absolutely certain the area is clear before you jump off to loot a Loot Crate.
My advice is stay on a dino as much as you can. When getting drops hit the transfer all button in the inventory and get gone quick. No need to read through the items until you are safe. Aside from the rider bonus, the imprint also raised the base stats. Look at the stats before and after imprint before leveling, and yes with online 1x rates to raise a carcha it takes 2 days to hatch and 10 days to raise. It creates an entire in game economy.
There is a cave on an island in the middle of the swamp east of you that is easy. The REALLY hard caves are in the north and the underwater caves might be a struggle for you.
Also, reduce all your crafting inventory down to folder view. This will help you peruse things you might find interesting by making the lists more manageable. Especially in the fabricator.
Honestly the hardest part of the underwater caves isnt even the massive creatures, its having the balls to even go in arks ocean in the first place
That east coast cave (lava cave) is easy with the Bary if you take your time. Kill, heal, move, repeat. You have no patients.
This game has never been about reaching the current objective, you will always reach the next objective. This game is all about how good you are at retrieving your bag along the way. Stay strong 😊

You get imprinted stat boosts. You only get the Rider Buff if you get 100% imprint and are riding. Imprinting still increases stats either way.

Clauses have an attack that can damage and kill the player right off the back of a tame. Careful taming one while riding.

Nearly directly north of your present base location on the north side of the Redwoods river is a spot up on the Bluffs that is my absolute most favorite spot on the entire map.
If you moved up there you would have three drops within walking distance of your base, beaver spawn nearby for cement paste, and tons of dino spawn below for taming and meat runs. 59, 25 coords
I watched your Subnautica series, then I stumbled upon this and realized it's you... subscribed immediately. You are doing so well now. Love how you are handling the barry with the back-and-forth style attacks in the cave. They are also an EXCELLENT water mount as they don't drown and have a spin attack in the water capable of stunning a shark. The lava cave? I hate that one too, even if you follow the right path before the platforming (easier route). For me, in my opinion, the worst is not the main ice cave, it's the underwater East cave, no such thing as over preparing for that one. The thing that I like best about your series that really stands you apart from all other gamers, is your added voice over narration.

drops around vulcano disappearing is known glitch... it supposed to be only visual one,but i never checked if it's really there..
I've gotten an invisible one before they are there
I collected invisible drops at the vulcano.
Mark it with a pingand you can finish going to it when it dissappears and get it. Its only visually gone.

butch you should add some stone pillars as frame for your house, it really helps make it look like a house and not a large cardboard box
Butch great video! That was EPIC. Doing you're naked cave runs first to get the lay of the land and then going in methodically with Bred and Imprinted Dino killing everything one at a time... calculated and professional! Very satisfying to watch you absolutely DOMINATE that cave.

By the way, for the Lava Cave just use a grapplin hook, I promise this will be a piece of cake.
Great job and another fab video! You have made a huge leap with your progression and abilities - keep at it! You could probably do a Boss Fight now but don't rush into it.. Todays video proves just how the right dino - well raised - it key ..so concentrate on raising your army,

remember to place like 33 feeding stations
the swamp cave (use gas masks), that one near the volcano, and the two central caves south of the redwoods (bring a scuba tank) are all easiest done riding in on a single levelled-up bary using a good saddle. Imprinting is a huge help, but aim for 10K health and 500-600% melee stats and you're golden, just keep some raw fish in it for healing. If you grab a high-level dimorph to ride on your shoulder (disable it's weight as it counts against you and bary) and level it up to lots of melee it will also add attacks from your shoulder, especially to bats. Paired with a good pump shotgun and good leather armor (you can repair in your inventory with hide and fiber) you can run these four caves every day. The cave loot drops, regardless of color, are always worth checking. Got 4 ascendant saddle BPs out of the first two runs of them, including a rex BP with 176 armor. That's critical for boss fights.
Butch love your series, seeing you make your way though it has been the highlight of my evenings when you post a video. that said...gotta learn to Grab & Dash when drop hunting don't look at whats in the "box" on the ground, do it from the safty of the air after grabbing everything...after all trash items can be dropped.

Love the vids, huge fan, but Butch I desperately need you to know that two of my cats LOVED this video. I was watching it on my big TV and they both sat down in front of the tv and watched the entire thing. I could see them turning their heads to follow the action on screen. Their little ears kept swiveling when you talked. They have never sat down and watched an almost hour long video before.

Regarding the green drop on the volcano: its a glitch. Go by sound. When you hear the cave sound, all drops on the volcano will disappear. Fly out until you stop hearing the cave ambiance and when they pop up again and try to blindly land near it is and search until you can (E) the drop. Can be annoying 😅
You're right that those 30% buffs are only applied when you're riding the dino but imprinted creatures still get a stat boost even when unridden; you should look at their stats before and after imprinting to see the effect. Riding an imprinted creature means you get the 30% damage and defense on top of the stat increase.

Good job. The imprint is very good but the saddle really makes the difference. With this saddle your dino only gets arounf 20% of the damage and thats really op.
To clarify, the rider buff for 30% damage output and resistance only applies to the one you're riding, true. But the imprinting does more than just give that bonus. If you check the stats of your dinos before you do the imprint and check them after, you'll see that they get static stat increases to each health, stamina, weight and melee. Those are there whether you're riding them or not, so it's still beneficial to imprinting dinos that you're going to be taking into boss fights as it's like having an additional (I believe...) 3 level boosts PER stat line that you don't have to put in later. So when you are leveling them, you can get those numbers even higher. And Butch... you're going to want all the help you can get for the bosses. If I were to venture a guess and say you'll probably try to go the gamma route as it's your first time through and ascend off of gamma level tek cave. Nothing wrong with that, in fact I'd recommend it. The first boss of the game is one that you've already qualified for technically. You should have all the artifacts to do it. But You don't have the dinos for it. There's a particular dino in the game that is an absolute beast for that boss, but high level health and melee rexes, imprinted and preferably with good quality saddles and you should be just fine. There's another dino that I think you've only come across once that is an absolute god send for bosses, won't spoil it. but it is primarily found in the cold areas of the game. You got lucky when you found it the first time as you were on the border between cold and not and it had wandered over before you had checked out some ruins. Definitely gonna want to have a look at trying to catch one of those things and playing around with it's mechanics.
Peace and love, Personally I think this is the easiest cave in the game as there's no spots (atleast none that im aware of), that you can insta die from, glitch death, or ya know, LAVA. Just high level creatures inside. A Good Bary makes light work of nearly every cave in the game (2 come to mind that it doesn't). Glad you got through this one unscathed. I saw the title and not gonna lie, I was 1) hoping it was this cave and 2) Really hoped that you didn't die because I absolutely love this series!
The megalosaurus you encountered in the cave could have drastically changed the outcome of this video. They are like a tiny rex except they can grab you off your dino like a kapro and chew you to death. On one of the expansion maps coming to ASA called aberration, they are one of the best tames.

As far as I’m aware megalosaurus have always been on the island. They are just a rare spawn, in the caves only.

@@josesolismusic no, but aberrant ones are different. They don't sleep half of every day like non-aberrant ones. And because of that, and because of Aberration's unique mix of creatures, they are in a different tier there. On other maps (my first one I tamed was actually on Rag) they are kind of just a novelty. I named mine "Sleepy Boi" and he was more a decoration than anything else. But on Ab, they are awesome. Like a combination rex and allo or something, but closer in size to a bary.
I've never seen Paranormal Activity and normally I'm a big no-no on horror as a genre too. I think the only paranormal horror I've done is Phasmophobia, which isn't a survival game and has no story, you just take missions to identify ghosts. Lots of fun, heaps of variability, every mission feels different. If you wanted to try that out, I'd love to see it. But the other horror I've done, In Sound Mind, is more like an emotional rollercoaster and more psychological in nature. Amazing experience, would definitely recommend, 100%. It's more survival, has an awesome story that unfolds so perfectly. Would also absolutely love to see you play that. It's not remotely as long as Ark, probably not even Subnautica, but it left a lasting impression on me on so many different levels.

Arthropleura ( the giant centipede) takes WAY more damage from Projectiles!! Shoot the centipede from a distance!
Also because they have acid blood at close range.

If you go in only wearing a gas mask the centipede spit doesnt hit the gas mask for some reason...
Swamp cave is the one that most people Farm the most often for loot crates, as you can see from this episode you got a lot of pretty good stuff.

There are still a couple of caves you should do before the swamp cave. Also I’d recommend a Megatherium. It has a massive dmg boost in that cave.
Carry your anky and dodic in your argy claws and fly it over a node!
Yup... Rhynio can take up to 6 days on official to tame... It's crazy... There is a 2x event going on though and events seem to be quite frequent
Just to clarify, imprinted dinos are absolutely better than non imprinted whether you're riding or not. At 100% imprint a dino will have ~20% higher health, food, melee, movement speed, and even torpor. These boosts are permanent and not dependent on being ridden. Riding just gives a bonus 30% damage and resistance.
You can pause the imprint/ raising time by cryo podding them don't have to all be done in one session
Mindwipe is a very useful recipe. Combine it with leveling a skill you’re normally never level up and a good blueprint and you got something possibly amazing!

The simple act of killing a fish heals your bary, not even feeding it, just killing.. Watch the video back and see when you kill the massive fish you nearly full HP.

Thats how to complete the Cave, survey the route with naked body, kill the creatures with mount...
Always be careful at night.. Troodons can easily swarm and kill you in seconds
as far as animal timers go, this is the rule of thumb:
default timers for higher value animals, greater consequences when they die
shorter timers for disposable animals, minimal setbacks in death, less concern and effort
