- Here we see King Haakon VII of Norway, Queen Maud and Crown Prince Olav travel through the country, from Oslo to Trondheim and Nidarosdomen where the coronation was helt. We see the arrival of some of the royal guests, and we see the procession before the coronation. There excist no footage of the actual coronation though. It is said that it was too dark in the Cathedral for cameras of that time to get any picture.
Amongst the guests we see in this clip are:
- The Prins of Wales, later known as King George V of the United Kingdom. He was Queen Maud's brother.
- The Crown Prince of Denmark, later known as King Christian X of Denmark. He was King Haakon's brother.
- Grand Duke Michael of Russia, brother to Tsar Nikolai II.
- Prince Heinrich of Prussia, brother to Emperor Willhelm II of Germany.
Because Norway had reestablished its independence in over 500 years following split from Sweden. The King had already a son to be as his heir apparent.
1906 was the same year when his grandfather Danish King Christian IX had died and his father succeeded as Frederik VIII. Haakon’s brother would become Danish King Christian X six years later.
Norway was always independent from Sweden.
They had a joint king, that was it.

Min far var gammel nok til at kunne huske kong Haakons radiotaler. Han sagde om kongen: "Han lærte aldrig at tale norsk, men nordmændene elskede ham!"
Både kong Haakon og dronning Maud tog deres nye land til hjertet og blev højt elskede regenter.
Må de og deres søn, Olav, hvile i fred.
En engelsk prinsesse og en dansk prins. Ingen av dem norske ble Norges konge og dronning. Hm..
Dronning Viktorias etterkommere tok over Europa.

Tiden viste det ble alt annet enn positivt.
Her i Norge er kongefamilien blitt en joke.

Its very cute seeing them taking Olav everywhere and holding his hand. That was not very common in those days right? I wish the footage was sped up and we could see them moving naturally as they did in real life

Da war die Monarchie noch beliebt heute ist Sie es teilweise auch noch. Meiner Meinung nach aber zu teuer. Könnte man also ist aber nur meine Meinung dazu ABSCHAFFEN. Können Leute auch anders sehen. 😊
