  • In this video, I try a laser burn on a canvas. I did two even coats of spray paint on the canvas, and after it was fully dry - I did a burn on it.
It turned out great - the laser burned away most of the blue, exposing the white canvas underneath. This gives it a perfect patent poster or blue print look.

Just starting my Onefinity journey and hadn't really considered the laser much to this point. You have given me an entirely new appreciation for laser projects. I see a laser in my future. Thank you for your contribution to the community.

Awesome - you should definitely do it. There are so many things you can do with it. Stay tuned. Lol

Then you will take a $3000 cnc and make it useless while you use a $750 Laser that doesn't perform as well as a dedicated $500 laser. Check out the Atomstack X7.

@@ClintonCaraway-CNC Yes - If you’re going to do some serious laser work - and start a production line - you’ll need to upgrade. You’ll need a separate machine in order to run both. I have the non-pro j tech laser and it works just fine. If I decide to get more into laser work, I will upgrade. I would love a rotary stand to do drinking glass and water bottle etching. With a stronger laser, you can increase the speed because of the increase in power - cutting down your project time- which is nice as well.

@@ClintonCaraway-CNC For a small shop, piggybacking off a super solid cnc setup sounds great... You're practically doubling it's use, doing two things in half the square footage ... with one obvious setback, only being able to run one at a time.

Great job! My two (three) favourite hobbies; Lego and CNC (Laser)

I've watched a couple of your videos and have enjoyed them. I'll look forward to what you do next. I have one suggestion for you... please give detailed information on the items you use in your videos and more details on how you did things. I find myself having to go back and pause the video to try to catch something. In this case, it was the blue paint you used. Thanks for listening. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the input. I will definitely be more thorough from now on. I was afraid the video would be too long and lose some people. Thanks for watching!

Nice video! Do you still use the laser attachment for your onefinity or has it been replaced by your C02 or other diode laser?

Thanks! I do not still use this laser, although I’ve been too lazy to disconnect it.

Haha nice, what was the reason for not using it anymore?

@@CleanEdgeProductions well, to be honest- I have a problem with over-thinking things and I didn’t want to add any extra wear and tear on the machine. With it being 7w - I would have to do a LOT of passes to cut though material. Now, I am sure this machine can handle the workload, but….. I have a problem. lol

@@garygriffith4866 silly question but did you turn the toggle switch on, on the laser control box , turn the key and then hit that red reset button?

May I ask if you might share the file to test the speeds and feeds of the laser, please? I think that's super helpful and would save a ton of time and mistakes. 🥰

All you have to do is search for Lightburn Speed and Power test, there are SO many that you can download!

@@SJSSawdust thank you very much, I was unaware of this. I have one of the original seven watt lasers and I never actually got around to using it. I fell off a ladder at work and shattered my heel just after I got my machine. So I just actually returned the laser to Onefinity and they gave me a credit and I'll be getting the 14 watt pro that was just released. Thank you for your reply I really appreciate the information.
