It's crazy to me that this is supposed to be the library. I'll never understand why saber interactive thought it was okay to completely ignore the visuals on the original game and do whatever the fuck they wanted instead. The atmosphere is ruined across the board.
Probably an invisible piece of geometry that is intangible to the player. It's likely used as a lighting effect or as a way to keep certain parts of the level loaded in a particular way. That's my guess anyway, Bungie did use all kinds of little tricks back then.
Your problem is that you're playing on Anniversary graphics. No idea why you'd want to do that in the first place but textures are different and don't show you correct geometry a lot of times.

The only good thing they did was Silent Cartographer. It's the only level I'll play in remastered graphics.

I know exactly what happened here if you were playing with classic graphics youd have seen part of the wall thing on your right was still there.

It is a common error of map collisions in the original version, it is not to put all the blame on the remaster

Exact one of the reasons why I can’t stand the remaster. You probably hit a solid that didn’t match up with the geometry of the Anniversary graphics.
