Day Trips OUTSIDE of Hội An (Should You Stay in Da Nang or Hội An Vietnam??)

  • Spending a few days in Hội An?? Old Quarter is cool and all but after a few days it gets a little repetitive. We'd suggest renting a motorbike and heading 5 kilometers outside of Hội An to Da Nang. Loop in Marble Mountain with your beach day and you'll be in good shape!

    Just spent 3 weeks in Viietnam . Marble Mountain was an unexpected highlight. I appreciated seeing it again through your video....but quite doable for someone in their 60’s (me). It is a watch your step kind of place.

    There is another way to go to Marble Mountain without paying the entry fee. You have to enter the place from the other end of the mountain, from the place where the other highway runs parallel to the one along the beach coast. Also the other 2 marble mountains can be visited by tourist but it is not made popular yet, but they are worth checking out

    I enjoyed your video and I'm planning a trip later in the year. In reference to your closing, I'm pushing 60 and I'll be walking up the stairs when I get there. Hopefully you'll also have your health when you're my age. (By the way, I quit my day job and traveled the world full time for 18 months in my 20s. It was definitely one of the highlights of my life. I still think about that time in my life fairly regularly).

    Enjoyed this video. I really like the short break down of daily costs you post at the end as well. Quick question: do you book accomodation in person as you go or online in advance?much appreciated. 🤗

    • @IntAffair
      @IntAffair  5 років тому +1

      95% of the time in SE Asia online prices will beat walk in rates. 1-2 days in advance is plenty unless it's a national holiday. Check online before you go just to make sure you'll be in the clear 😉
      If you are booking train tickets, try to book a few more days in advance (if you are planning to do 1st class sleepers). Sometimes they will be sold out within a day or two of the ride

      This is kind of funny to me as I’ve live in Da Nang for 17 years before I moved to the States. To answer your question, no, you won’t. Dogs are eaten in Da Nang, but when I lived there, the majority of the people I knew did not eat dogs. My family considered it a taboo. But of course, there are food vendors that specialized in dogs, but they were not common and common street food vendor/restaurant don’t serve them. General rule of thumb the further up north you go, the more likely you’ll see dogs being served publicly. Hope you enjoy the beautiful city of Da Nang.

      I (Rafael) just got back from Vietnam in September and I stayed in Da Nang this time instead of Hoi An. Honestly- the answer really depends on what your itinerary is and how much you're willing to travel daily. Because we had already visited Hoi An twice, I opted to stay in Da Nang and explore more of the city and just take a motorbike into Hoi An for the day. I definitely did not regret it. Da Nang has amazing food, plenty of places to visit and is conveniently located on on the beach. If your aim is to spend most of your time in Hoi An, then stay there/near there. If you're going for 3-5 days and only planning on visiting Hoi An for 1 day, I'd suggest staying in Da Nang. Hope this helps!

    • @IntAffair
      @IntAffair  5 років тому

      Drone laws are a touchy subject. They are constantly changing. As we’re not officials and probably not the best to give legal advice on drone piloting, our recommendation is to check online before your trip to see if there are any new laws or requirements for flying/transporting. I can tell you that we've never had an issue, anywhere we've been, with airport security trying to confiscate our drone. Hope this helps! Safe travels!
