I agree with many of you that say this should be a world anthem. When we moved permanently from the UK to California back in 1978, on our long transatlantic flight on Pan Am Airlines, this song was the quintessential reminder of how life should be not just in America but in the world. Been listing to Mr.Palmer since I was a child, I used to be ashamed for listing to music like this in high school cause it wasn’t what people my age listened to. I’m only 30! Forever grateful for my pops to putting me on to the legend Robert Palmer. Even as a kid I knew his style was smooth and fresh, he always looked as sharp as a razor 🪒

Absolutely love this track, and always have, it brings me comfort especially now in these rapidly darkening times. It's a somewhat unorthodox juxtaposition of melancholy and hope, but despite (or maybe because of) that it just seems to work. Robert was a Yorkshire lad (born just down the road from me in Batley near Leeds) and way ahead of his time; this doesn't sound like a 70s tune at all (I believe it was re-released in 1992 and still sounded fresh.) I feel he still had much more to give were it not for his untimely passing.
