This reminds me of when I worked at UPS, in the the distribution warehouse. They had trolley-trains like this that carried around bulky items. They would manuver around stairs and other obstacles without hitting anything. I kind of knew how they worked, but this provides a great visual. Thanks!
We had pump forks or something they were awesome jack them up stand on it and scoot. Once you're going you can skate the F things. Leaning from one fork to the other you start flying then realise how heavy they are with no brakes lol. Night shift though so...
Excellent engineering model showing any novice (like me) the basic dynamics of how tractors navigate turns. Yes, a fully functional full sized tractor would need separate differentials for each tyre to turn with ease and remain in contact with the ground when on a tarmac or a concrete road but this is simply a tiny basic model which doesn't need to show all those intricacies. I work on a farm and the trailers we use to haul combine heads are designed exactly like this (minus the diff). Works really well and helps us get through tight spaces very easily

Попробуй сделай "трактор" поставь тележку в колею и порули ей. К сожалению быстро придёт понимание, что весь твой поворотный механизм скорее сломается, чем колея станет шире. Ну и синхронизация вращения колеса под трактор ещё та задачка. Колесо будет постоянно срывать грунт. Из хорошего скажу, что подобная тележка применима где-то на твёрдых поверхностях, где необходима высокая манёвренность.

Something else that nobody has mentioned in comments is that this design 4 wheel steering is 1:1 ratio front and rear axles with any steering input. Take out that link and control front and rear steering independently in order to be effective. Wheelbase plays a big part in this design as well. There is a whole lot wrong with this model in the vid.
This is a comment few will understand and appreciate but I do so 👍🏼 I think the goal is to have a pto powered trailer connected to a tractor to drive the trailer as well. but it’s missing so many variables and parts that this design is not feasible but every great invention starts with a great idea so I would say under the right circumstances this would be a great idea Ps. Still needs a lot of work tho
@natedawg9806 you are correct. Nobody has thought of the pto speed relative to the ground speed either. Even if you could get the pto speed and wheel speed to match up, what happens when you slow down or come to a stop? The wheels will just keep digging in.

So, if you're pulling this with a tractor or vehicle with PTO, you hook up your PTO drive and the front trailer wheels have drive power to assist pulling the load. The rear wheels are just connected to pivot and steer around what the front wheels have already cleared, basically following the same path. Could also be done with a piggyback motor mounted on the trailer tongue and connected to the geared shaft, then sync your engine throttles.
Really a great idea bro but can't be so practical to be used for a tractor trolley because they should be designed to hold and withstand tonnes or load and these rotatory axels in front as well as in the back would reduce the weight holding capacity or would increase the maintenance work... But a great solution for the other light weight vehicles like cars & jeeps
Mining carts, airports carts, and many other trailers use pivoting solid axles like this on many real world designs. It reduces stability a bit as the wheel base narrows thru the turn, but works just fine for very heavy loads so long as it is designed for it.
Very impressive invention, great for manoeuvring bends , for articulated vehicles load balancing need be factored in to prevent tilt of vehicle due to high CG

this wont work when one throws in the third axle of the vehicle PULLING it. suddenly it wants to turn in a tighter arc than what its being pulled to follow. thats why, when you see articulated trailers, they arent mechanically linked. they have to be free to follow the curve that they are being pulled through.

If you do not have driving shafts then you dont need differential
@@19HarDMaN97if it ever intends to turn then yes it does need a differential. And it has a PTO option to drive the wheels from the tractor.
The rear tire on the outer side dragging. Find a solution for that and the design will be near perfect.
Was going to ask about the solid front axle. In the real thing, would that have a diff?
The rear tire wouldn't be dragging, if you notice, the rear axles are individual, allowing for no drag whatsoever.
Because this model does not have a differential. A real one would have thus solving the problem
