Are you allowed to catch female crabs? Isn't it common sense to let female crabs go and produce more so you can have more crabs next time? You are not allowed to catch female Dungeness crabs. If that is the case for King crab you should not catch female King crabs.

Crystal Boven I used to fish for halibut years ago in Alaska. This fish is easily 350 pounds. The hitting is to stun the fish. A creature this size can easily break your leg or worse with one good swat of that tail. When we caught large halibut, we shot them with a small gauge shotgun so no one would be injured once we it got on the deck. Hope this explains why he did that. (they are real tasty fish too 😁)
