What a wild story. Can't imagine snowboarding down Everest. Do you think Gatt should actually hold the record instead of Marco?

Gatt's story sounds even more insane. Climbing Everest without a team and without oxygen and then snow boarding down.
I find it humorous that having a team carry your gear to the summit and repair your gear on the decent is not disqualifying, but walking a few feet due to lack of snow is.

So, alpinists nearly make it down total exhausted by foot and this guy wanted to snowboard down?....after 7000 meters is the dead zone, it is another world, no aclimatation posible. Did he calculate the exponential degradation of the fisical above 7000? This guy (sorry) was not the smartest. Anyway, this is not extreme sport, this is Russian Roulette.

I like how he used a cross as his lucky charm but I'm sure Jesus himself is saying 'Yo, keep me out of this!'
On a serious note The Bible says in Matthew 4:7 NIV
Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

I think the climb, w/out oxygen fatigued him. His muscles were starving for Oxygen. Think of the muscle control needed to carve out a controlled descent. I bet his muscles just gave out, gravity got the best of him, & the snow swallowed him up. One wonders if he had listened to the Sherpa's & took the night to be on Oxygen, he could have had a successful descent. When your times up, it just is.🫡

I don’t understand the climbers who attempt these dangerous ascents without the use of supplemental oxygen! Very few humans are genetically predisposed to be able to survive in high elevation. It’s simply foolish.
