    Just had a puncture that I couldn't plug on the Shinkos. Your comment about puncture resistance of radials has me thinking of going to a different tire. I love the performance of the Shinkos tho...

    Never tried bias tires on any of my bikes. I have a set of Dunlap 404s on my 2003 VTX 1800. As a matter of fact the back tire was low yesterday afternoon, it only had 10lbs in it. I could have jumped on one of my other bikes, but I am like you I love everything about my VTX 1800. I swapped my mustang seat out, and put the Corbin on it the other day. It's setting about 3 inches lower than it was, and I can't believe how much of a difference it is in the ride. Good video brother thanks for sharing.

    Just got my 2002 VTX 1800C a couple weeks ago. I was looking for Michelin commander 3's but they were impossible to get a set. I ended up with bridgestone exedra max. So far so good.

    I've been curious about the Shinko 777's for my 750 Shadow. Thanks for the information, I'll have to give them a try when my current ones wear out.

      They are very sticky but they don’t last as long as other brands. But they are also more affordable too. Let me know how they turn out.

    Amazing! I had no idea bias was still being sold as a non-retro tyre, very cool to learn the differences. My Dunlop 404s used to wear fast but I did like the soft rubber. Absolutely adore your bike but at 300 pounds more than my 750 Shadow, I just sadly think it'd be too much bike for me to push around, but I'll think about it as I imagine riding into the distance as my fish scarf shimmies behind me.

      LOL your fish scarf shimmies behind you? That is a great line. I had a 750 shadow 9 years ago and put about 12,000 miles on it it was a bullet proof awesome bike. Thank you for watching.

    I've wondered about the 777 HD .. I've got a VTX1800 myself.. I'm in Southeast MO. I seen in the Thunderbird video you mentioned Alton. Interesting note about the Alton video, my last name is Kiser and I found no cabbage!!

    I had to replace my rear tire today on my vl1500 it was a kenda 673 and it was terrible as far as wet roads go but also just not good traction at anytime. So bc this video I put shinko 777 on my rear wheel I hope it does good

    I feel like balancing beads will help with the heat on bias ply I’ve had both beads and weights and I prefer the beads

    Think Im going to try these in 13/90, white wall, for an older shovelhead that I don't ride much.

    Didn't know you had a sabre 1100, I had a spirit 1100 and owned it for 2 years i liked it but once I hopped on my vtx 1300 I know it was the superior bike to me, so i sold the shadow. Did a oil change recently and found out the vtx has 2 drain plugs, kinda perplexed me for a bit was not expecting that o well

      I liked the sabre but it didn’t take long to keep going and get more bikes. And yes the 1300 is very interesting with the two drain plugs. I have had two 1300s and thought they were both awesome. Thank you for watching.

    I’m looking for tires for my 1800 and like the price point of these so came across your video for more info. Are you running the 180/65-16 for your rear tire? My old one is a 180/70-16 and I’m wondering if the size difference makes any practical difference.

    • @tgmotorider.narratinglifeo3480
      @tgmotorider.narratinglifeo3480  2 роки тому +1

      I am running the 180 65 and it’s been great. On another note tires in sets are becoming increasingly more difficult to find. I am going 5 mm taller on my thunderbird 1600. No choice. I also have to use two separate tires on my triumph, i’m putting a commander two on the back and the commander three on the front. Desperate times desperate measures.

    What size rear tire do you have on this?? Is it the 180/65/18?

      I believe they call for a 180/70/16 but I don’t think they make them

    Hi, I've always bought the d404 on my roadstar 1600 and wanted more miles. You seem to be experienced with tires. which tires do you recommend?

    • @tgmotorider.narratinglifeo3480
      @tgmotorider.narratinglifeo3480  2 роки тому

      For a tire that will give you great miles I put a set of Michelin commander twos on my last 1300 and they were fan freaking tastic. They were great in the rain and in the cold.

      I was thinking about the commander 3, would the 2 be better? They said the 3 water groves are positioned better that makes it have traction longer as it wears

      @@r1sabotage I’ve had no experience with the commander threes so I only like to speak about things I’ve had on the 10 bikes I’ve owned. I wish I could be more help on the threes.

      @@tgmotorider.narratinglifeo3480 NP you've already been a great help. So switching from D404 to Commander 2 is a good move correct?

    4k miles and my tires were done, if you are doing your own work it might be worth it.
