@@Gilkeyway he was killed by Jack, then over time the mold grew into his body and bonded with him. His conscience was recorded in the molds DNA chain, which is why he wasn't a brainless mold zombie
@@Gilkeyway in RE7 the time ethan and jack encounter (the time he had his hand cut off). Ethan died then and there (we just assumed he lost consciousness because there is a faint moment where he woke up while jack is dragging him). However, at that moment he's already dead and he was already transforming into a mold. That's why he can reattached all of his severed limbs.

@@primarchnomad9512 When Ethan was killed by Jack Baker, his old hand was reattached to his new mold body which means old limbs can't regenerate or grow back but new body parts can since he turned into mold and the mold is perfectly blend with his body and become him with his consciousness
That's why when his leg was cut off then Ethan pour holy water on it it stays and functioning like nothing happen
He just puts them back in like a gundam model, no glue required

Due to how fast her cut he didn't realize his hand got cut off for few seconds it's like that infected soldier from dead space cut isaac in a half really fast he did not realize he lost half of his body. Neat detail

Ethan's way of surviving these events is a lot more realistic than the previous ResEvil games. Ethan is still alive(well, he used to) because of the mould from Eviline, whereas the other protags would just fall off a 3 storey building and still survive IN CUTSCENE MODE. Do feel free to correct me, I'm only familiar with the remakes, 7 and 8 :P
Ethan's entire situation was a more "realistic" approach to the bodily damage/infection of RE. Normally main characters were just immune to viruses unless infected in a cutscene. It didn't matter how many bites or scratches they took. RE also loved it's cheesy action horror style, and thus a lot of the characters could survive relatively dangerous situations, like crash landings or nearby explosions.
Ethan could still take way more of a beating than anyone else, even before he got infected (Dude got stabbed multiple times and his arm cut off with a chainsaw and didn't once pass out from shock), but after his infection/death he become damn near immortal. Any bodily damage could be ignored or straight up healed if he had some healing juice ready. In the end though, that healing goop is magical as fuck.
And ethan is also half mold and half human some ppl say he fully mold

Better than having Leon, Claire or any previous resident evil protagonist from getting bit. They're not immune to the virus but the gameplay does shows them getting bit

Ethan is no longer a normal human that is why he can do this. He got killed in the events of Resident Evil 7 and he was just resurrected by the mold.

@@TheDashingRogue no idea honestly but I will say Ethan strain could be entirely different from the bakers because Eveline viewed Mia as her mom so therefore viewing Ethan as the dad there is also confirmed different strains of the mold due to Chris being told the mold from bakers is different from the mold in the village so that could be a possibility but also if you think about it Mia and the rest of the bakers had been molded for years at that point in time while Ethan being made of mold yes but still partially regularly human we know this because we see the inside of his limbs multiple times (rip left and right hands) but during that time we can clearly see bones and flesh so there's generally multiple reasons why it not may have worked even more than the 2 I mentioned

@@eltipodepan6373 haven't played it yet, but been binging clips and gameplay from it, and Ethan has his heart ripped out, a chunk bitten from his hand, stabbed through his chest and hands, takes multiple hard hits and cuts to his arms, and he just keeps going and kind of forgets about his injuries. I know he heals cuz of the mold, but that's shit still got to hurt and keep hurting for a while, yet he keeps going like its nothing.

It’s driving me crazy as to why Ethan never questioned his reattachment ability. The writers had to have known it was questionable, they couldn’t have not thought it through. It’s different from previous RE games when a character is bitten by a zombie more than once and was never infected because they only happened in gameplay and it’s a feature, not a cutscene. Ethan lose and reattached his limbs during cutscene, fully acknowledging that he could reattach them, yet never questioned how, only to be shock at the end when he found out he’s a mold-man this whole time.
