    I ended up creating my own solution for clean-up of onedrive in multisession. I put together a scheduled task that runs 30 mins after user logon and executes a script which set the state back to cloud only if files haven't been modified for more than 60 days. It helps keep the size down in the containers. Still can't believe there is no native solution for this and people are having to keep creating tools. I'll take a look at the one from Marcel, thanks, it's probably more sophisticated than my simple scheduled task+powershell.

    Another secret weapon is using clouddrivemapper in onedrivemapper. They both mount onedrive to a drive letter on multisession hosts.

    I have always wondered, but never found an answer to this - when using RDP client drive mapping, are file I/O operations subject to Defender anti-malware scanning on the AVD session host? If so, are there Defender policy settings that are relevant to that use case?

    • @AzureAcademy
      @AzureAcademy  Рік тому +2

      yes they are. When you attach remote drives into the remote environment they are scanned by Defender...which is why FSLogix best practices are to exclude your profiles, .vhd / .vhdx file types and your profile locations.
      this should help. learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fslogix/overview-prerequisites#configure-antivirus-file-and-folder-exclusions

    Hi Dean, do you have any official docs for storage sense is not supported on win10 enterprise multi session? In our environment we are using storage sense and it is working well. So I dont know why I should use Marcel script :)
    What we noticed, MS removed 22h2 storage sense in win11. Unfortunately I don't know the reason. Is that where the statement comes from that Storage Sense is not supported?

    • @AzureAcademy
      @AzureAcademy  Рік тому +1

      Just did a quick search and pulled this doc
      learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-desktop/set-up-customize-master-image#disable-storage-sense

      @@AzureAcademy Thanks for your rapid as a service answer :)
      The MS Doc article says "Disks where the operating system is installed are typically small in size and user data is stored remotely through profile roaming. This scenario results in Storage Sense believing that the disk is critically low on free space" but I disagree with that. We don't see any reports that "low spaces" are present. The FSLOGIX "redirected" disks are also not displayed.
      Storage Sense is set up in our Windows 10 MultiSession + FSLOGIX in such a way that it should only implement cloud dehydration. This works fine. So I don't understand why this statement is made.
      Sorry, I just want to understand technically why Storage Sense is not recommended. :)

      The only reason I can offer is what the docs say. If you are not experiencing that…great, I guess. But my experience with many, many customers is not what you are seeing…so there must be some other variable at play here, just not sure what

    We have another issue not related to this topic but I wonder if it's also an existing issue. In our profile containers we sometimes get users individual searchindex file on multisession windows 10 being huge, like 20+GB in size. it doesn't happen to everyone and appears as though something is causing it to corrupt or break. Deleting it and letting the user re-create it at next logon appears to fix it. Curious to know if this is something you've seen in environments. We only index locations Microsoft OneNote, Outlook and IE history (not sure why we do this maybe legacy) so not sure why the index would become so large? Any info or video around the size of this search index file might be cool. There's loads of info on google around massive index files but the solution always seems to be just rebuild it, which doesn't really seem like a good solution.

    • @AzureAcademy
      @AzureAcademy  Рік тому +1

      1st...WHY? Why do you need the search index in a remote session? Is there a specific reason, or just how you configure all your clients?
      2nd Are you using FSLogix user profile containers ONLY or also the ODFC Container?
      3rd I have not run into this issue with my customers or from other comments before.
      4th here is a link that might help you 👉 learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/shell-experience/windows-search-performance-issues#size-of-the-index-database

      @@AzureAcademy mainly the search index is for outlook email search advanced options which our users want. We use both profile and office containers, office containers just for outlook cache.

    • @steveturnbull9869
      @steveturnbull9869 Рік тому +1

      @@AzureAcademy it’s not a problem for all users so we are not sure what triggers it. Needs more investigation I guess. I did read somewhere that said the index can be massive if using psts so it’s possible some users are having massive backed up pst files in their onedrive or loading them in from a network share into the outlook running on avd
