MSIX App Attach seems works for basic applications like (notepad++/chrome etc.. some basic applications) but when it comes to custom applications or database applications, msix app attach need improvement. As I have tested with Bloomberg application and this is the error i am receiving

Hi Dean - But i guess it does not support office or some other critical software as per my last testing. Does it support now? Any limitation yoy can highlight

Man - I've had limited success with MSIX :( It seems like it has a limited use case but I might be missing something. The office apps (click to run) can't be packaged, I think - or they couldn't previously unless that changed. About half the apps I've tried to package using the tool you're using fail to work properly, like most Adobe apps. And apps that need to interact with other apps, or databases on the host are problematic inside a container. I hope I'm just missing something obvious because app attach is an awesome concept!

Office is a billion+ lines of code app suite, so that is not a quick win ☺️ and since office is ALREADY included in the AVD image…
Are the other apps not working in app attach or in the MSIX packaging?

Great stuff. As I understood correctly, MSIX app attach is currently not supported for Entra Domain Services. are there any plans to support it in the near future or if it is in the pipeline for development?
Not at this point. Entra DS needs to support syncing devices…and since they don’t, no app attach support
Thank you for yet another informative video. I was just thinking of trying out app attach, but it seems like that "App Attach" option under AVD > Manage isn't there in my tenant so I can't try it!

Quick question: After I added the packages to app attach, it somehow does not display in the overview of app attach, although I can add the packages to an application group, any Idea why? Maybe a preview bug?
Really looking forward to the video about getting .msix files directly from the app vendor!

Thanks! The next video should be released Tuesday Jan 9th! I haven’t seen that bug, try to do a cache refresh on your browser by holding CTRL and pressing F5 if that doesn’t fix it, open a support ticket for the bug
It looks great, but there are some issues with older program, i made 10 MSIX package, but only 8 of them worked, after plenty of troubleshooting I had to go back to using a golden image for it to fully work.
That’s why you should watch my upcoming video on how to find MSIX packages from the software venders…so you don’t have to repackage them…stay tuned!
If I create the MSIX packages and update them on the host pool, and then I find that the application has a bug preventing users from accessing it, is it possible to revert to the previous version?
If you created an update package then you still would have the original
And if you instead created a new version with the updates inside it, you would still have the original as well…so either way you are ok
Is there a process to unmount a VHD from a host? I've gone through the portal and set the package as "In-active", removed the app etc. Nothing seems to unmount the VHD unless you either reboot the hosts or go into each one and selectively unmount them. Also, if an App is removed, how are the shortcuts removed from Profiles? In my testing, I can see a bunch of blank app shortcuts that don't work.
Why do you NEED to unmount from the host?
The blank apps are the removed shortcuts…the issue is the apps native uninstalled isn’t removing the shortcuts from all the profiles
I see You have created Admin tools app attach application how you created it ? I have a requirement to create that when it launches it needs to prompt for other credential - admin credential to use it.
If I understand what you are asking for...you want an App Attach App to open and prompt for credentials...as far as I know, this is NOT Possible today.
The app is assigned to a user directly with a specific credential. I don't know how you can automatically launch it to prompt for different credentials.
Why not just assign it to the correct user?

Hi Dean. Do you have any experience in leveraging MSIX to work with FSLogix? I'd like to retain user settings that, for example, write to %appdata%. Maybe this would reuiqre redirecting this to the real %appdata% outside of the VFS?
Yes I have used App Attach with FSLogix many times. The %AppData% folder is part of the FSLogix profile already. But I think the issue you are having is wanting to save some kind of app data or setting from the App Attach app.
Example you change to app theme to dark mode
Then you log off and log back in and the app reverts to light theme.
This is happening because the App Attach images are READ ONLY.
So you can’t make changes to the app at all.
If you want a change you need to repackage the app or create an update package with those changes.

I tried using PSF fix to redirect to the local %appdata% - which output it to AppData\Local\Packages - a location not supported by FSLogix.. however, getting closer.. and plan to try outputting to a location which is supported for FSLogix roaming.

@@AzureAcademyGot it working by using the PSF to redirect the VFS AppData to local AppData, and then a shutdown script to copy this out to an FSLogix supported profile location on closing the application. Then on launching the application, another script restore it. Seems a bit convoluted, but it works.

Followed this all the way through to App Attach and when I click create I get a useful error of Failed to create app attach 'undefined'. Great video just not working for my app sadly.
What app are you trying to package? Perhaps you had something happen when you converted

@azureacademy hello I am facing one issue in my avd environment. I am using Aad joined personal machines total 6 machines are there assigned to 6 users and i have restricted all clipboard & device redirection in Remote desktop and rd web client but now when i am accessing session host via rd web client windows365portal option is showing for logging and when i am trying to access the machines via win365 the clipboard & device redirections is not restricted there and i cannnot allow my user to acees the data it is really imp for me to disable that url from rd web client or else restrict copy paste and redirection
Sir please try to help me out in this scenario it's very urgent for me quick help will be appreciated
What exactly is the URL for the client you are using?
Also, why are you using the web client?
Have you tried with another client to see if it works the way you want?
