a better test would have been the pedal into a different kind of amp maybe a solid state amp vs the blue channel on the EVH. why would you need the pedal if you already have the amp. good video tho, i enjoyed it
Hey guys, you should do the comparison with the pedal hooked in the return section of the amp…. That would be more precise as it emulates the 5150 preamp!! 👍🏼👍🏼
*Its not more gain, its LOW MID that is needed for the pedal. You will be needing a graphic EQ. And that goes for ALL of these pedals that emulate amps*
Great stuff guys! At first I liked the amp better - it just had a more organic, even feel to the distortion. But after a couple of adjustments, the pedal pretty much matched it.

It sounds like trash as a preamp

I run my Mxr into eq pedal then into my 1980 ac30
Awesome
Hi there
You have to put a Fender Deluxe amp in the clean channel and the MXR 5150 Overdrive and thats it the sound is amazing
Combine the mxr 5150 with an eq pedal and boom
Awesome!!! Got the notification and glad you’re back
Thanks Frank...we are glad to be back!

Thanks Joe! Yeah, the 5150 OD is an amazing little pedal...packs a lot of punch!
