    hi everyone that doing this project and run out of cords, please watch our tutorial closely as I saw some of your creation and the reason you ran out of cords because you started the square knots at the bottom too close to the top so not enough cords, we just need a few rounds of square knots for the bottom so if you dont leave enough space between the top and bottom parts then you end up having too many rounds of square knots then not enough cords for sure, hope that helps

      Do we need to cut 2.5m or 5m of cord at the very beginning?

    • @benzeynepp
      @benzeynepp 3 роки тому +4

      It is not the solution. Using 5 meter of ropes is the only solution. I make half of the pattern and less square knot but unfortunately not enough cords though. I have to untie all the chords now and I don't know what to make these 2.5 meter ones!

      Thanks for sharing your beautiful work. Love your design. Thanks to all those who commented on the issues they ran into in making tha hammock as I will be keeping that in mind when making my hammock for our 15lb cat. I will definitely need a larger hammock and longer cords respectively. God bless.❤️

    After many people here had the same experience that the length specifications could not be correct: I took at least twice the length on the second attempt. So it worked: It's a little bigger and I've added two narrower rows at the bottom so that the weight is borne by the macrame and not just by the bottom cord.
    I took: Cordsize 3mm
    32 x 5m (=160m)
    4 x 4m (=16m) (for the side cords)
    2 x 6m (=12m) (for the middle cord)
    30 x 0,5m (=15m) (for the cords themselves)
    8 x 1,5m (=12m) (they are added to the lower braid)
    (total: 215m)
    (instead of: 32x2,5m + 6x1,5m + 30x0,5m + 8x1m = 112m)

    • @marisakirko820

      Instead of 6x1,5m for the three cords you should take 4x4m and 2x6m (the middle one is longer...).

    I’m in the middle of this project and find myself out of rope in the middle of it. I used conversion from metric to US {which I’ve done before with no issues} so not sure if this was the problem but not a happy camper right now! I’m a very experienced macrame artist and found this tutorial hard to follow. If you are not able to follow along visually or not very experienced, I would not attempt! I recommend watching the tutorial to completion then decide if this project is for you before you waste rope. I actually had to Frankenstein my project with this just so I could finish it. Learned a HUGE lesson here.

    For this you'll need:
    32 ropes of 250cm / 2.5m / 98.43 inch / 2.73 yards.
    6 ropes of 150cm / 1.5m / 59.05 inch / 1.64 yards.
    30 ropes of 50cm / 0.5m / 19.69 inch / 0.55 yards.
    8 ropes of 100cm / 1m / 39.37 inch / 1.09 yards.

    This video teaches me one thing. It is that read the comments before making the things in video. I ran out of my ropes and what should I do now? It can't be a cat hammock. I think ropes should be 5 meter not 2.5 meters. It is not hard to say its right dimensions.

      you can simply follow the instructions from 15.45 and then, instead of 5 rows, do several of them the same way. so for each abbey, one left and one right. so that you don't run out of yarn, i would simply make 4 meters (or more) by 32 at the beginning. but in my case, a 35 by 35 cm pillow also fitted in without an extension.

    • @TNArtCrafts
      @TNArtCrafts  4 роки тому

      hi, if you follow along when watching this video you will find it very easy. Basically from 15:50 you just do square knot every 4 cords, make a round for it then continue next round of square knots to make a net

  • @laurabrock1790

    at 16:42, I have two cords left over? where do they go. I am so confused. If I just think of one section of the cords with 16 cords each, I add one new cord with the box knot. Then only use the two ends of that plus two new cords from that section of the cord. So for my first box not I use 3 of the cords. 16-3 = 13. The last two cords go on to connect to the next pattern. So, I have 11 cords divided by four that leaves me with one extra cord for the two end patterns? what do they connect to?

  • @norahche

    I love your idea.But I have tried it and the lengh 2.5m of each cord wasn't enought. Also I have some problems in the bag part. You begin it adding a cord in the firs cord to the left and leave one cord free and start the square knots. And when you arrive to the end you have 3 cords free, but i have only one. So i don't understand how you made. Please, would you give me some detail instrucction?Thank you very much

  • @lynncicero1613
    @lynncicero1613 Місяць тому

    Oh I wish I would have read all the comments on the cord length being too short. I had the same issue partly my fault as I used 4mm rather than 3mm but clearly the cord that is being presented is a thinner and more silky thread making it easier to knot. My cord is a more cotton cord which will be harder to make a tight clean knot. The directions should increase the lengths in the center section as well since there is more details. I will attempt to remake but will cut a much longer cord length along with the center pattern.
    Update, redid this with much longer cords, especially in the center where there is more knotting. 4 to 5 meters is more realistic. Also, for the 3 center square knots have the center yarns shorter as they don't get used much.

      I did. I've made 2 now and had to dramatically increase the lengths. I'd recommend starting with 5m lengths for the 32 cords.
      For the 6 spiralled cords as the outside threads become working cords at the bottom you need 3m each hanging at roughly 2.5 and 50cm.
      Finally for the 8 x 1m I used 1.5m and it's actually 10 cords that you need.
      I really hope this helps as it makes such a beautiful hammock once completed!

      Imogen Davey thank you!! This will be only my second project so I hope it’ll turn out ok.. (I didn’t really understand what you meant by the 2.5 50 cm hanging thing, but I’ll wing it hehe

    • @1mog3n
      @1mog3n 4 роки тому +3

      @@shikmalagbas9721 I mean you don't hang it evenly. With the longer lengths you'll make sure they're even at the bottom. You need shorter lengths in the middle and longer on the outside for those. Good luck with it!

      @@irinawu5648 thanks for this .. although my fringe lengths even though I made longer were no where near as long as the rest..that made it tricky as I had to add on.. and wasn't sure if that was the right thing to do. So the long lengths really need to be much longer than stated.

    When u attatch the 1,5m ropes for the "square knot" it is a spiral knot u do. Not the square as is said on the screen.
    Do u mean that the first ropes are a 5m rope, than while attatching with the larkshead knot become 2,5m??
